<div><span>We wanted to give an update on Luke’s condition- this morning Luke has been awake and alert after undergoing surgery from his traumatic car accident. They took out his breathing and feeding tubes, so he can talk now and is cracking jokes, but still showing signs of a serious concussion. He wants to know what happened and if he is going to recover. He said he was very concerned that he was going to be a vegetable the rest of his life, but thank god he is doing so well and being so responsive. He endured serious life changing injuries in this crash and it may take months to years for him to establish normalcy and walk again in his life. On top of that he faces over $500,000 in medical debt. If you have the means, please consider donating and sharing his go fund me. We so appreciate everyone’s support, prayers and donations! <div>I’m Luke’s sister Alexis. Some of you know him as James, at home we call him by his middle name Luke because James is also our dads name. Luke was in a head on collision on A1A only minutes from making it home after school. The accident happened Thursday, October 5th around 3:30pm. His vehicle was completely totaled, and they had to extricate him from the vehicle and airlift him to the nearest hospital to the trauma center. We all love Luke so dearly, and this was worst news to hear. He’s the most loving, affectionate, sweet, kindhearted, intelligent, talented and strong baby brother, and has the most beautiful spirit and vitality. I love him so much, and I’ll always think of him as my sweet baby brother. I stayed with him in the hospital all day with my mom when he was born. I was 8 years old and was so in love with him. I can’t bare to see him in so much pain. All we know so far is that he has no major permanent brain damage that we know of, he isn’t paralyzed, he broke all of the bones in his left leg, his left ankle, his right wrist, has a laceration in his liver, and deep lacerations on his head. He was sedated and intubated, and is undergoing surgery. Please pray for him and support in any way you can. He doesn’t have health insurance, and his medical bills are looking to be at least $300,000 so far. My family is in no position to be able to pay for all of this. Luke is a college student paying his own way through EFSC, and working at Publix part time and living at home with our parents to save money. He doesn’t have a lot. We would greatly appreciate any support you can afford with his exorbitant medical bills so he won’t be in debt the rest of his life. Please share this post with your friends and family. Head on collision med bills, brother James Luke

Our son Noah Liam Martin was born prematurely  on June 8th at 7:01am weighing 5 pounds 9 ounces. During the pregnancy we discovered that his heart had a right aortic arch with vascular ring, a heart defect that can be problematic long term and depending on the severity, may require surgery.  Immediately after giving birth when he was placed on his Mom's chest it was apparent that there was an issue with his skin. He was bright red and his skin was peeling off in layers from his head, face, neck, shoulders, arms, stomach, back, groin, legs, and feet. After holding him for fifteen minutes he had to be taken to the measuring table where they examined the condition of his skin and discovered that his body temperature was alarmingly low. They prepared a heat sack wrapped him in plastic and swaddled him in several blankets, fearing the use of the heat lamp would be damaging to his peeled skin and cause him an extensive amount of pain. He was immediately transported to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital NICU for isolation, further assessment and diagnosis but are still uncertain as to what exactly is causing his skin to peel off in this manner. In addition to his skin being the biggest barrier of protection from infection it is also what keeps moisture from leaving the body. Because his skin is so comprised, he is extremely vulnerable to infection and runs a very high risk of dehydration and loss of moisture and nutrients that are necessary for him to stay alive. We know very little as of right now about the severity of the condition, the full extent of the risk of infection and the state of the infections that he has already sustained. They are treating his entire body with ointment several times a day and keeping him wrapped in ointment treated mesh, gauze and a special treated netting which holds moisture in the body and protects his exposed layers of skin from the open air and environment. They put in a peripheral IV line in his hand for fluids and a PICC line under his leg in his groin area which runs directly to his heart in order to give him antibiotics, specially formulated nutrients, and medicine to help ease the pain he's experiencing. He had to be sedated and put on oxygen in order to get him comfortable and keep him still enough to do the imaging and the procedure. A team of Geneticists, Dermatologists, Cardiologists, Endocrinologist, Doctors and Nurses are literally working around the clock to keep him hydrated and clean and as comfortable as possible while they research and try to determine what this is, how severe of a case he has and what the best treatment options are while we wait for the results of the biopsy and genetic tests. The staff is absolutely amazing, we are so lucky that he is where he is..truly we could not ask for a better team. We don’t know how much longer he will be in the NICU or what his life will be like moving forward, but we do know that we will do anything and everything we can to manage his having to live with this condition and help to make him as comfortable and happy as he can be. The money that we are trying to raise through this Go Fund Me will be going to assist in paying the hospital bills that aren’t covered by insurance, to offset the financial impact that the loss of work will have on our living expenses as we go through this very frightening and difficult time in our lives and the beginning of our son Noah's life, and most importantly to help us be able to provide him with the care that he is going to need to live a good life moving forward. <div>Heather Callahan, our dear friend, mumma, second mama, daughter, fiancé, and so much more, contracted Covid late October and a few days later had to be admitted to the hospital for shortness of breath. She was soon put on a bypap machine to help her breathe and remained on it from Oct. 28 - Dec. 4. On Saturday morning, Dec. 4 she was emergency intubated, sedated, and put on a ventilator because her oxygen levels were rapidly dropping. She has been on the ventilator since, heavily sedated in a coma-like state so that she is hopefully not in much pain and resting peacefully. The ventilator is breathing for her—performing the expansion and contraction her lungs need.

