<div>Hello, my name is Mohammed Saif, and I am a medical student from Sudan. Before the war broke out, I was studying medicine in Egypt, working hard to become a doctor and help my community. But when the war reached my hometown, everything changed.

<div>My house in Sudan was destroyed during the conflict, and I had to flee with my family to Egypt using the last of my savings. We arrived safely, but now we face many challenges. I am doing my best to support my family here while trying to continue my medical education—but it has become almost impossible.

<div>Between rent, food, and school fees, the pressure is overwhelming. I want to finish my studies and be able to give back, both to my family and to all those suffering from lack of healthcare, especially in war-torn regions like my home.

<div>It's Ahmad Abu Eida, a graphic designer who lost his job, his home, and many beloved family members and friends due to the continuous nightmare my country has been enduring.

<div>I never imagined I would have to start a fundraising campaign. But life’s relentless hardships and the constant displacement have left me with no choice but to knock on every possible door — not for luxury, but simply to survive and protect my family of nine.

<div>Poverty, hunger, and suffering were never a choice I made — they were forced upon me for over a year and a half. I’ve been displaced more times than I can count. Like so many others from my homeland, I now find myself in desperate need — not just for myself, but to provide the most basic needs for my family and preserve our dignity.

<div>My father suffers from chronic illnesses — diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease — and requires regular medication. Due to the extreme malnutrition, especially in the northern regions, his health is rapidly deteriorating.

<div>During my journey of bitter  displacement in Khan Younis, I volunteered in partnership with the Palestinian Friends of the Environment Association to raise awareness among displaced people about infectious diseases caused by the lack of personal hygiene supplies and overcrowding in displacement camps, driven by my strong belief in fulfilling my duty toward my people.

<div>My name is Ghazi Mekawi, a 22-year-old student studying laboratory medicine at Al-Azhar University. I come from a peaceful family that lived in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in the Gaza Strip. Like many families here, we faced challenges of unemployment and the harshness of daily life — yet, before the war, we held on to moments of joy, love, and hope.

<div>But everything changed on October 7, 2023.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>When the war on Gaza erupted, life as we knew it crumbled. Sleep — once a fleeting escape from the hardships of reality — became a terrifying ordeal. We no longer worried about making ends meet. Instead, we feared whether we would live to see another sunrise or perish like so many friends and neighbors around us. The sound of bombs became a brutal lullaby, and survival turned into our only goal.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In those early days of war, my relatives and uncles sought refuge in our home, believing it to be safer. But on October 13, 2023, everything unraveled. My older brother received a chilling call from the occupation forces, ordering us to evacuate immediately and flee south. Fear gripped us. We gathered what little we could carry and fled our neighborhood — leaving behind our home, my family’s shop, our belongings, and the memories of a life we once cherished.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We sought shelter in Al-Maghazi camp, where we thought we might find safety. But after just 12 days, on October 25, 2023, a nearby bakery was bombed. Shrapnel tore into my left foot, leaving me injured. My brother suffered burns to his face. The house we were staying in was partially destroyed. Yet it was the only roof over our heads, so we patched it up as best we could.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But the bombings didn’t stop.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On November 4, 2023, the same bakery was bombed again. Thankfully, none of us were hurt, but by then, the message was clear: no place in Gaza was truly safe. We continued to endure, trapped between survival and despair.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Then, on January 3, 2024, ground forces entered Al-Maghazi camp. We were trapped, surrounded by tanks and soldiers. There was no water, no food, no escape. We sat in darkness, listening to the relentless shelling, waiting for death to knock on our door.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Miraculously, on January 7, 2024, we managed to escape under the cover of bombardment and made our way to Rafah. There, with no relatives or friends to turn to, we built a makeshift tent — a temporary shelter for my family and me.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But even that refuge didn’t last. On May 28, 2024, after relentless bombing on Rafah’s Mawasi area, we were displaced for the sixth time. Six times we fled, and each time, we left behind another piece of our shattered lives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I’ve lost my home. I’ve lost my family’s livelihood. I’ve lost friends who once brought joy to my life. The war has taken almost everything.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Yet the most painful loss is the feeling of helplessness — the inability to protect my family, to give them safety, to provide hope. In moments of despair, dark thoughts crept in. I thought about ending it all just to escape the humiliation and pain.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But I’m still here.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Despite everything, I refuse to give in to death and despair. I’m holding on, clinging to life, searching for a way to rebuild what the war has taken from me and my family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I’m sharing my story with you not just as a plea for help, but as a call to humanity. I ask you to see Gaza through my eyes — through the eyes of a 22-year-old who dreams of peace, education, and a future free from fear and destruction.

