<div>There was a big fire at a transitional housing building on 43rd in Manhattan a few nights ago, and when a firefighter tried to nab this poor kitty, it plummeted 3 stories to the hard ground. Miraculously, he jumped up and ran, but not without some pretty serious injuries.

<div>I do rescue in the neighborhood independently with Kim Corrigan so a neighbor pinged me with messages within minutes saying the Citizen app showed a video of a cat falling. Kim and I ran over there to see if we could help and got there while the firemen were still battling the blaze.
</div>

</div>
<div>We found that another fireman had secured the injured little guy, named <strong>"Goldie," a beautiful ginger kitty</strong>, and he was in the arms of his owner, a resident at the building. Both were in shock and almost motionless.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Goldie was bloodied up from the fall, and we thought maybe he had a broken hip, and his mouth was definitely injured—full of blood. We worried his jaw was broken. We were lucky enough to get the help of @TheAnimalProjectNYC, who told us to bring him right to them. They gave him pain meds, examined him, and made arrangements with @brilliantvet to see him.

<div>The vet determined that miraculously, Goldie didn't have any broken bones. He does, however, have a split lip and many deep scrapes from the fall. He needed to be monitored for concussion and to make sure he wasn't suffering from the after-effects of a fall to the concrete, and will need surgery to repair his lips with stitches so he can eat properly. He has been staying over at the vets for medical care and to be watched.

<div>His owner, who clearly loves Goldie with all his heart, was crying when he handed Goldie to us, begging us to help his kitty. He told us his apartment was burned, and he didn't know where he would go or if they could place him someplace else within the building. The gentleman did not even have a cell phone for us to follow up with him, so we gave him our info and whisked Goldie to get emergency care. His owner is relieved to hear Goldie is being looked after and looks forward to being reunited.

<div><strong>We are fundraising to cover Goldie's medical expenses, including sedation, stitches, meds, and ongoing care.</strong> We hope to raise enough to cover the vet bill and have a little leftover to help the owner keep Goldie—this would require helping him with flea meds, a good stock of food, a collar, and litter, etc.

Help Goldie CAT who FELL 3 STORIES FROM A BURNING BUILDING!

<div>I got a text from a Facebook friend @liz_kern_designs

<div>that someone spotted a small orange kitty near at Lincoln Center. <strong>It was Valentine's Day and it was going to be 19 degrees outside</strong>, so my rescue friend @kimcorrigan and I went looking for her. We only knew she was "near the library next to the statue behind some chairs". Well no chairs - no kitty, but we did see signs it had been there eating. After three hours we ourselves were too cold to hunt anymore, and hoped she had found a warm spot.

<div>The following day we got word the cat was in a very busy parking garage - across the street. This meant this little gal made her way across the mall at Lincoln Center, down some stairs, and across traffic to the Rose Garage and then down two levels. <strong>What a survivor!</strong>
</div>

<div>I can't tell you how dangerous a parking garage is for a kitten - moving vehicles 24 hours a day, too many warm engines for her to be crushed in if someone starts the car with her inside the engine. We were terrified for her. The guys at Rose Garage were wonderfully helpful and two days later this terrified, emaciated, ginger girl made her way into the trap and we got her!

<div>However, <strong>her journey has only just begun.</strong> I NEED HELP. She was grossly under weight, had an obvious eye infection, was wheezing and choking, and had a bloody discharge from her nose. Yet the miserable little sweetheart let me pet her with one finger thru the cage. <strong>This rescue is not going to be a quick treatment and find here a home - she will need to be socialized and her medical care is going to be a slow, expensive process. </strong>

<div>Her vet visit cost over $1000. <strong>Remember I AM NOT A RESCUE GROUP - or a 501C3. This is just my rent money going to the cat.</strong> :) The bill was for the exam, feline HVI &amp; FLV tests, bacterial tests, medication, 2 x sedation, eye stain tests, ear cytology, medicine for bacterial skin infections<strong>, </strong> injections for antibiotics and steroids, a fecal test, and medicine for round worms. blood tests etc..
</div>

