<div>Hi, my name is Shayla Isaacs, and the last chapter of my life has been something I never could have prepared for. I was born and raised on the island of Maui and at just 14 years old, I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus(SLE) which eventually led to renal disease and failure. I have been on dialysis since 2021 and am currently working towards a kidney transplant.

<div>Living with kidney failure and being on dialysis has changed everything. My days revolve around treatments, doctor appointments, and trying to find the energy to feel like myself again. Some days are manageable, and others are overwhelming in ways that are hard to put into words. It’s been physically exhausting, but also emotionally heavy in a way I didn’t expect.

<div>Recently, I was listed for transplant at Queens Medical Center on Oahu and am still working to get listed at the Mayo Clinic Arizona. It’s something I’ve been hoping and waiting for, and at the same time, it brings a whole new wave of fear, uncertainty, and financial strain. I want so badly to move forward and get my life back, but the reality is that the costs surrounding dialysis, surgery, medications, and recovery are more than I can handle on my own.

<div>On top of everything, there’s the reality that recovery will take time. Time where I  won't be able to work, time where I’ll need to focus fully on healing, and time where I’ll still have bills and responsibilities that don’t pause.

Hope and Healing for Shayla's Kidney Transplant

<div>On May 20th of this year, my wife and life partner Barbara and I were celebrating our forty-second anniversary with a simple day of being home together when she suffered a life-altering ischemic stroke to the left side of her brain, leaving her paralyzed and unable to use her right arm, hand, leg, and foot, as well as causing aphasia—the inability to completely articulate her thoughts and feelings.

<div>Though severely challenged by her circumstances she is completely conscious, remains optimistic, and her sense of humor and the beauty of her essence remain intact. She is thankfully able to communicate through gestures and few words. That said she does have very tough days as she recognizes how tough her journey is.

<div>Barbara is an incredible mother to her three sons, a friend to many, a fantastic cook (she has fed hundreds), an avid gardener, musician, and master ceramic artist who, for the past twenty years has devoted herself to teaching others her love of clay. She was actually doing a kiln firing for her students at the time of the stroke which was left incomplete until she recovers with your help—her friends and family ❤️

<div>We live in a small Mexican village in southern pacific Jalisco and need to relocate Barbara to a facility where she can receive the best care to support her healing including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, as well as cutting-edge stem cell and peptide treatments to enhance her brain's own neuroplastic healing potential.

<div>These therapies, the home care assistants and therapists we need, both at home now and when we relocate to an advanced therapy center are what we asking funding for. We may also need new transportation suitable for wheelchair access. Your donations will be used to fund these essential modalities and procedures to insure Barbara's recovery.

<div>In her first days home from hospital Barbara needed liquids administered through a syringe and had to be spoon-fed soft foods, within days she was able to hold and drink from her own cup and feed herself with her left hand. Every day she progresses, adding new words and beginning to string them together making short sentences. Though her speech is slowly improving, it is a long way from her normal ability and we know she needs a professional speech therapist to support greater recovery so once again we can hear her voice. Unfortunately there is none in our present location.

<div>What's amazing is Barbara remembers lyrics from her favorite songs and can sing along which helps connect more neural pathways toward healing. It's also a deeply emotional experience for her. Barbara feels a lot.

<div>Still largely bed bound, she has been able to raise and bend her right leg and, with assistance, get into a wheelchair to enjoy a different perspective on life and see that everything she now practices repeatedly contributes to the progress needed for optimal recovery.
</div>

<div>Our son Zorba arrived to help me the day after she returned home from hospital and we are doing everything we can utilizing local doctors, therapists, and home care angels in our village as well as professional online advice to get her this far along but more skilled therapists in a professional setting are needed as soon as possible. The learning curve has been steep but Barbara has progressed greatly under our care thus far but needs to go further.

<div>These first six months to one year are considered the brain's greatest opportunity for natural healing through its neuroplasticity as it rewires new pathways toward recovery. <div>Now, my life has been suddenly shifted by an overwhelming medical crisis.

<div>On Wednesday night April 15, 2026, I went to bed and woke up hemorrhaging blood from my cervix in the night. I made it to the bathroom, after losing a lot of blood and multiple large clots, I tried to stand up from the toilet but the moment I took a step… it was “lights out” for me, I don’t remember hitting the bathroom wall, falling onto the edge of the bathtub, knocking everything over and collapsing into a crumpled up heap on my bathroom floor. I just remember waking up in my husband’s arms, with him in tears, trying to wake me up. He thought I died in his arms, my skin was pale white and ice cold, I was making a groaning noise, my eyes were open and dilated. It was a traumatic night and the beginning of a new reality for us.