Due to the devastating war that started on <strong>April 15/2023 </strong>and created tragic conditions, my educational journey substantially disrupted and this was excruciating for me. My family and I were forced to flee our home in the capital city Khartoum after a <strong>Rapid Support Forces (RSF) unit </strong>broke into our house and arrested my father and brother, but thankfully they sent them free after five hours and we moved to the White Nile State. Against our will, we settled there for half a year, and we spent all of our savings on food, clean water, medical supplies, and rent <strong>(which was very expensive)</strong>.

Unfortunately, the tuition fees are very high, and me and my family cannot afford them. We lost everything we had in this war and my parents lost their jobs and savings, and it is impossible to secure this amount even if we all work day and night.

I studied a diploma in Agricultural Engineering at Al-Azhar University and studied E-Marketing at Al-Quds Open University. Unfortunately, I wasn’t as lucky as other graduates to work in my field of study. I have been accustomed to freelancing since I was 16 years old. I worked in a clothing store, an ice cream shop, a household goods store, a barbershop, and I cultivated the land to provide for my family, being the eldest son to a father who was consumed by that malignant disease that devoured his pure body. I worked hard to provide treatment for my father and tried to send him abroad, never imagining his loss in any way! But my efforts to help him survive were not enough to face our eternal enemy who committed a massacre against my sick father and my family. Let me tell you the details of the incident for those who still have humanity to read about our tragedy.

<div>With the sunset in 2014, during an evening family gathering where we were trying to drown out the catastrophic sounds of rockets and shelling outside, I sat beside my father, speaking with a tone full of optimism about his improving health and our victory over this vile disease. But the occupier had another opinion. That evening, he decided to take away my beloved father and what remained of his health with a reconnaissance missile to threaten us by bombing the house, taking with him my elder sister, the flower of our home, and my uncles, grandmother, and uncle’s wife. My siblings, cousins, and I were all injured. Our entire family almost got wiped off the civil registry in an attempt to threaten us by bombing the house. I wonder, had they not issued this threat, what would have been the difference between what happened and what would have happened?

<div>My dear father was martyred in my arms, beside my heart. His pure soul ascended to heaven, and with him ascended all my efforts to preserve what was left of his health. A thousand kisses and peace be upon his soul and theirs.

<div>Continuing with my story, as I mentioned, I am the eldest son, and especially after that fateful incident, I had to take care of my family, consisting of my mother and my five siblings: Mohammed, Nancy, Dania, Kenan, and Rakan. Mohammed is studying abroad, Nancy and Dania are at university, and my wife is also part of our family. Kenan had the most severe injury among us, miraculously saved from certain death after traveling for treatment abroad, suffering nerve damage with some lingering effects on his body. As for Rakan, along with his physical injuries, he suffered psychologically from witnessing the martyrdom of our family before his small eyes, which caused a delay in his speech due to the shock of the horrifying scene.

<div>After my father's passing, we rebuilt a family house at a cost of $45,000, and alongside my work here and there, I was able, thanks to God, to build a residential apartment to live in and start a family, which cost me $35,000. After five years, I opened my own business, a barbershop, at a cost of $6,000. But as usual, this occupier, who is accustomed to taking everything we have, left us with nothing but memories.