</div>
<div>The cost of the visit was high because she had to be <strong>double sedated</strong> for them to examine her mouth and nose and eyes, and she needed lots of medication. After a thorough exam the poor baby has way too many health problems for a 5 month old cat!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>She was having trouble breathing, and has a <strong>severe upper respiratory infection</strong>, which had to be treated with antibiotics, and will be followed up with more antibiotics if the first round doesn't make it subside. Infection in her nose was bad - bloody bad.
</li>
<li>She has a terrible, rotting smell coming from her mouth, and it turns out it isn't just bad teeth. She has Stomatitis which is a term for extensive, chronic and <strong>painful inflammation</strong> in the mouth and gums. <strong>This is one of the most frustrating challenges for a vet or pet parent as is is difficult to treat. </strong>it's caused by a response to external bacteria that makes the affected cats' <strong>immune systems go haywire. She has ulcers, bleeding gums, and a bumpy infection on the walls of her mouth. Needless to say she is in pain. </strong>She is being treated with antibiotics, and we will wait and see how she responds, but <strong>may have to have her teeth pulled</strong>. I know from experience with my own rescue cat - <strong>teeth removal is extremely expensive. </strong>
</li>
<li>She had a radical ear fungus and swelling in her ear canals. The kitty was <strong>oozing brown gunk and had build up in both ears. </strong> She has been treated with anti fungal ear drops and will need to see the vet again for a status in a couple weeks.
</li>
<li>She has <strong>very bad conjunctivitis</strong>. This is common in small street kittens and usually results in the eye being removed if the infection goes untreated. We are lucky, she was rescued in time and with antibiotic medication, topical antiviral eye drops, and time, her eyes hopefully will go back to normal. If it turns out to be Parasitic, she will need different meds. In addition, she has <strong>Chemosis</strong>, a condition where the membranes that line the eyelid and surface of the eye appear to have fluid in them, likely from the Conjunctivitis. <strong>This is painful and just awful for a cat.</strong>
</li>
<li>She had a <strong>toothpick type stick stuck between her toes</strong> - possibly someone intentionally stuck it there as it was not in an open spot that could have got it from walking? Her paw will be fine now with topical ointment - but ouchie!
</li>
<li>She is dehydrated and malnourished - this could partially be because of her mouth - she is eating but without proper care eating will be painful and she could stop eating.
</li>
<li>She has not been spayed - so there is that cost coming too.
</li>

<div>This gorgeous cat has fur like an Abyssinian. She was fairly clean, no fleas, and it appears she may have at one point someones cat. She was possibly dumped - maybe because of the care needed for her mouth? I mean how did this little creature get onto the upper mall of Lincoln Center? There are few homes in the surrounding block?

<div>PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU CAN WITH EVEN A SMALL DONATION. I can not afford her care - <strong>I have recently ended my work contract and currently looking for my next paycheck. </strong>This could not have come at a worse time. Parking Lot Kitten Losing Fur and Hope Needs Help!

<div>Hey everyone, this is Spencer with SB Mowing! In my most recent video, while I was cleaning up an overgrown lawn I found an injured cat hidden deep in the grass. He was visibly hurt with an abscess under his arm that was pretty infected. He couldn't move and seemed like he was ready to lay there until he passed away from infection. I wasn't sure what to do so I called 4 different numbers including the city animal rescue, humane society, and other cat rescues but none of them wanted to take him on. Finally, I called Edgar and Ivy's Cat Sanctuary and they told me to bring him in and they would fix him up. Turns out they specialize in taking on injured, hurt, and abused cats. They also pull cats off of the euthanasia lists from all the other places I called.

<div>On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, my world was turned upside down. My beautiful nine-month-old female puppy named Maize was axed in the skull – without any warning or provocation – by David Askew III (aka Zake). This heinous attack occurred in broad daylight in Aliquippa, PA while Maize and I were out on our routine walk. There are witnesses who saw this heinous attack.

