Cancer Update October 19: Medical appointment today with a specialist for sleep solutions as Chemo was rough on my teeth and lung specialist noticed I had some breathing problems while sleeping. Sleep doc figured out no air is passing through on left side and my upper teeth need to be replaced with implants called an All of 4. Also throat constriction is tight. So now I get to go see a dental specialist and an ENT specialist to get more done. I have a PET scan next week with blood work and if all tests look good by November 13, I may be officially in remission. I am still finding that most mornings I am fatigued and feeling ill but by afternoon I am feeling better. Everyday I am finding more and more energy. With more energy, I am starting to get back into photography as of this week. Looking forward to going to youth football games in Mesquite this Saturday! I just want to thank everyone for all of their support, help and prayers. I may be battling insurance and fighting financially but you all have helped me so much! So thank you! Cancer Update October 14: After a quick escape to celebrate my negative PET scan results at the Utah FanX, I have been resting and healing. The trip wore me out good but it was so needed mentally to get out of the house and keep me sane. It wore me out but was worth it! I have been doing good for a day or two and then fatigued and down for another day or two. It’s back and forth depending on the day. On good side, I have no signs of cancer and just have to do one more PET scan and some tests and keeping fingers crossed I may be in remission soon. Then I can get back to working and start rebuilding finances and finish paying off bills. I am starting to have more energy and doing writing and photography again. Little by little. I just want to thank everyone for all of your support and help. If you want to help out, visit my GoFundMe campaign, send via Venmo, or contact me. Thanks! Cancer update September 30: Been crazy busy for last week since I last posted. I received results back from biopsies and they were negative! I celebrated with my daughter, sisters and family by going to Utah FanX thanks to a friend who paid for just about whole trip. It was what I needed especially mentally. To be able to get out of house and valley was great! Saw old friends too! I met celebrities like Keith David and Jess Harnell. Saw others on panels like the Boys panel, Animaniacs panel, the Office panel and more! It was great! I am still weak and fatigued due to the chemotherapy after effects. I have to do a PET scan and bloodwork but I may be in remission soon! I am excited! I just want to thank everyone for their support and help! Love you all! Still gotta pay medical bills but hopefully be done with them soon! Cancer update: September 18 After going in for the bronchoscopy and biopsies last Friday I have been extremely fatigued and weak with irritated congested throat. I have not been feeling well so resting a lot (12-18 hours of sleep a day). This is why I have not been on social media lately! I have not gotten results back yet but should soon to know if cancer spread to chest or not. I have been battling insurance lately as they have denied my prescription for Ozempic for diabetes last month. This has been multiple appeals from my Dr’s office. They claim their medical specialist says it’s not required for my diabetes condition. Since I been off Ozempic, my blood sugar level has been extremely inconsistent even with a gluten free diet and healthier eating. I absolutely abhor insurance but know it is essential! I am feeling a bit better today so I am doing an update to keep all of my social circles, friends, and family updated! They rescheduled my ultrasound and mammogram until a day before my birthday so they have time to go over results and other scans. So still waiting on that to get done. Still working on healing and getting by financially. If wanting to help by donating, send by Venmo or GoFundMe campaign. Cancer update September 2: Since finding out that I have affected and metabolized lymph nodes, I have had severe fatigue, chest pain with breathing issues. This has not helped with my anxiety and I definitely have been sleeping more than usual. My body is trying to heal itself from what ever it is fighting. I get biopsies done on September 11 so I am praying that it is not cancer but either an infection or inflammation instead. I have to say that I am definitely getting restless and bored as I am ready mentally to be back working and doing active stuff, but physically my body isn’t ready. I am staying as positive as I can and trying to work out still when I have the energy to do such. Positivity is fully enlivening! Huge rave to Danielle Holliday!!! She is the most beautiful and amazing person who has the biggest heart ever! She has been a huge support and rave to her business Pirates Landing for having gluten free pizza which I can have right now! I am planning that if I get cleared September 11 and September 17 for the biopsies and mammogram/ultrasound, the I will go celebrate doing something I love! A comic con, a college football game, a concert, a theme park or something similar. I definitely need to start saving and hopefully get less medical bills. Thanks everyone for your help and support, especially prayers! Cancer update Aug 29: After not getting cleared to be in remission, I went yesterday to the lung specialist about the enlarged and metabolized lymph nodes. He is very worried about how they look in the PET scans, so I am going in and getting knocked out on September 11 for biopsies. They are going to check and see if they are cancerous. I have also had problems with my blood sugar levels and extreme fatigue lately to which he thinks is linked to whatever my body is fighting whether it is an infection, inflammation, or cancer. It has been very frustrating lately as I was so ready to be done and get back to a working life but I feel like it has come back around to a full circle. I am still putting my faith in God and know in the end, it will be okay. I am keeping positive and moving forward. I am still working out with very light weights and starting to walk on a regular basis. It is crazy how much the cancer drained my strength. I will get it back. Anyways, I am still not back to work so if anyone would like to help out, you can donate by- GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/28eb5915e Venmo: @Nick-Yoshi-Yama Thanks everyone for your continued prayers and support! Cancer update August 25: After not getting cleared by my oncologist, I did get a little ill and been working on my blood sugar level and keeping it on healthy levels. I have discovered my levels skyrocket every night at 9:30-10:30 pm even though I don’t eat or drink anything. It has skyrocketed up over 300 and as high as 376 at those times. It makes me very fatigued every morning. I am pretty sure whatever is causing my metabolized lymph nodes in my chest, is causing my crazy high levels in my blood sugar levels. I started getting neuropathy in my fingers and my toes so I thought maybe it was a pinched nerve and went to chiropractor. Dr. Staley said some of it could be but not all fingers. However, I did need an adjustment and it helped. He also found some of my lymph nodes that were extremely tender. He said I definitely had something going on. I am set up for mid-September for a mammogram and ultrasound for this situation. I have been busy packing up my stuff at my parents’ home where I have been staying while doing chemotherapy and moving back to my own apartment in Moapa. While doing this I found an old binder from my college days with a ton of my short stories, novellas and poetry in it! It has been great reading through it and has lit a fire to get back into my writing. I will probably share my poetry via social media soon. I want to thank everyone for continued support and prayers and love. Please keep sending that positive energy and support! Cancer update August 21: Well the oncologist appointment didn’t go as planned! Not in remission yet! The latest PET scan found several hypermetabolic porta hepatis lymph nodes in my chest. This means they are bigger and more active than they should be. They are absorbing a higher level tracer glucose which means 1 of 3 things. 1) an infection, 2) active inflammation, or 3) cancer! I am now getting a consultation with a chest/lung specialist and a mammogram and ultrasound over next two weeks. It may results in biopsies on the lymph nodes. My extreme fatigue and hard time controlling my glucose levels seem to make more sense now! Please keep praying that the issue is an infection or inflammation instead of cancer. Keeping my fingers crossed! So evidently my cancer journey is not over yet and I am praying the cancer did not spread to my chest. I was at first stressed and down when I heard this news but I am uplifted to know it is neither good news or bad news yet. So keep positive and positive things will happen! I do feel okay but very tired and weak at times. I am allowed to do some light work so I am looking at continuing writing for the local paper and working on getting a new job doing online work lined up. Please keep me in your prayers and as always thanks for your love and support!
