<div>Weeks of horror passed. Electricity, internet, and communication were cut off. There was no safe place to go, no way to protect my family. With no other option, we were forced to flee.

<div>We sought refuge in <strong>Rafah</strong>, in a small<strong> </strong>tent, struggling to shield ourselves from the bitter cold and rain. Life in the tents is unimaginable—our food consists mainly of canned goods, and the water we drink is contaminated. Prices have skyrocketed due to greedy merchants, and diseases spread rapidly in the overcrowded shelters. Every day feels like a prison sentence, with no end in sight.

<div><strong>Losing Everything—Even Our Memories</strong>

<div><strong><em>And then</em></strong>, on <strong>December 30, 2023</strong>, while the world celebrated the arrival of the New Year, we were struck by another devastating blow—our <strong>dream home was completely destroyed</strong> before we had even lived in it for a single day. A single missile erased the place that was meant to be our sanctuary, reducing it to ashes.

<div>The destruction did not stop there. Our rented home—the place that had held our memories, our laughter, our belongings—was also obliterated. <strong>Everything we owned was gone.</strong>

<div>But the pain runs deeper than just the loss of material things. My son, Amir, who has yet to complete kindergarten, longs for the life we once had. Every day, he asks about the home that held his laughter and joy. One night, he looked up at me with sorrow in his eyes and asked:

<div>I will wait until the amount is collected. When I finish collecting the required amount, I will go to the Hala Travel and Tourism Agency, owned by Mr. Alawi Muhammad Al-Olabi. I will speak to him so that he can arrange for me and my family to leave Gaza for Egypt. I will pay the agency for myself, Ihab Salah, $5,000, for my wife, Ahlam Muhammad, for $5,000, for my daughter, Alma Ihab, for $5,000, and for my son, Joud Ihab, for $5,000. I will receive security coordination within a few days, and the day and time will be determined by the agency. I will go from Khan Yunis to the Rafah land crossing by car, and I will give $100 for our trip to the crossing, and after that I will also leave Gaza for Al-Arish by car. Because Gaza and Egypt are close to each other, you only need a car. I will pay the driver for our transportation to the Al-Arish area inside Egypt $100, then we will sit for two days in a house that we will rent for $250 for two days only. During the two days we will need food, I will buy us food. $150 is enough for me and my family. After that, I and my family will move to the cities of Egypt by car, and I will pay him $100. I will rent a house inside the cities of Egypt for $300 a month, and then I will search for work, and I, my children, and my wife will live inside Egypt in peace.

Unfortunately, no one was able to stop this war. Therefore, I see it as my responsibility to help my family evacuate to a safe place.</span><br /><br /><br /><span style="font-size:17px;">I have a large family consisting of five brothers and five sisters, each of whom has a number of children. We had a beautiful, large house in which we lived since childhood, and we have our beautiful memories there. We lived the most beautiful days and years of our lives there, but unfortunately this unjust war destroyed everything, even destroying the encounter of displaced families everywhere. now</span><br /><br /><span style="font-size:17px;">My mother, who is in her sixties, suffers from high blood pressure and anemia, and she cannot bear all of these horrors</span><br /><br /><span style="font-size:17px;">Because of this war, we lost everything we had, and all we had left was each other, and this is a big thing for me. Every member of this family is still fine.</span><br /><br />Now after six months of this horrific war, the situation is worsening in Gaza and we are out of options. I am doing what I can to help them get out before Israel’s ground invasion of Rafah, which is certain to be devastating.<br /><br /><span style="font-size:17px;">I appreciate your generous donation by that generous we will reach the target. The funds raised will be used to help me build a better life for my family after leaving, covering the costs of evacuating my family from Rafah to Egypt, where they will be safe. I am looking to evacuate some members of my big family, including my father, and mother my brother wife with 3 children , who left far away from their dad more than a year now because of the war he had left Gaza and his family for better future for them.</span>

A lifeline for refugees on Manus Island and Nauru<br /><br />Operation #Not Forgotten is a project to sponsor up to 330 refugees living on Manus and Nauru Islands and in Papua New Guinea. <br /><br />While the majority of the men and women still being detained on these islands have been accepted for resettlement to the United States, there are approximately 330 individuals who currently have no hope, no options, no future. <br /><br />Operation #Not Forgotten is a partnership between Canada Caring Society and MOSAIC, both based in British Columbia, Canada. Sponsorships will be undertaken through Canada’s private refugee sponsorship program and submitted by MOSAIC, a government-recognized Sponsorship Agreement Holder. <br /><br />Canada Caring Society and MOSAIC - along with partners in Australia - will be working together to raise the required sponsorship funds. We are starting by raising funds for the first 200 people. This amounts to approximately $3.3 million CAD. <br /><br />Fundraising campaigns will be launched across Canada, in Australia, and around the world. Settlement support services – finding accommodation, employment, medical care - will be provided by volunteer teams who will be trained and coordinated across the country by Canada. <br /><br />100% of donations will be to support the sponsorship and settlement of refugees.
