<div>Jami Deva is facing a painful and complicated recovery after a family vacation in Florida turned into a medical emergency. While boogie boarding with his 9-year-old son, JJ, a freak wave tossed him and snapped his right tibia.

<div>This injury is especially complicated because more than 20 years ago, Jami suffered a serious accident that broke both his legs in multiple places. Because of that history, he needed surgery and new hardware after this recent fracture. He is now in extreme pain and must remain non-weight bearing for the next 2 to 3 months.

My name is Mariya Katrina, and I am reaching out for support during a difficult time. Since November 2025, I have been actively interviewing for clinical therapist positions, hoping to secure a role where I can help others and make a positive impact. <div><strong>WHAT(?!):</strong> For the past year, Lauren has felt a little off. For the past few months she has been getting full faster and feeling uncomfortable. Singing has felt painful at times. At the beginning of May, after experiencing more abdominal pain and going a week of barely being able to eat (and we all know how much joy food brings Lauren) she went to the doctor and a workup was started.
</div>

<div>On May 16th, Lauren presented to the emergency room because her pain had become intolerable. That is where scans showed that she had a giant tumor in her pelvis, stemming from her right ovary. When I say giant, I mean a beach ball sized mass that likely weighs over 15lbs. In true Lauren fashion, she immediately named the tumor Lenore and decided that a musical would be made to enact Lenore's journey. <div>In the ER there were lots of laughs, but there were also lots of tears. We didn't know exactly what this tumor was, or how scared we should be. Life got very real, very fast.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Answer's have continued to be hard to come by. Here is what we know so far based on scans and tests: ovarian masses are on a spectrum of benign -&gt; borderline -&gt; cancerous. Her scans show that Lenore is either borderline or cancerous, but we won't know which until her surgery. Lauren will wake up from surgery not knowing how many parts of hers were removed.
</div>

<div>During surgery they will take Lenore out and have a good look (send frozen sections to the pathology lab). We are hoping that the tumor is classified as borderline. If that is the case, then Lauren’s ovary and fallopian tube will be removed with the tumor. If it is cancerous then she will need a total hysterectomy and likely appendectomy, in addition to lymph node biopsy to see if there has been any spread.
</div>

<div>Symptoms have been challenging as Lauren is experiencing a lot of pain and discomfort requiring around the clock medication. She is on some serious pain meds, finding comfort and humor most of the time, but is unable to engage in regular life as she has to be able to lay down when the pain flairs up.

<div><strong>WHERE: </strong>She is currently mostly spending time at her new home in Sebastopol with her angel of a partner, Campbell. After her surgery, she will spend some time recovering at her parents’ house in Larkspur as well as Sebastopol. Much to Lauren’s dismay, Lenore will be kept by Kaiser in San Francisco. We will keep Lenore’s memory alive via a musical that is in the works, with the operatic powerhouse Alexander Kugler already cast as Lenore.

<div><strong>WHEN:</strong> June 25th is the scheduled surgery date. She is on the waitlist in case any openings come up sooner. Kaiser has had a major backlog with their operating rooms so there is a longer than usual wait. It is frustrating to wait, but Lauren is moving through this all with grace and humor.

Singing Resistance: Fueling a Movement

<div>Hi all I’m Tristan, mother of Kainoa. I am reaching out to request any financial assistance available to help us navigate these next few months while we do everything in our power to get Kainoa healthy and strong.

<div>Up until the last few weeks, Kai has been a healthy, strong 18 year old young man in his first year of college. Suddenly over the span of a week very concerning symptoms began to surface, including slurred speech, difficulty balance, numbness in legs, and double vision. We immediately brought him to the doctor, which then turned to being hospitalized immediately. The neurologist ran all the tests, fluids, MRI, Spinal tap.  We received the devastating news that there is quite a bit of demyelination in his brain, which is what Multiple Sclerosis does.  The MRI shows both scarring and new lesions. This means he’s likely had an MS flare up undetected  before now.  Immediate course of action to halt this flare up is underway, however we are now being set up with specialist at either Stanford or UCSF. The beginning of this journey we are now on, will be the most important part. We don’t know what we face moving forward.  The most important task is to heal the damage that has already occurred as fast as possible and control any more relapses.  There is still much unknown.  What we do know is, Kai will won’t be able to go back to school yet, we will have to cancel this semester .  He’s currently suffering debilitating motor function and chronic fatigue. He cannot walk well, nor drive. At this moment he does require supervision as he’s in a vulnerable state.