<div>After trying to overcome this pain, my uncle Raed took my father’s place, providing us with moral and financial support, reuniting our family, and was God’s gift to our tired hearts. He was with me in building my own family, in my engagement, and in building my house, involved in every detail of my life. At some point, he too proposed to a girl and started a family, but in the 2021 war, my uncle, my second father, was taken away from us, that groom whom the angels escorted to heaven. I can never forget my sister Nancy's post about him: “They say the uncle is like a father, and I have become an orphan once again.”

<div>After this incident, I got married and started my own family, and I now have a beautiful child, may God protect him. But since his birth, my child has been suffering from a hole in his heart, a medical condition called VSD. We had to keep a close watch on his tiny heart as it grew, hoping he would be in good health, God willing.

</div>
<div>In this extermination and the war of death (2023), on the twentieth day of the war, the occupation forces destroyed my family's house and my house completely, leveling the place and destroying the infrastructure of my city, Beit Hanoun. A few days later, they destroyed my workplace, the barbershop I was running to provide a decent life for two families. Now, I no longer have a home, a job, or any means of survival, and I am unable to rise from beneath this catastrophe, while there are people depending on me to provide for them with the bare minimum to continue living.

<div>On the first day of the war, we evacuated Beit Hanoun on foot at midnight after receiving the first threat message, with my young son, my mother, my wife, and my younger siblings crying behind me, heading into the unknown, only walking with the crowd until we ended up at a school in the Jabalia camp. After that, we moved to the Sheikh Radwan area, but the bombing of the Karama towers was so intense that glass fell on our heads, so we decided to evacuate to a shelter in the Al-Jalaa area. Later, the occupier dropped leaflets ordering us to go to the southern part of the Strip. Since our family had already tasted pain, we had to obey their damned orders and moved to a shelter in Rafah. We were shocked to hear about our grandfather’s passing in Deir al-Balah, but again we weren’t safe. Death visited us once more, forcing us to flee from a city where we had lived for seven months, ending up in a shelter in Deir al-Balah, sitting in a tent inside this shelter, with no amenities, with walls made only of our winter blankets.

<div>We do not know what we will do in the coming days, and when winter comes again, how will we face it? I hope we will still be considered human beings when that time comes, and that we will have enough funds to survive, leave this place, and live abroad in a house with walls, a bathroom, and available water and electricity, where my family will be protected from heat and rain.

Help My Family to Survive and Evacuate From Gaza

The War in Sudan has created the World’s largest Humanitarian crisis. According to the World Food Programme 19 million people are facing extreme levels of hunger and very little international humanitarian aid is reaching the country.<br /><br />In Response to this tragic situation in our native country, we have setup the Khartoum Aid Kitchen initiative to feed the hungry in the greater Khartoum area. <br /><br />Our first Kitchen in Al Hitana Omdurman has been a success. Alleviating hunger in the area by feeding 1,250 of the most needy people daily. The fortified stew we provide with bread is not only intended to provide sustenance but to also be nutritionally balanced. <br /><br />Since our kitchen in Al Hitana opened we have proceeded to rapidly setup new kitchens across the Khartoum State area. <p>Khalil Al-Kafarna is five years old. He was named after his uncle, the martyr who rose in the 2012 war. Khalil, my nephew. His left eye suffers from a problem with the retina and severe poor vision since birth. He needs a medical patch constantly to maintain the stability of the lens of his eye and prevent it from becoming lazy. Covering his good eye so that he can focus on his other eye, and he needs follow-up and constantly renewed medical glasses according to the improvement of his vision or, God forbid, due to the dissatisfaction of his condition. He also needs to travel abroad to have a lens implantation operation performed and save his eye so that he can continue his life and education with a healthy eye, God willing. Khalil lives in a modest tent and does not He cannot bear any of the necessities of life, and the intense July heat and strong sun prevent him from being able to open his eyes and play with the other children. I can also add that Khalil’s father used to work as a hairdresser and did not take the shaving tools out of his house. He now does not have any work to support his family, which consists of 4 members. Therefore, it is difficult for him to provide for Khalil’s special needs or to send him abroad for a treatment trip, knowing that our child is in a race against time to save his eye. After the shelling intensified, the army asked us to leave to the south immediately before attacking the schools and the entire area.