<div>There has been a small amount of improvement and we are hoping and praying for a full recovery. Thankfully Heather is vaccinated and doctors say that has saved her life thus far. We do know, however, that her healing journey will take a long time. We have been told that recovery may take up to a year and if/when she makes it off the ventilator she will need to be in a long term assisted care home for quite some time.

<div>Heather spent the last 2 years as a primary caretaker for her daughter Scarlett, struggling with a leukemia diagnosis and the treatment that came along with it. From Jan. 2020 - Aug. 2020, Scarlett required full-time care so Heather had to leave her veterinary technician job at The Humane Society. She began working at another vet clinic in September and soon after, fell sick.

Andre was a star football player from little league at pop warner, to playing for MCC highschool in Melbourne, Holy trinity in Melbourne and Melbourne Highschool. <p>Scarlett was diagnosed with AML leukemia last year. After undergoing chemo and a bone marrow transplant, she is cancer FREE which is amazing! However, Scarlett is on the difficult road to recovery from post transplant difficulties and complications. She has been in and out of the hospital all of 2020 which has had a toll on her and her family, as well as their pockets.

My niece, Maddie Goode, a beautiful, sweet and driven young girl has recently been diagnosed with Leukemia.  We are all hurting and sad and want to support her and her family as much as possible.  Maddie is thoughtful, her heart is big and full of kindness which she readily shares with many.  She’s dedicated, she’s loving and loyal.  Maddie is in the middle of her senior in high school, applying to and visiting colleges, planning for her future.  She is interested in medicine; has been volunteering at the hospital once a week while attending her high school and college classes.    She loves to be with her friends and her family.  Needless to say. her life has changed drastically in the past few weeks.<br /><br />In late October, she became unexpectantly ill with a high fever for multiple days.  When Maddie didn’t improve, more tests resulted in a diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  Desperately shocked and saddened, her family is working with a team of doctors in Tampa at the respected Moffitt Cancer Center to give her the best care possible.  This requires Maddie and her mother, Paige, to temporarily live over two hours away from their home with weekly visits from family.   It is difficult being away from home, Maddie misses talking to her friends, she misses her pets Mocha, Junie and Prince, relaxing in her own bedroom, her part-time job, her senior year activities, dances and events.<br /><br />We are raising funds to provide some comfort during this difficult time.  This money will go towards the income that is lost while Paige is out of work caring for her daughter and health insurance costs needed during the time off.  We ask that you donate to help with these costs and help alleviate some of the financial worries that come with this unexpected illness.<br /><br />We sincerely thank you for helping support Maddie through this journey, financially and emotionally.<br /><br />Note - Please be aware there is an optional tip added by default that goes to GoFundMe and not Maddie. Native resident of Melbourne Beach Fl, Kane Ivers-Osthus, 24, completed his undergrad degree at the University of Florida in Gainesville.  At the beginning of 2017, he accepted a position at the Temple University in Philadelphia, PA as a Graduate Assistant, and was promoted to Full Time as an equipment assistant.  Kane was one of the staff that Coach Collins hired after working with Kane for two years at the University of Florida where Coach Collins was the Defensive Coordinator.  Kane was admitted to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and later was diagnosed with Leukemia.  Kane is just beginning his fight and needs all the love and support that we can give.  Everyone that knows Kane knows what an awesome genuine person he is.   He always has a positive attitude and a smile on his face.  Kane has long fight ahead of him and we want to help him and his family through this difficult time.

<div>My name is Victoria Smith, and I have been married to Todd Smith for almost 34 years now. My youngest sister-in-law, Leslye Smith, was diagnosed approximately five years ago at the age of 44 with a very aggressive form of colon cancer, and an emergency surgery was performed.

<div>Fast forward five years, multiple surgeries, it has been a nonstop fight with medications that were working, then quit working, and horrible side effects, along with nonstop visits to Moffitt in Tampa. Amazingly, she has been able to work part-time, but is in quite a bit of pain now after having another surgery due to a growth in her abdomen area. Right now, she’s having wound healing issues, she cannot work, and she can’t get additional treatment until this is healed. If you were to look at her, you would never in a million years dream of what she has been through!

She has three grown kids and two grandchildren who I truly believe keep her fighting, along with an awesome husband, Jason, and wonderful parents! As you can imagine, over the last five years, the amount of money spent is more than I could ever know. Jason and Leslye have fought this battle together, and we can only pray that she at some point gets into remission. I was amazed looking at her pictures; you would never know she was sick, and all of her pictures are with family, friends, kids, and grandkids.

<div><strong>They really need this GoFundMe to keep food on the table, for gas to drive to Tampa for treatment, co-pays for medications that insurance doesn’t cover, or payments for treatment.</strong> Insurance will not cover medications or treatments because they are not FDA approved yet and sometimes considered a clinical trial. <strong>My greatest wish would be for her to go into total remission and for the cancer to stop spreading.</strong> At 49 years old, you should be looking forward to the things that you want to do in life when you retire! I know they would love to go on a longer cruise if she was medically able, take a trip out to see the Grand Canyon, but most of all, be here to see her kids and grandkids grow up!