<div>I ended up in the hospital, Michael drove me to the ER. They did an examination, labs, an ultrasound, CT scans. They found a 7cm mass of dysplasia tissue on my cervix. They did an emergency embolism to cauterize a vein and radiation oncology to slow my blood loss. Instead of having average hemoglobin at 12 g/dL, my hemoglobin dropped to 5.2 g/dL. They were finally able to get me stable enough to do a biopsy, results came back, it’s stage 2b cervical cancer.

<div>Sometimes these situations are such a shock to your nervous-system, it’s hard for your mind to even believe you’re going through this thing. I was in the hospital for one week, they discharged me from the hospital, I’m an outpatient for now and we’re working on a cancer treatment plan.

</div>


<div>Our main concern right now, I have severe anemia and fatigue from blood loss, with critically low hemoglobin and red blood cells, doctors told me my heart or other organs could fail from this alone. So I’m doing everything in my power to rebuild my hemoglobin and red blood cells.


</div>

</div>


<div>I am currently facing urgent cancer treatment, mounting medical bills, hospital expenses, and the loss of income as I focus on fighting for my health and survival. The physical, emotional, and financial burden has become more than I can manage alone.

It flooded inside the first floor and the third floor of the house. We must replace the a lot of things before we do any work inside the house. Mold and algae are spreading through the house while we wait.

<div>The storm also completely destroyed our 9000sq foot workshop which was our main source of income. Everything in it has to go. Lahr's Ohana Rebuilding After Fires & Kona Low Storms,

<div>On January 7th, Pio discovered—by pure chance—that he had an
</div>
<div>an "uninvited guest" in his body, as he calls it. He had no major symptoms. In fact, he went for a long run the day before, windsurfed over the weekend, and was living life as usual. During a routine check-up after a blood test, a determined doctor ran a few CT scans and found that Pio had colon cancer, which had spread to his liver and peritoneum. This is a serious condition as it affects the abdomen and the sac that holds all the digestive organs. After receiving the diagnosis, Pio and his family decided to leave Maui on January 18th and move to Oklahoma City, where he started chemotherapy on January 29th.
</div>

</div>
<div>Thanks to a dear friend’s recommendation, Pio found an incredible medical team that quickly began treatment. On February 10th, Pio was accepted at MD Anderson in Houston, one of the top cancer
</div>
<div>centers in the country. His first appointment was on February 27th, where the oncologist confirmed the diagnosis and explained that surgery would not be an option until his condition improves. His next appointment is on March 19th for a follow-up. In addition to medical treatment, Pio is working with a nutritionist in California and following a special diet to support his health. His digestive system is very delicate at the moment, so he can only eat certain foods in small portions every three hours. He has already lost 22 pounds. Despite everything, he remains positive and continues doing what he loves—spending time with his family, working on his spiritual growth, designing and managing MFC Hawaii, collaborating with FCS, and working

<div>on many different projects. As he says, "I love what I do, and it makes me the happiest person on earth, I feel blessed"; His FCS team has been incredibly supportive, as has the KT team. If you know Pio, you know his mindset and dedication to his work and lifestyle.

<div>Moving from Hawaii to the mainland was a necessary step to accelerate his treatment and fight this aggressively. As many of you know, Pio is someone who takes action and doesn’t waste time. Right now, his daughter, Allegra, is in school in the Midwest, staying with her grandmother, while Pio and Gretchen travel between Oklahoma City and Houston for chemotherapy and doctor appointments. One of the hardest parts for them is being away from their daughter and only seeing her on weekends when they can travel back. Additionally, Gretchen had to cancel her European tour and her upcoming summer tour, which has been another financial and career setback.

<div>Pio has a good health insurance, but as you can imagine, not everything is covered. Also, his upgrade only started on February 1st, so all medical expenses before that had to be paid out of pocket. He has been staying in an AirBnB in Oklahoma City, traveling back and forth to Kansas (a 2.5-hour drive each way), driving and staying in Houston, and covering costs for co-pays, supplements, and other therapies not covered by insurance. Expenses are rising quickly, and this is just the beginning of the journey. We kindly ask for your support to help Pio and his family through this challenging time. Let's Help Argon Get Back on the Road for $7000

<div>On December 29, 2024, her twelve-year-old daughter, Phoenix, went to the emergency room at UCSF after unexplained bruising on her legs. Tests revealed a dangerously low platelet and red blood cell count (5,000 platelets - normal range is 150,000 to 450,000). Since then, she has received 8 transfusions. Phoenix is suffering from bone marrow failure and needs a platelet transfusion every 48 hours. UCSF is still trying to get to the cause of this, and here is what we know so far:

<div>1. They have ruled out leukemia.