<div>Mathieu has been working out of town weekdays for the past year and will need to be able to mostly stay home until we are onto the next phase of Kai’s healing. Our life as a family of four, requires both of our incomes to literally just keep things afloat. As many of you know we lost everything in a wild fire in 2020 in the middle of a pandemic where we barely working. We don’t have a cushion to fall back on.   Thankfully medical insurance will cover his allopathic treatments, however it won’t cover us taking off work to tend to these appointments in the city, nor any of the many reputable natural remedies.  So we humbly ask you for any donations (no amount is too small) to help us get through this most difficult period so we can focus all our energies on Kainoa’s healing. Help SoulPlay Recover after a Devastating Theft

<div>Hello dear friends: 
</div>
<div>Sadly, I am writing you because I am at the end of my rope and I truly need help.
</div>
<div>As some of you know,  about four years and a half ago I had a very bad accident... To make it short, I fell 100 feet on pure granite while climbing down the highest mountain in Yosemite called  Cloud Rest, which is about 11,000 feet.  I will say with all my heart there were many miracles that not only I survived the fall but also I kept sliding down the mountain with a broken body and found a small spot with reception while there was no reception at all for many miles. I was able to call 911 with a broken phone and almost out of battery. I called for a helicopter because nobody would be able to find me on the side of the steep mountain I  was in. Thank god the helicopter found me an hour or so later, right when the sun was setting and I was about to pass out. Then the helicopter took me to Modesto's Hospital and iI was in the IR for about 9 days. 
</div>
<div>I had broken bones all over my back, lacerations all over my body, organs being misplaced and not wokring properly, sprains everywhere, and many concussions. Again, it was a miracle I made it alive from that fall. 
</div>
<div>       After the Hospital, I was in very bad shape and I knew the healing process will take years. Luckily, I had many good doctors and had some savings I was able to live off it for a year and a half while liv.  But after that, I had to get working,  even though, I was still recuperating from the fall and during those years I was still in much pain and seeing many doctors for my complex back pain I have. But I endured the pain and went on working anyways,. I had no other choice, and it was kind of doable for me. 
</div>
<div>I am a  gardener by trade and it's a very physical job but also I have been working indoors to help me pay my bills. 
</div>
<div>    About 4 months ago my shoulder was hurting me so much that I could not work anymore, indoors or outdoors or any work of any kind. I am having difficulties even doing simple things such as driving, holding anything with my arm, texting, writing or even keeping still. I am a leftie, and I do everything with that arm.  Even writing this is hurting me. The pain it's been brutal in my left shoulder, arm and neck adding in other places I have pain in my back all has been too much to deal with.  Yet, somehow when I move, walk, sing, dance or do some sort of moderate activity it gets me out of my pain a little bit, it lessens to a certain extent. I kind of got used to the pain after all these heavy accidents I had in my life, which I won't go into explaining now. But sitting still with the pain sometimes it's much harder than distracting myself and moving it, again, to a very certin extent. 
</div>
<div>      For the last few months, I have been going to all sorts of doctors to deal with this issue: pain doctors who gave me neck joint and muscle injections which didn't work but made the pain worse. Also, I saw  Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, therapists, etc; but again. nothing seemed to work. I have been doing anything it's possible to be able to work again because I have to and I have no family support because all my family lives in Argentina. 
</div>
<div>         After a few months of waiting for a shoulder MRI and the doctors finally saw that I got a  "Tear Slap" which is a shoulder tear, and it's not healable but only by surgery. My pain doctor seems to think this is the root of my pain and I started to see it may be true.
</div>
<div>Right away, I got a referral for the Orthopedic Surgeon and I have been calling over and over in the last weeks to make an appointment, but for one reason or another, ( my low-cost medical insurance, or the doctor its vacation, or I need more paperwork, etc)  they couldn't schedule me yet.  I am still waiting to have an appointment with the Orthopedic Surgeon, hopefully, he will call me this week and then we have to go into more tests, and then hopefully sometime in the next month or so surgery and the healing time of approximately 6 months to a year waiting for me. 
</div>
<div>        So, it has been about 4 months hoping i will get better but with no results. Quite the contrry, it feels worse with everyday it passes. All these four months between doctors and much pain and with no income coming at all.
</div>
<div>         Meanwhile, I used my credit cards to pay bills, I also asked for some loans from banks but the money run out. Also, I went to all  Government programs as well as nonprofits, for help, and I got food stamps and a housing voucher but yet, but I have not been to find any housing. I do have a housing voucher, which I acquired last year but it will expire in September I have been trying to find a house, relentlessly for almost a year but so far it's been in vain. My current landlord does not want to take the voucher, doesnt matter the incentives we give him to sign.  Also, to get a disability in my case will take many years if I get it. 
</div>
<div>       Approximately all my basic bills. rent,  electric, water, credit cards, car loan and insurance , etc. are about   2500$ a month. 
</div>
<div>     I need time and money to heal my body but above all, I need a house to rest and be able to provide the basics so I can heal. 
</div>

