After nearly 10 years of marriage, my wife and I were excited to finally move into a two-bedroom townhouse, hoping it would be the start of a better life after so many trials, tribulations, births, and losses. We left behind a cramped one-room apartment, believing we had finally found a place to call home. But soon after moving in, we discovered the townhouse was severely rat-infested.
My wife suffers from schizophrenia and has a deep phobia of rats. The situation has been devastating for her—she’s been unable to leave the bedroom, and her mental health has suffered greatly. One of the rats even ran over her feet, which was traumatic. Despite our best efforts to keep her safe, including spending much of our savings, we are still trapped by our lease and unable to move easily. My wife has been forced to eat in the bedroom, barricaded away from the rest of the house, and she lives in constant fear of rat droppings. I am doing my best to support us by working at Walmart, but my family does not have the means to help us get out of this situation.
All funds raised will go directly toward securing safe, stable, and healthy housing for my wife and me. I want to provide her with a real home, a proper bed, and the ability to move freely and safely in her own space. Your support will help us cover moving costs, a deposit, and basic necessities so my wife can finally feel safe and comfortable. If you can find it in your heart to help us, thank you and God bless you. Your support will allow me, at 49, to finally provide a safe and happy home for my wife. I promise I will not let you down. For the first time, I want to give her a real bed, a safe kitchen, and the chance to attend her doctor’s appointments for her type 2 diabetes. Your kindness will help us be a family again, and I will always be grateful.
