Without hesitation, she stopped everything, took my hands, and began to pray with such sincerity and love that it brought tears to my eyes. She didn’t just say a quick prayer she meant it.

<div>Afterward, she said, “If I had a coat, I’d give you one.” Then she shared that she had actually given away all her husband’s jackets after he passed away from cancer.

<div>That moment hit me deeply — her kindness, her loss, and her willingness to give even when she had little left. I told her that I had $1,000 to bless her for her compassion. She broke down crying and said her husband had always been the primary provider, and since losing him, she’s been struggling to keep her home.

My name is Bethany, and I am a year into my recovery journey. I am almost finished with my peer support specialist training, and I currently work full time at McDonald's. Soon, I will be working professionally in courts, clinics, and the community, using my experience to help others who are facing similar challenges.

 One of the biggest obstacles I face right now is my dental health. I have been approved for financing to get dentures, but I need help with the down payment. Because of my current tooth and gum decay, I can't eat healthy foods, and I don't even own a mirror in my home—I love myself, but I struggle when I see my reflection. Having dentures will not only allow me to eat better, but it will also give me the confidence I need to advocate for my peers and serve my community with pride.