</div>

</div>

<div>2. They are still waiting on test results to rule out lymphoma/cancer.

</div>

</div>

<div>3. She has been diagnosed with bone marrow failure as her body is not producing red blood cell platelets, and she needs an infusion of more platelets every 48 hours.

</div>

</div>

<div>4. Genetic testing is underway: A buccal swab test was sent to Canada to test for 500 genetic mutations to determine whether this is a rare bone marrow disease. It will take at least another 2 weeks for the results. There was another genetic test done that will take 4 to 6 weeks for the results.

<div>5. One of the country's top hematologists at UCSF Hematology/Oncology has taken on Phoenix's case.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>6. Phoenix will most likely need a bone marrow transplant, and her younger sister Nova could be a match. If Nova is not a match, we will be looking for another possible donor, so stay tuned.

</div>

<div>7. Laura lives in Bolinas, California, and is a single mother to three kids: Stella, 24; Phoenix, 12; and Nova, who is 10. Laura is the sole supporter of Phoenix and Nova. Laura lives in Bolinas, which is remote and too far away from UCSF for her and Phoenix to stay, so she has had to find housing in San Francisco. We are still looking for options for free places to stay, as she still has to pay her living expenses in Bolinas. She currently has a place until January 30th and may also have a place to stay for a couple of weeks in February. Please let us know if you have a place in San Francisco for her to use in the future as we expect this will be needed for some time.

<div>8. Nova, Phoenix’s younger sister, is currently staying in Bolinas with dear friends so she can attend school and have a sense of normalcy at a very challenging time. She is staying with Laura and Phoenix on the weekends and visiting during the week when she can. We may need help with Nova in the future so she can continue attending school in Bolinas.

<div>9. Laura is a self-employed photographer and videographer and is currently unable to work full-time as she cares for Phoenix. With transfusions every 48 hours, ongoing tests, doctors’ appointments, etc., she is limited in how much she can work for the time being.

<div>10. Not all of Phoenix’s expenses are covered by insurance. Some of the tests are very costly, and she may be faced with immunotherapy and other treatments that may not be covered.

<div>My father has always been more than willing to help everyone around him in every way he can, and needs us to return the favor. I recently received the devastating news that my father is in critical condition, and now more than ever needs our help. I’ve been helping him out as much as I possibly can, but because of some unfortunate circumstances in the last few years, all of his money was taken by an extended family member.

<div>As a traveling musician, I have never spent a lot of time with family and have always tended to stay out of family issues and problems. About 7 years ago, I brought in an incredible person to look after my father’s legal and financial affairs since I travel a lot and this was done in a very discreet way.

<div>Before moving to the UK partially in 2020, I noticed there were some bogus things going on in my father’s financials. He worked so much at 78 years old while still having a good amount of income from his social security, rental property, and his side gigs gardening. One time I took him to dinner and asked him why he never had any cash. I mean, at one point I remember auditing his accounts and he was making over $4000 a month.
</div>

<div>My father was a man who saved and saved and saved, and in 2018 he still had $80,000 in the bank. I have always stayed out of his affairs until things started getting weird. I would get alerts from Credit Karma that there were over 13 credit cards on his account and 4 cars out on his credit. But why would an 80-year-old need 4 cars? So after hiring a private investigator, we found out a person he trusted from a prior marriage was stealing and manipulating him. My dad did not want to press charges, and he agreed to allow our family’s legal advisor to take charge. Within a year, he protected all of my father’s remaining assets with a POA, a trust, and an advance directive. Little did I know how important this was going to be in another 4 years.
</div>

<div>Before I left for the UK, I gave my father a choice: he could move, and I would pay a deposit on a house for him, and we could both own it. But he refused, not wanting to leave his friends. His house was in terrible disrepair, with a leaking roof, a rough interior, broken pipes, and broken appliances. So I took money from my savings account and remodeled his home. We did that together, and it gave us both joy to work on this project together. I know that some of you guys were a part of this.

<div>I left my father’s house with many modern appliances and his house completely gutted and redone. He lived like a king, with a remote control bed, a massive TV, and likely the best house in the neighborhood. It was the best gift I could give him.
</div>

<div>I left for the UK happy and in peace. My father had always volunteered at the church, helping more disadvantaged people and feeding the homeless. It was for this reason that during COVID, he got really sick.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I returned to America to look after him and found out his bank account was emptied, someone tried to take his home, and was collecting his tenants’ rent. Again, a car was taken out in his name.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I called our family legal advisor, and he came up with a plan to help my father since he didn’t want to press charges on this person. Again, because a few years ago, we had processed paperwork, it made things easier to defend him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Upon my return, he was entrapped in a skilled nursing facility, and the plans this person had for my father were dark.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With the help of some social workers, the sheriff, and a lawyer, we were able to break him free. The lawyer said the best thing to do was to take my dad back to the UK with me. It was then that his adventure began. I was not financially prepared to look after another person, but it was my father after all. Through hundreds of friends, my father was able to live in France, England, Australia, and Hawaii, all while our attorneys worked hard to secure his safety. It was tough for an 83-year-old at this point to be on tour with a band, but it was an incredible time.

