August 29, 2026 Over the last year, for Trish, the goal was simple: Just. Stay. Alive. And then all these secondary goals came into play: Get through a year of chemotherapy. Recognizing a fever of 100.4 can be deadly for a cancer patient. Survive 10+ surgeries. Sweat out multiple pathology results. Fret over all the CT scans, PET scans and MRI’s. Wade through insurance denials. Navigate diabetes due to the loss of half her pancreas. Learn how to eat after having most of her stomach removed. Figure out which medications actually work for nausea and pain. Find out the hard way which medication causes allergic reactions. Just. Keep. Going. But then one day, she’s on the other side of a year—and realizes staying alive was only part of the battle. Because being “alive” isn’t the same as “living.” Living is making plans without wondering if cancer will ruin them. Living is being able to walk to the mailbox without pain and living is hoping to do the things you kept saving or planning to do “someday.” Cancer teaches how fragile being alive can be. We’re thankful she’s alive, but we want her to live! Pray with us as she sets her sights on the next goal: a miraculously clear CT scan this October And, pray with us that her insurance will, one day, be sorted out.
