 My name is Ciera, and I am asking for help for myself and my younger sister.

 For years, my sister and I have been trying to survive after losing the two people who were supposed to protect us.
</div>
<div>
 When I was 16 years old, my mother passed away. Losing her changed our lives forever. I was still a child, and I never had the chance to fully understand what it meant to lose my mother. As the years passed, I was left with only memories of her.
</div>
<div>
 My father raised my sister and me alone after that. He was the only family we truly knew. We did not grow up with a large support system or relatives we could turn to when life became difficult.
</div>
<div>
 Then, when I was 17, we lost our father too. He died in a car accident.
</div>
<div>
 Suddenly, my younger sister and I were alone.
</div>
<div>
 We had lost both of our parents before we were old enough to understand how to live without them. After our father's burial, we stayed in the home where we had been living, hoping that somehow life would become stable again. But eventually, we were told to leave.
</div>
<div>
 We had nowhere to go.
</div>
<div>
 My sister and I ended up sleeping on the streets of Kampala. We were hungry, frightened, and exposed to dangers we should never have had to face. I was older than sister, so I felt that I had to become her protection, even though I was struggling myself.
</div>
<div>
 There were days when I did not know where our next meal would come from.
</div>
<div>
 I did whatever I could to keep food in my sister's hands. I made choices I never wanted to make because survival had become more important than anything else. During that period of my life, I contracted HIV.
</div>
<div>
 I don't share this part of my story for sympathy. I share it because it is part of what happened to me and because I want people to understand how far we have had to go simply to survive.
</div>
<div>
 Eventually, a friend heard about our situation and told us about refugee camps where we might have a chance to find safety. He helped us with the journey, and my sister and I traveled to Kenya.
</div>
<div>
 We arrived at Kakuma Refugee Camp on October 26, 2025.
</div>
<div>
 We believed that reaching a refugee camp would finally mean that we could sleep safely, eat regularly, and begin rebuilding our lives.
</div>
<div>
 But instead, we spent months without a proper place to sleep. We were outside, hungry, and trying to survive one day at a time.
</div>
<div>
 We later came to Gorom Refugee Camp in South Sudan, hoping that things would finally become better.
</div>
<div>
 But once again, we are struggling.
</div>
<div>
 Today, my sister and I are still facing a lack of food, clean drinking water, and safe shelter. We are trying to survive in conditions that have become extremely difficult.
</div>
<div>
 I am also struggling to access the medical and humanitarian assistance I need because we are not registered in Gorom. At the moment, new registrations are not being accepted, leaving us without the support we desperately need.
</div>
<div>
 Sometimes I look at my sister and wonder how two children who have already lost so much are supposed to keep going.
</div>
<div>
 But she still has a dream.
</div>

 She wants to go back to school.
</div>
<div>
 She wants to become a doctor.
</div>
<div>
 That dream is one of the reasons I continue to fight.
</div>
<div>
 After everything we have been through, I don't want her childhood to disappear completely. I want her to have the chance to sit in a classroom again, learn, make friends, and build the future she talks about.

 And I want us both to reach a place where we can finally feel safe.
</div>

The ceasefire brought silence, but not peace. Their home is in ruins, their savings are gone, and every day is a struggle for survival.

This family includes children, parents, and grandparents—three generations trapped in a cycle of destruction they did not choose. They are now living in temporary shelter, trying to find stability in a place whose future remains uncertain. Food is scarce, clean water is rare, and medical care is nearly impossible.

Many family members suffer from serious health complications from injuries and have gone months without proper treatment. Every day brings new challenges: finding medicine, clean clothes, safe food, and a glimmer of hope.

Urgent help needed to flee from a genocide in

 On July 23, 2026, our dad, Anderson Infante, was detained by ICE during a traffic stop in Pompano Beach, Florida. During the stop, two officers asked him for proof of residency or U.S. citizenship. Dad repeatedly asked why he was being detained, struggling to understand what was happening, but they still did not give him a reason. The agents took his wallet to look for identification and instructed him to step out of the car and have someone pick up his keys. Confused and unable to understand everything being said, he was removed from the vehicle by force and against his will.

 Our dad came to the United States eight years ago and has always been a hard-working, law-abiding citizen, but more importantly a loving husband, and devoted father of 3 daughters, and the provider and head of our household. Everything he has done has been to provide a better life for our family. He has always put us first, and now we are trying to do everything we can to be there for him.

 He is currently in ICE custody at the Miramar processing facility but we have very little information about where they plan top move him next. His wrongful arrest has left our family shocked, heartbroken, and uncertain about what to do next but we know time is of the essence.

As LGBT people, we are not only outsiders in the refugee community but also rejected by the very systems that are supposed to protect us.  Our living conditions are dire.  Many days, we go to bed hungry.  There is never enough to eat, and our bodies grow weaker each day.  Clean drinking water is scarce, and we are often forced to drink unsafe water that makes us sick.  When illness spreads in the camp, we have no access to proper medicine or healthcare.  Even treatable conditions can become life-threatening.  The rainy season is here, and our shelters are falling apart. The ground floods, leaving us cold, wet, and vulnerable.

<div>On top of this, we endure constant stigma.  Being LGBT in this environment makes us targets for abuse and harassment.  It often feels like the world has forgotten us.

<div>On Friday, 1/9, hundreds protesters gathered outside of the federal building in Santa Ana, CA to protest the ICE killing of Renee Good.

<div><strong>K, a young protester, was shot in the eye at point-blank range by a federal agent.</strong> It is unclear what he was shot with. He was then denied medical care by the Feds and dragged into the federal building.

We are an entirely student-run organization on campus, hoping to reach out to our family, friends, and other supporters of the arts to help raise money for Volume ll in our album series.

<div>Equipment, recording, mixing and producing takes a lot of funding, and our goal is to try and raise as much as we can to make this album the best it can be! We attempted to raise the money for this album previously in 2019, but the unexpected events of the COVID-19 pandemic set us back a few years. Luckily, we are back now and more ready than ever to share the accumulation of our hard work throughout the year with our listeners! Our goal is to raise the money before the end of Spring Quarter, and we accept and greatly appreciate any and all donations!

Naked Voices Album 2022!

On Monday, February 10, 2020, Joe Barratt was walking home from the library when he was struck by a hit and run driver. Though he received medical treatment at John Muir's Trauma Center for the next three days, his injuries were ultimately determined to be non-recoverable. On February 13, Joe was removed from life support. Recently, he had visited the DMV to get an ID, during which time he learned about organ donation, and  signed up to be a donor. It is only fitting that someone with a heart as big as Joe's would save the lives of several others during his last moments on earth.<br /><br />To know Joe was to love Joe. His sweet nature touched every single person who came into contact with him, and his beautiful smile left an impression on every person who was lucky enough to see it. As a founding member of the “star gang,” Joe lived his life as part of an incredibly close-knit group of friends who have hearts as big as his. He attended Concord High School, during which time he made a lasting impression on many of his peers and teachers, all of whom are feeling the loss of his warm presence on campus. Music played an important role in his life, and his passion for making his own is remembered fondly by his friends and family. He shared a close relationship with his parents and extended family, who love him beyond measure. <br /><br />Although nothing can possibly reduce the devastation that Joe's family is experiencing, it is hoped that this fund will help to reduce some of the financial strain that a tragedy like this inevitably creates. All contributions can make a difference, and they are deeply appreciated.