<div><strong>But</strong> <strong>again</strong>, <strong>where</strong> <strong>did</strong> <strong>his</strong> <strong>money</strong> <strong>go</strong>? I mean, we rescued his bank accounts, rent moneys, and all. This person, which I am not ready to name, was taking his money and emptied his accounts on both sides of the border, leaving him almost on the street, all under my nose by using her children to manipulate him and emotionally abuse him in exchange for money.
</div>

<div>This is what I have been living with for 4 years, and now we are here at the crossroads. My father is in very critical shape, not looking good, and he racked up a lot of bills and had nothing prepared for his last days as this person lied to him and said she had all his affairs in order.
</div>

<div>My father never even had a parking ticket or a bill he owed, but I am going to be inheriting all his debt and funeral expenses. Due to looking after him and his legal affairs, it blew through my savings.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Sad for a man who deprived himself of anything good to save and make sure he had a retirement fund, just for it to be taken by a person who abused him and his trust. This happens way too often.
</div>

<div>Aloha, after speaking with some family and friends, I am starting a go fund me for my father Ray Spilsbury. He has unfortunately fallen on some extremely hard times lately. Beyond living with prostate cancer, for the last decade, he had a mini heart attack and had to get a stint put in his heart this week. He could really use some financial support to help out with his living expenses. Ray drives for Door Dash as his primary source of income and to add to the stress his car is completely breaking down.

<div>A little bit about my Dad... My father was drafted into the chemical core, in the army during the Vietnam war, which most likely was the cause of the prostate cancer. Ray loved being a stockbroker for many years and then moved on to selling natural health supplements for the last few decades. His passion was always riding his horses in nature. Now he’s mainly driving for Door Dash and selling supplements here and there. I’ll put a link in case you want to check out his old school website. Ray lives in Salt Lake City now with his wonderful and supportive partner, Susan and her daughter Gabi. I realize that many others are going through tough times as well, and any little bit would help. Asking for a little support for our Dad, Ray

<div>Bounty Music is helping to raise funds for Professor Ed Connor and Genevieve Simpson. They lost everything, including 10 bass guitars, of which two  Ed built himself, in the Lahaina Fires of August 8, 2023, when the condominium they were living in was destroyed. They just made it out with their lives and the clothes on their back and Ed's car was also destroyed. They are presently staying with friends in Kula. This fundraiser is to help provide Professor Ed and Genevieve with basic necessities such as food, clothing, and transportation while they wait for insurance to help. Ed and Genevieve have lived in Lahaina for over 35 years. Professor Ed was a teacher at Lahaina Intermediate School and Lahainaluna High School for over 25 years, He worked as a professional Bass player with the Da Buggas featuring Uncle Willy K and Danny Johnson in the 80's. Professor Ed played with Dr. Lonnie Smith and George Benson among many other musicians at clubs in Lahaina including The Blue Max, Longhi's, The Lahaina Yacht Club, Moose's, as well as the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua. Genevieve was the General Manager at Gerard's Restaurant in Lahaina for 30 years.

Charlie was struck by a car while he was driving his motorcycle on Sunday March 19th.  The car was turning left in front of him and he was ejected from his motorcycle and landed really hard on his back and tailbone . HEALING FUND FOR ARIEL

<div>The fire began in the garage while the family was still sleeping but by the grace of God everyone was able to get out safely, nobody was hurt, and the Kihei Fire Department arrived quickly to contain the fire before any other properties were affected.  The cause is still undetermined, they are awaiting an update from the Fire Inspector.

Kihei family of 6 lost everything in fire

My mother had just set up home hospice for my step-father, things were finally settling down. We had a great conversation in the evening, the next day everything was gone. They evacuated so quickly all they were able to save was the clothes they were wearing, the wheelchair, and the car to get out.  They are currently in a hotel in Ashland, hospice has been amazing and has set up a temporary situation in the hotel. As you can imagine expenses are piling up. Anything will help them sustain through this devastating turn of events. Funds will be used for their emergency weekly hotel, medicines, and basic needs.
