<div>And now the unthinkable has happened. <strong>I had a hemorrhagic stroke on 5/29/25 that has left me unable to move on my own.</strong> It’s going to take a lot of time, effort, and rehab for me to get back to living, let alone writing.

<div>It’s just me and my mom. I don’t really have any other family other than her and my best friend— who lives over 2 hours away from me.

<div>I've never been one to ask for help easily, but this is a huge undertaking both in spirit as well as financially.

<div>The stroke has left me unable to use my left side, but I’m working on it! With every fiber in my being, I’m working on it! But it will require in patient rehabilitation as well as a long road of physical and occupational therapy to get me back on my feet again.

<div>Which means I can’t write at the moment—leaving all the work on my writing partner, Taryn.

<div>I’m asking for help to get me back on my feet—quite literally. I do have insurance, but there is quite a lot of out of pocket expense for this new normal that I am facing. Anything you can spare is greatly appreciated.

<div>Hi. First and foremost, thank you for reading my post. This is hard and something I've been dealing with my entire adult life. I have a 5cm fibroid sitting right smack in the middle of my uterus. I've always had heavy periods that were accompanied with extremely painful cramps and fatigue because I was bleeding and clotting so much. I've been bleeding, clotting and in pain for the past three weeks and working with my OB through solutions. All the non surgical options are temporary so the best option for me to gain quality of life is to get a hysterectomy.

<div>I have an okay insurance but have already been told I have to cover almost $2,500 out of pocket and I know it's only the beginning because I have to stay over night at the hospital and don't know yet the cost of anesthesia. Oh wait, crap, we’re supposed to be serious in these things, aren’t we? Well shit… So that we can all digest this together… My dad went to get a preventive colonoscopy a couple of weeks ago and what they found was, frankly, some shitty news.

<div>Thom does have stage 2 colon cancer. Thankfully, he is scheduled for surgery on July 12th, and we have a great shot and halting any further spread. About 5-7” will need to be removed.

<div>He currently has insurance coverage and has met their max for the year. However, the PET scan (ordered by a doctor) he was scheduled to do is not being approved by the insurance company because it is “not medically necessary,” which is, of course, never what we want to hear. The level of care and information going into the surgery should not have to suffer because our health care system is a mess.

<div>There isn't really a whole lot new in my battle with colon cancer, except that surgery is scheduled for Tuesday July 12.
</div>

<div>I have gone through more testing and I'm having yet another on Saturday, a PET scan. It's a more detailed look to see if there's any indication of spread. It was ordered by my oncologist who I saw last Friday.
</div>

<div>The surgery will be to remove the affected portion of my colon, approximately 5-7 inches. After removal there will be a biopsy to check for spread to the lymph nodes. As of now, there is optimism from my doctors that has not occurred.
</div>

<div>I'll be in the hospital for 2 or 3 days after surgery, and then home on bed rest for awhile. During this period, my phone will always be on silent. If you want to leave a message, that's fine, of course. If you want to visit, all visitation must be cleared through my wife, Jessica Roberts. There will never be more than one person allowed to visit the hospital at any one time due to covid protocols, so please, don't be that person who tries to surprise me. To visit, you must also bring proof of vaccination.
</div>

<div>If you are tempted to send flowers, I would urge you to instead donate to Planned Parenthood, or some other organization that supports a woman's right to choose, in my name. It will mean more to me and do more good. #prochoice #plannedparenthood

<div>For those of you that know me and have been around me, I've been not at my best and have been excessively tired for the past year or so. Today we found out a big part of the reason.
</div>

<div>Last Monday I had a colonoscopy. The doctor told me immediately that he was nearly positive I had colon cancer. He scheduled me for a CAT Scan last Friday. The biopsy taken during the colonoscopy confirmed I do, in fact, have colon cancer.
</div>

<div>The good news is that the CAT Scan revealed that there appears to be zero spreading of the cancer to anywhere else, nor any sign of unusual growth or size of any lymph nodes. The surgeon is classifying it as stage 2.
</div>

<div>I'll be seeing an oncologist on Friday this week and fully expect the have surgery to remove the cancerous section of my colon very, very soon (my hope is before July 4th). There will be significant recovery time after that. I don't know yet whether there will be any chemo or radiation yet.
</div>

<div>So, what do I need? Your well wishes are most welcome. If you have a higher power, do as you see fit. If you're inclined to check in on my wonderful wife, please do. She's strong as hell, but we all need support.
</div>

<div>My daughter gave me some fantastic advice today and I fully intend to follow it. It goes along the lines of I'm going to be selfish and embrace only those things and people that are supportive in the way that I need it. I will 100% ignore anything that and anyone that does not contribute to my recovery.
</div>

<div>Bottom line on everything, this could be far worse. Unless there is something the doctors have missed to this point, I have a good chance of coming through this ok. It shouldn't surprise any who knows me that I intend to approach this logically, practically, and very straightforward. All I ask is that if you are offering support, please be sincere cuz I'll probably take you up on it. I know I'm blessed with wonderful friends and family, both biological and chosen. I will lean on you and not apologize for it. Thank you in askance for your well wishes and support.