<p>Early Saturday morning, while traveling to work with Sacramento Metro Fire, Kyle Rutherford, 38,  suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. Kyle was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, firefighter, the list is absolutely endless. He was so much to so many people, but most especially to his dear sweet wife Sheena, he was her everything. Kyle leaves behind his wife Sheena and four young children Lillian (10), Leana (7) and  twin sons, James and Grady (2.5) <br /><br />Kyle was a dedicated engineer with the Sac Metro Fire Department. He has been with them since 2015 and loved every minute of it. Kyle was a car enthusiast, a fisherman, a jack of all trades. He was just so much and will be missed dearly.

<p><br />With all of the emotional pain and stress that a death brings, it also brings financial worries and uncertainties. With Kyle being the sole income for the family the worries and concerns become even more apparent. We are trying to raise money for Sheena and their children to help with any costs that will incur and to help wherever needed. For a mom with four young children the list of day to day expenses she will now face alone  is endless (groceries, mortgage, gas, insurance). <br /><br /><br />When I approached Sheena and asked her if she was okay with me setting this up she said I should do what God was calling me to do and that she has complete faith that God will provide for her. That is a perfect testament to how they live their lives and raise their children with immense amounts of faith even in their most difficult times. Now is our time to hear God’s whisper to help our neighbor however we can. It is in these times of loss and sadness when you see people coming together to help one another make it through the unimaginable.

Helping funds for Sheena (Kyle) Rutherford

Hi.  My name is Lorenzo Liberti.  Last year, I started making heroic flags as a way to support our forgotten heroes…our homeless veterans.  In eighth grade, I met one of these struggling vets while helping my church group serve at a nearby soup kitchen.  That encounter opened my heart and I began to search for ways to assist heroes like him. <br /><br />Today, the world has a new enemy, the Coronavirus and to defeat it we are relying on a new group of heroes, our frontline healthcare workers (first responders, nurses, emergency physicians and many more).  Their courageous efforts and strength are inspiring everyone across the world.  However, they are risking their lives (and some are even dying), to serve their communities during the COVID-19 crisis.  <br /><br />I would like to honor our new heroes by sending a Heroic Flag to the most impacted hospital in each state of the United States.  The flags could be displayed in hospital lobbies or cafeterias to serve as a reminder of how much their communities appreciate their sacrifices.<br /> <br />Additionally, I will donate the net proceeds to support our forgotten heroes (homeless vets), as their needs have not diminished during the pandemic.  I plan to support the Yellow Ribbon program at <a href="https://tpmanatee.org/veterans-assistance/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Turning Points</a>  in Bradenton, FL.<br /> <br />While my family and I have not been directly impacted by Covid-19, we are very aware of the risks, as my mom is a healthcare worker in the Sarasota Memorial Hospital network.<br /><br />It is time for us to 'do something'.  Please open your heart and join me in this mission by donating to the project. Thank you, and God Bless.<br /><br />About my flags:<br />Each flag is made up of 13 planks of premium pine wood.  Each plank is hand carved, torched and stained by yours truly. Once dry, the pieces are assembled and glued together. Heroic Flags for Frontline Healthcare Workers

