Boozhoo. As some may know, on New Year's Eve day, my daughter Zaagi and I were struck by a driver blowing through a stop sign, narrowly and thankfully missing hitting right where Zaagi was seated in the car. The impact was traumatic, the passenger window smashing out as we careened across the road, me looking back at her helplessly as she screamed and cried, getting pushed into another vehicle. I am grateful we are okay physically, just a little bruised and jostled, it seems, but emotionally shaken. But this is also a stressful event in that my car is totaled, which brings me to GoFundMe. My situation is this: I am a solo, low-income parent, which is fine. I make do. But I just purchased me and my daughter's forever home two weeks ago. I also have put thousands of dollars into that car the past few months to make it last, which seems comically tragic now. But as a single parent, I try to prepare. We need a vehicle. She has school and I have work and I painstakingly cared for this vehicle to ensure we would have it for as long as we could. Just one week ago, I paid over $900 to have it fixed. Between all these car repairs and buying a house, I have little reserves to purchase a new vehicle. While the other driver admitted fault so I am due some sort of payment at some point, it will be minimal due to the high mileage and age of my vehicle (a 2011 with 164k miles). So that brings me here. Because I can try to prepare as best I can but life still happens, and I need help. I am seeking whatever help I can gratefully receive from you, dear reader. I want to get a safe, dependable vehicle for me and Zaagi, to get us to work and school and to go on our many adventures. I do my best to facilitate my daughter living her best life, and generally only ask for and accept help from a very few, to whom I am so thankful for, but this event is too hard to carry myself.