<font color="#333333">Hi friends and family - this is a very hard and uncomfortable thing to post, but here goes!<br /><br />Our little baby Taz has had a toe mass for a while- around 6 months. I’ve asked every vet about it, and have always been told it’s no problem. Unfortunately, now it’s a problem; he’s uncomfortable, bleeding every day, and is in pain. We are having to go into emergency surgery next week to remove the whole toe, as they are unsure if this is cancerous or not, but either way, it’s gotta go. <br /><br />They’ve estimated this to be around 4,000, which we don’t really have laying around for Monday morning. <font color="#333333">Over the weekend, the Weber family lost their beautiful baby boy, Bradley Matthew Weber. Bradley’s untimely passing is a devastating loss, and we want to show our support in any way we can. <br /><br />We’re asking for donations to present to the family in Bradley’s honor and memory. It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we now have to say goodbye to our dear friend, partner, and father, Ricky Evans who left us so suddenly on March 12th, 2021 at the age of 41. We are all heartbroken by this sudden loss and struggle to make sense of it. His final expenses and arrangements, which need to be paid for as soon as possible, now have to be managed by his long time partner and companion, Zhenya, who is left in a new apartment they had rented less than a month ago which she will now also have to vacate. <br /><br />I am now reaching out to try to help Zhenya through this difficult time and help her navigate this situation.<br /><br />We are left with beautiful memories of our time with Ricky. Of his his kindness, caring, humor, and love. His love of literature, movies, great food, and friendship. How patiently he explained the rules of complicated board games, how he always took care of the people he loved, and how he was always there for us. He is going to be missed and will always have a place in our hears.  <br /><br />Ricky was hospitalized early last week with elevated sugar and sodium levels, dehydration, and extreme fatigue. Over the week he was making good recovery progress and was being prepared to be discharged to a rehabilitation center for a short physical therapy stay. On the 12th of March he was scheduled to undergo a routine CAT scan to make sure his lungs were clear. During the procedure he coded and could not be revived. <br /><br />Due to the suddenness of Ricky's passing we are left with unresolved finances and questions of how this could have happened. We are asking for help with the final expenses, to give Zhenya and Ricky's family some breathing room and help them get answers about what what went wrong so quickly and irreversibly. Every little bit helps. <br /><br />Please take care of each other and yourselves. <br /><br />We love you Ricky, forever in our hearts.

This fire also took the lives of two of their beloved pets..Princess and Charlie. Their other two fur babies, Bear-bear and Julia have been hospitalized and need some significant medical care.  Please find it in your heart to help them rebuild their house and bring their dear pets home. <strong>We all love Dottie!</strong> Who among us hasn't purchased an awesome shirt, hat or other personalized items from her company, <a href="http://www.needleplaydesigns.com">NeedlePlay Designs</a> ? Unfortunately, she is having the worst month of her life and needs our help. <br /><br />You can see all the specifics of this below, but the bottom line is. <strong>Both of the embroidery machines she uses for her business broke in the space of 3 days.</strong>  One is completely unrepairable and the other needed a LOT of work.<br /><br /><strong>The Good News:</strong> A new internet reality show <a href="http://www.tippingangels.com">TippingAngels.com</a> , came in and fixed her main machine in time for her big show in March, got her a repair contract for next year and will start off this fundraiser with $200.<br /><br /><strong>The Bad News:</strong> Her other machine is toast and she cannot support herself with one machine. She needs to replace her older model ASAP.<br /><br /><strong>Dottie hates taking money from people</strong>, she's a proud lady who works her ass off. <br /><br />We say this is different. She defines the words "scene business".  <strong>She charges us about 40% less</strong> then she charges her regular customers. <strong>She doesn't charge to digitize your work??</strong> She gives so much away or discounts so heavily for so many events it's silly... <strong>basically, she has been underwriting the cost of custom shirts in our world for the last 10+ years! <br /><br />So, your donation will go 100% to buying her another used machine so she can continue to work her ass off and support her family. </strong>(If anything is left over it will be used to help other parts of her business... she can really use it!)<strong> Even if you don't want to help Dottie, help yourself</strong> and give some money so you still have a custom embroidery company in the scene ;)<br /><br /><strong>If you can't donate right now, you can still help a lot by sharing this on social media!</strong><br /><br /><strong>Dottie's Situation:</strong><br />Her daughter had surgery on her ankle &amp; there were complications. So Dottie insisted she move home so she could take care of her. She is still having a lot of problems and can't work.<br /><br />Her son and his girlfriend just had their second child 4 months ago and they live with her as well.  So the house has been in crazy newborn mode. He works his butt off 7 days a week along with his girlfriend but that means Dottie is the caretaker of her 2 grandchildren every day. <br /><br />And that’s while she maintains her own embroidery business in between the baby bottles and diapers.<br /><br />So, there are 4 adults, a 4-year-old,  a 4-month-old, 2 dogs and 2 cats all living in a tiny house in Pennsylvania. Living paycheck to paycheck<br /><br /><strong>And THEN in the last few weeks</strong><br /><br />Her 4 yo Granddaughter  had a very challenging oral surgery procedure, so that cost a fortune and I’m sure was terrifying for all<br /><br />Then their vehicle that they all share had an accident <br /><br />There was a terrible storm and they lost power for 3 days and during that time, they had no HEAT in the middle of winter. (Dottie was seen shoveling the snow of her elderly neighbors and of course her own.)<br /><br />And just when things couldn't get more stressful, both her embroidery machines broke putting her completely out of business!<br /><br /><strong>Oh, and they got the van fixed, with borrowed money </strong>aaaaaand<strong> it broke down again a week later... now she needs a new van. This month needs to end.</strong>
