Although it is still not for certain, his legal team has advised him to request <strong>voluntary departure</strong> so he can continue his immigration process from Mexico. He has an upcoming court on October 2nd.

<div>This is an incredibly difficult moment for our family. After more than 30 years of building a life here, my father will have to start over from scratch outside the country. While he continues his case and works toward returning to the U.S. one day, we want to make sure he has the support he needs to get back on his feet.

My mom is very into her faith and loves plants. My dad works in construction, and is very proud of the work he does. It feels like a bad dream to not have them around. It just doesn't feel right, the house feels very dark."

<div>The son also shared that he wants others to be aware, be safe, and have backup plans. "Prepare for the worst, because it is not an easy thing to go through. There is so much chaos that falls on you and it feels like your world is falling apart, so the more you can prepare the better."

<div>Another story of existing while Black. I was recently visiting a friend in Morton Grove, IL. As I waited in my car in the parking lot of his apartment complex, which is open to residents and visitors, I was aggressively approached by a white women, demanding that I tell her, who I was, what I was doing there, who I was waiting for, and so on. I told her I was waiting for a friend, but that just wasn’t good enough. She ultimately called the police, claiming I was being aggressive, on drugs, harassing her, yelling at people, recording people walking in and out, and the list goes on. When I was simply just sitting in my car waiting for my friend to come outside. The police arrived and the situation was addressed, and we all went our separate ways. Videos of the incident were posted and circulated via tiktok (@p.f.daddy). 911 recording was also obtained.

<div>Unfortunately, these situations don’t always end with black men walking away, and I refuse to let her do so and target the next Black man she may come across for simply just existing while being Black. I’m seeking funding to assist with legal fees to sue for defamation of character, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and making a false report with malicious intent. Anything can help and is appreciated, Thank you guys a million.

<div>Hi, my name is María Andreína Paz Castillo. I'm a Venezuelan immigrant living in Chicago. I came to the U.S. in 2020 with a clear dream: to continue my career in dentistry.
</div>

<div>I'm a licensed dentist in Venezuela, but like many immigrants, I had to start over. I worked as a dental assistant while preparing for the theoretical board exam (the same exam U.S.-trained dentists must take), which meant reviewing my entire career while working. I also passed the TOEFL (an academic English exam), applied to several universities—which was expensive and emotionally tough—and was finally accepted into the University, something rare for international students.

<div>Today, I'm in my second semester and currently have a perfect 4.0 out of 4.0 GPA (Grade Point Average, the U.S. academic grading scale). I truly love dentistry. I’m passionate about helping people recover their health, confidence, and well-being.

<div>But now I’m facing a financial roadblock.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Because of my immigration status, I don’t qualify for FAFSA (federal student aid) or federal loans. I paid for the first semester with help from family and a private loan, but most private lenders require a cosigner (someone with U.S. credit who guarantees the loan), and I haven’t been able to find one. There is an alternative loan that doesn’t require a cosigner, but I can only apply for it when I have two years left in the program. Right now, I have two and a half years to go. That means I must pay for this summer semester myself in order to continue.

<div>My current debt for this semester is over $50,000. If I can’t pay it soon, I won’t be able to keep going, and everything I’ve worked for will be put on hold.

<div>I’ve done everything within my power, but now I need help.

<div>My goal isn’t just to graduate. I want to help other immigrant professionals revalidate their degrees and rebuild their careers in this country. That’s the kind of impact I want to make.

Pagué el primer semestre con ayuda familiar y un préstamo privado, pero la mayoría de los préstamos me piden un cosigner (una persona con ciudadanía o residencia que actúe como garante), y no he podido conseguir uno. Hay un préstamo alternativo que no exige garante, pero solo permite aplicar cuando faltan dos años para graduarse. Actualmente me faltan dos años y medio, por lo que debo cubrir este semestre de verano por mi cuenta para poder continuar.
