On December 23, 2025, two days before Christmas, and after 38 years of service, Cindy's employer decided to terminate her employment without any warning, and without any severance.

This decision was not due to performance issues or off-shoring, but because Cindy's battle with stage 4 colon cancer has apparently dragged on too long for her employer's liking. She was given a maximum timeframe of 9 months to be out on disability, but is currently still undergoing treatment.

Now, she is facing unemployment, no income, and exponentially higher insurance costs, all near the end her treatment. She has recently completed chemo treatment #16 of 20, so the finish line is in sight!

Along with your love and prayers, we are asking you to give what you can to help support Cindy through the rest of her treatments, so she can focus on regaining her health and her strength.

Standing with Cindy Martinez in Her Time of Need

Jay Hurt is just one of those people that it's hard not to fall in love with him. He's a down to earth, very thoughtful, always puts others before himself kind of guy. He can cut up with the best of them, is about as polite and hardworking as they come, along with being an unbelievable husband to his wife Lynn. Jay brings all of these fine attributes with him while on the water with his clients. He is an incredibly talented angler and is very passionate about what he does.

Jay had a tragic spill this past June at the start of his trout season. As some of you all know as a seasonal fishing guide it is very important to make the hay while the sun is shining. Jay broke his fibula while on a day of fishing and is unable to work for the rest of the season.

Jay has always been one to put others before himself and it's time we start to do the same. If you would please donate any amount to help out a dear friend in order to get him back on his feet and make it through these tough times it would be greatly appreciated.

Best.

Fishing guide in need of help.

Hello! We are a group of Virginia Tech students in the College of Natural Resources and Environment Leadership Institute. Our project for this school year is to raise financial support and awareness for the Sani Isla Kichwa Community in the Ecuadorian Amazon. To do this we have partnered with the Llikchary Institute, and adopted their mission statement of furthering indigenous cultural preservation, environmental conservation, and international education. The Kichwa live in one of the most biodiverse areas on the planet and have built a rich cultural history that is closely tied to the abundant natural resources around them. In recent years though, the Sani Isla community has been increasingly encroached upon by oil and timber companies. Their once, pristine land is now under constant threat, and the community is in danger of losing the rainforest which has provided for them for centuries. Despite this bleak setting, the Llikchary Institute offers hope for a brighter future. The institute is a learning center where young people in the village can acquire trade and language skills, and a place where people from all around the world can come and learn from the Kichwa.

We understand that our efforts and the work of the Llikchary Institute may seem small compared to the vastness of the issues facing a rainforest a continent away. We do not claim to have a silver bullet solution or even to fully understand the unique challenges facing the Kichwa people. And yet, our goal of raising $5,000 for the Llikchary Institute has the potential to have a truly significant impact on the Sani Isla Community. This money we raise will go towards textbooks, room and board for students, building supplies and even boating licenses so that boat drivers can bring children to and from school. Please like and follow our facebook page and consider donating. Thank you.

The video below was provided by the Llikchary Institute to describe their mission.