Our dear friend and colleague Catherine Estrada has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. A group of us got together and wanted to help.  The funds will be sent directly to Cathy and her family to offset the tremendous costs and burdens associated with this terrible illness.She is currently being treated by 6 doctors, plus one of the treatments she receives once a month retails at $16,000 for each injection! (She's had 3 injections so far). <br />Cathy and her husband Henry have dedicated their lives to serving the community and giving thousands of children the gift of music through lifelong education. <br />Today, we would like to give back to them. On June 18th the Supreme Court blocked the Trump Administration’s 2017 decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA.<br /><br />The Supreme Court preserved DACA today but we do not know what the Administration’s next steps will be. <br /><br /><strong>This is Urgent.</strong><br /><br />We must take action to protect as many Dreamers and their families as possible. When Dreamers are able to renew their applications, they are likely protected for another two years.<br /><br />Two more years at home with their families. Two more years of security. <br /><br />DACA has allowed 750,000 young people to attend college, embark on careers, purchase homes, raise families, and live without the fear of deportation. <br /><br />When President Obama enacted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in June 2012, he stated, “These Dreamers are Americans in their hearts, in their minds, in every single way but one: on paper.” <br /><br />The clock is ticking. Dreamers make our collective future brighter for their being part of it. <div>The Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians asks for your financial support to fund a lawsuit and to support legislation to protect Sacred Sites and the forest currently being commercially logged in Jackson Demonstration State Forest (JDSF), which is located in the Tribe’s Pomo Homelands.

<div>To date, the Tribe and the Coalition to Save Jackson have been working for two years to stop the commercial logging and associated road building and herbicide operations in JDSF.  The efforts have been largely successful due to Direct Action in the woods; the negotiations entered into by the Tribe with the State of California and the countless actions of citizens and groups like rallies, protests, petitions, and letter writing.

<div>These actions have held off almost all logging operations for two years on five Timber Harvest Plans, forced Calfire to authorize no new Timber Harvest plans in 2022, forced a revision of the forest management plan several years early, and begun Tribal Equal Co-Management negotiations for JDSF with the State of California that will impact Equal Co-Management around the entire state.  This is a huge accomplishment as JDSF is nearly 50,000 acres and is the largest State Forest in California!

<div>However, Calfire recently went back on their promise to the Tribe to pause logging operations while the Equal Co-Management negotiations are underway.  This signals a new phase of the campaign, and we need your support to initiate a lawsuit right away.  
</div>

<div>This lawsuit will be targeting Calfire’s desecration of Pomo and Coast Yuki Sacred Sites and cultural resources in JDSF, where Calfire has build roads and used herbicides on sacred plants for many decades, even going against their own internal Betts report study which declared more than a decade ago that logging operations must cease until a comprehensive archaeological study is completed.

<div>This lawsuit will challenge Calfire’s current practices as they violate the AB 52 amendments to the California Environmental Quality Act. The law states that Tribes have rights to due process and Cultural Sites and resources must be protected from harms by State activities.  Also, in 2020 Governor Newsom issued a little-publicized directive to state agencies to pursue co-management with Tribes, and the Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians is poised in this campaign to actualize that state policy for all Tribe statewide.

<div>With your support, a team of Federal Indian lawyers will be hired by the Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians to enforce Tribal Sovereignty rights and protect Sacred Sites, culturally valuable species, and force the state to complete negotiations for Equal Co-Management of JDSF with the Tribe.