<div>According to PA court records, Mr. Askew was criminally charged with criminal homicide and conspiracy to commit murder which he served several years for in prison. Please understand that it was not an easy decision for me to go public with this, but I must seek justice for my precious Maize.
</div>

<div>After slamming the axe in Maize’s head, Mr. Askew took off running. I was in shock and fear as blood poured from Maize head onto the ground. Her left ear was hanging from her head. The sound of the axe going in Maize’s head and the blood pouring from her repeatedly play in my mind. I will never forget it. I picked up Maize and started walking toward my home which was about a mile away from the attack. A friend of mine drove by and gave Maize and I a ride to the veterinary hospital where the vet required an upfront payment of $12,000 before they would operate on Maize. There was no guarantee that Maize would even survive the attack, but I was not ready to say goodbye to Maize. A good Samaritan stepped up to save Maize so surgery could take place. Saving Maize’s life was the only thing on my mind.

<div>Maize now has only one ear and can only hear out of one ear. She has a lifelong injury/disability. She as you can see is and was the most beautiful puppy! Maize faces a long and difficult road to recovery. She currently has staples in her head, and has a colostomy bag/tube, and is on lots of mediation. (Other complications – eating, walking, confusion, bowels, etc.). My Mazie used to be so rambunctious and full of life, but she does a lot of sleeping and is anxious and fearful. I lay awake at night wondering why this happened to Maize, but there are no answers for hate and evil. I do realize that my life was in danger as well. This is a total nightmare, and I need all the help that I can get.

<div>I am pleading for support to help with the continued care required for Maize’s recovery. I currently do not have a vehicle; so, I have to pay for transportation to on-going Vet appointments starting now. The money that I have to pour into Maize greatly impacts money that is normally budgeted for dog food and routine care for my other dogs as well as my living expenses. The senseless attack on Maize has caused me extreme emotional suffering, and I am not ashamed to admit that I need counseling to deal with this trauma. It is okay not to be okay, and I am in pain. I still can't believe the violence that Maize and I suffered that day. My life and Maize's life changed forever on our daily walk. We became victims of violence!

<div>Deli cat went to a foster and was pleased to be with another cat, warm and safe. Unfortunately - he had to be rushed to an emergency vet when he became lethargic and seemed to be in pain. These tests, ultra sound,  and ER vet are very costly - but the rescue and foster didn't hesitate to rush him for care.

<div>Last week a Hell’s Kitchen neighbor reached out to me about a senior deli cat that was being neglected and abused. Poor guy was left behind by the previous owners and the new people not only didn’t want him, they didn’t feed him and removed food and bedding neighbors left for him. He was so starving and dehydrated that he was groggy and licking the air for relief.

<div>Imagine living your whole life in that deli, and then suddenly no one wants you there and sends you out in the freezing cold, takes away any kindness or food left by neighbors?

<div>To make it worse, an employee that got fired kicked the cat on the way out!

<div>The neighbors said since then kitty has lost almost half his body weight and wasn’t eating. This poor old kitty was left to find warmth on an empty shelf or in the basement.

<div>So I met the neighbor and took this old gent out of harms way. And guess who stepped up to help save him? @puppykittyNYC!!

<div>He’s been to the vet and has some thyroid and health issues . He’s going to need medication and several more vet visits.

<div>The good news? He’s warm, feels safe, and is eating like a champ in @puppykittyNYC facility.

Rushed to Emergency Vet!

