Today I met an 81-year-old man named Gary at Walmart.
I asked him if he could help me buy baby food. He didn’t know me, and even though he’s behind on his house payment and worried about losing his home, he still said yes.
Afterward, I gave him $500 to thank him for his kindness.
He was shocked and started to tear up as he told me his story.
Gary is 81 years old and a Vietnam veteran who has already given so much in his life. Right now, he’s going through a really hard season.
He’s behind on his mortgage and afraid he might lose the home he’s lived in for years. He’s also battling skin cancer. On top of that, someone recently broke into his car and stole many of his belongings, including his phone.
He’s doing everything he can to stay afloat, but it’s been overwhelming and his wife just got laid off from her job.
And even with all of that, he still chose to help a stranger.
Someone like Gary shouldn’t have to go through this alone.
Let’s come together and help him stay in his home, fight cancer, and find some peace in this season of his life.
Do your thing, internet ❤️
