<div>Kalena was a courageous, strong, creative, and adventurous soul. She was ambitious, driven and determined. She had her future mapped out and was well on her way to executing it. She loved exploring the world and discovering treasures in any second hand stores she could find, and she found joy in serving at the nearby food bank.

<div>Most of all, Kalena was a deeply loved daughter to Rick and Alicia, a cherished sister to Kai and Kekoa, and a beloved granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. Her kindness, laughter, free spirit, and loving heart will leave a lasting impact on the many lives she touched.

<div>Kalena loved this island and gave to it in her own quiet ways. This fundraiser was created to support the Abelmann Ohana as they navigate this sudden and tragic loss. <div>Schofield Lodge, F.&amp;A.M. is proud to support a school supply drive for Nānākuli Elementary School as they prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, which begins on 4 August 2026. July 6 and Aug 3 will be our schedule to drop off the school supplies.

<div>Every child deserves to begin the year with the tools they need to succeed. Nānākuli Elementary serves approximately 420 students 76% are on free meals, 4% on reduced meals and our goal is to help equip as many students as possible for a successful start to the school year.

<div>We are accepting both physical school supplies and monetary donations. The items most needed include:

Schofield Lodge School Supplies Drive

<div>On May 30th, my son Kekoa Tamale, a 23-year-old Hawaiian/Tongan Waimea Valley lifeguard and aspiring musician, was brutally attacked on the North Shore, along with a 15 year-old Hawaiian boy, an honor-roll student and all-star athlete. Both were kicked and beaten unconscious and almost drowned by a group of 20 teens and adults.

<div>Both Kekoa and this young boy were rushed to the ER with severe injuries. Kekoa suffered broken hand and eye sockets, had plastic surgery to reconstruct his eyelid, a concussion, and bruising all over his body. The young boy suffered a broken nose, concussion, possible loss of vision in one eye, loose teeth, and a severe knee injury. Out of respect for his privacy and his family's wishes we are keeping the 15 year-old victim's identity protected.

<div>They are both now recovering at home under close medical supervision, and lucky to be alive.
</div>

<div>To add insult to injury, the attackers, who had filmed the entire incident, took the time to edit and create a whole reel of the attack, glorifying the violence, and posted it to TikTok. We're actively in investigations to identify all the attackers.
</div>

<div>They didn't deserve any of this, and do not deserve to suffer the fall-out of such a senseless and evil act. Kekoa and this young boy have a long road ahead of them and I'd like to ask our communities' support in helping them recover. If you are able, we are collecting funds for medical and legal costs, and Kekoa's lost wages while he recovers. Any help is greatly appreciated to help them get back on their feet.

Help Kekoa and Young Teen Recover from Brutal Attack

<div>Aloha, please consider making a donation to Marck Aphay and Merrily Cazimero, who lost their home to the devastating Kona low storm that ravaged much of Waialua. The flood destroyed the couple's house of more than 12 years after tearing it from the ground and pushing it directly into Waialua Bridge. While they wait to see what they can do, the two and their family are helping their neighbors who also lost their homes, demonstrating incredible resilience and generosity during an overwhelming crisis.

Help Rebuild Marck and Merrily's Home in Waialua

<div>My name is Joeffrey Balanay, and I am a farmer from the Waialua/Mokule’ia area of O’ahu. I am raising funds for immediate and urgent needs as my farm was disastrously hit by the recent March 2026 Kona Low storms.

<div>I am a Filipino sugar cane farmer. As you may know, sugar cane has been a staple crop of Hawai’i for hundreds of years. About 4 years ago, I became a sugarcane farmer after finding out I was diabetic; before that, I harvested okra, papaya, banana, lemongrass, &amp; bittermelon, to name a few. I often bring my sugarcane harvests to farmers markets where I can sell the juice to my community; I love seeing people walk away with big smiles on their faces after trying my natural sugarcane juice. It brings me joy and happiness to see both young and old customers enjoy my sugarcane. As much as I enjoy and love being a farmer, when I’m not working in the fields, I also enjoy spending time fixing up and working on vintage Volkswagen cars like bugs and dune buggys. It keeps my mind sharp and is a good break from being out in the fields all day.

<div><strong>However, all of that changed when the storms hit.</strong> The heavy rain washed away all the crops in my fields—all my sugarcane lost. The winds and intense flooding tore through the shack that I built to shelter my car projects; the cars are now severely damaged and unsalvageable. I could not save any of it and am left devastated. These were my passions, the loves of life; two things that brought me so much joy and meaning. Both of them gone away with the storms.

<div>Deisha Lei, her husband Martin, and their five children- Taleah, Sotia, Teia, Tenelle and Taimani- was displaced from their home and lost nearly everything inside due to severe flooding and mold contamination on the island of Moloka'i.

<div>They are a family of seven, with two children in high school and three in elementary school. In a matter of hours, their lives drastically changed.

<div>Deisha is a special education teacher at our local elementary school and someone who has always shown up for others. She volunteers and supports families in need and is always giving back to her community every chance she gets. During covid she helped organize food drives and when the Lahaina wildfire devasted Maui she was one of the first to take supplies over by boat to help affected families. Martin volunteers his time coaching kids soccer and high school football. Now they are the ones who need help. Their home received major water damage and due to severe mold contamination almost nothing inside could be saved. They lost their beds, clothing, furniture, kitchen appliances and every day essentials. They are truly starting over from nothing.

<div>One of their daughters, Tenelle, has an underlying health condition which makes this situation even more challenging. On top of everything, their small family business has also been impacted.

<div>Moloka'i is a tight-knit community with very limited resources. We don't have access to major stores like Costco, Target, Walmart, Home Depot. We rely heavily on barge shipments for basic necessities. Additionally, with so many families being affected during this time, resources have been stretched thin and are extremely limited, making recovery even more difficult and slow.

<div>It is not easy for Deisha and Martin to ask for help so we are doing it for them. They are the kind of people who are used to helping everyone else, but right now they need the support of others to get back on their feet to provide stability for their children.

Essentials including their two cars, washer &amp; dryer, refrigerator, generators, lawnmower etc. have been ruined.