<span style="color:rgb(51,51,51);">As many know that will read this Sean Hubbert suffered a major heart attack on Tuesday 11/21/23.</span><br /><span style="color:rgb(51,51,51);">He received immediate wonderful care at Long Beach Memorial hospital.</span><br /><span style="color:rgb(51,51,51);">He had to have emergency open heart surgery, quadruple bypass but is beating all of the odds. </span><br /><span style="color:rgb(51,51,51);">Sean is the sole income for our family. I will be actively looking for a job that I can work from home to care for him during recovery but everything is going to take a minute. </span><br /><span style="color:rgb(51,51,51);">Asking feels very awkward. I don’t know what medical bills are coming our way? I do know Sean works his but off and has for his entire adult life. I have stayed home after our daughter Kodi was born but need to jump back in! </span><br /><span style="color:rgb(51,51,51);">Anyone hiring for Labor Relations? Emergency Vet Expenses for Sebastian

<div>Yesterday, 08/28,  during our early morning daily commute to location along the Caribbean Coast of Colombia, our production pickup truck hit and severely injured a 5 month old puppy. With no owner in sight,  we thought the obvious thing to do was to rush her to medical attention as fast as possible.  The closest small clinic in Palomino, was still 45 minutes away. It was 7:30am and the Vet's clinic didn't open until 9am.

<div>When the Vet finally arrived, Dr. Monica of Nativa Atencion Animal, was quite limited with her resources but did what she could for the puppy we decided to call Fresa, and recommended that we get her to Santa Marta, over an hour away.

<div>Around mid afternoon, we received a text from Dr. Monica that Fresa was in extreme amounts of pain and needed to get to the clinic in Santa Marta ASAP.  My colleague and I were in a quandary as to what to do since we were entrenched at work in the Jungle.

<div>Not long after, Dr. Monica sent another message that she had a person, Kerly, who was willing to take Fresa to the Clinic in SM City; however, we needed to cover Fresa's x-rays, clinic care, as well Kerly's bus fare and expenses.  We were frustrated but determined and figured out how to get money from our room, also an hour away,  and have someone meet Kerly in front of our hotel and hand off the money to her out the window of the bus.  
</div>

</div>
<div>Kerly makes it with our pup to the clinic in Santa Marta, is x-rayed and we learn that she has 3 fractures on both legs.  We are relieved to learn that her spine and hips are fine but she needs to have surgery asap to insert rods into both legs; however, the only dog orthopedist in Santa Marta is currently out of the country and won't be back for weeks.  Another obstacle but we are not deterred.

<div>Kerly tells us that there is a clinic in Barranquilla, 3 hours away and that she will coordinate with the clinic for Fresa's surgery.  Not to bore you with the logistical and communication nightmare, but Kerly is amazing.  She took Fresa that night to friend's in Santa Marta where they comforted and spoiled her. The following morning, Kerly with Fresa, took a bus and made the journey to  the clinic in Barranquilla.

<div>Fresa had surgery today 8/29 around 3 pm.  It was a complicated surgery but she is expected to make a solid recovery.  Tomorrow she will be brought back to Palomino and we are currently coordinating  with a couple of dog foundations to help her convalesce and find her a loving home.

<div>We are thrilled by the good news and confident that she live a happy and healthy life and share her love sweetness for her future owners. 
</div>

<div>Currently, all costs associated with Fresa are being covered solely by us.  We feel it's our responsiblity as it was our vehicle and our fault.   With   transportation, assistance, and medical attention,  Fresas's care has become increasingly pricey. Right now we have spent approximately US $1,000.  We think her recovery which will include removing the rods in her legs several months from now will be another US $500.  We are estimating  a total of US $1,500.  If there is money left over, we intend to donate it to Nativa Atencion Animal and the organizations that collaborate with them.

<div>Aloha friends and family. Our friend, employee, and all around family man lost his house this last Tuesday in the Kula fire. While the news has focused on the tragic events of Lahaina we want everyone to know there was also a tragic fire in Kula. Dom and his family have lived in their home on Kulalani Circle for 18 years. They are staples in this neighborhood. His wife, Judnia works at our local market Morihara store. His kids are athletes and students. Not pictured here is his nephew he took in to live with them.

<div>On Tuesday night, Dom fought the fire himself at his house as long as he could. He retreated when firefighters told him to leave. 
</div>
<div>The Hertin family has lost everything they have. We are asking for any help to get them out of this terrible time. Anything helps. We love you Maui. We love you Dom and family.
