Help bring Mark Leventhal home to rest with his family
My longtime partner of 16 years and our beloved friend, Mark Leventhal, lost his valiant battle with cancer on March 4, 2026. Time is of the essence, and I am asking for your help now as I am trying to work a miracle so that I can honor his wish to bury his body together with his brothers and family in Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY.
Mark was a real mensch. He was a Retinal Blastoma survivor, but he didn’t let that define him. He was the most silly, kind, loving, and the absolute most generous man anyone would ever meet. Some would say he was generous to a fault. Those who knew Mark and heard his stories knew of his love for his brothers, Eric and Jay (of blessed memory). However, he wanted to show “whoever was in charge of this planet” that he would survive all odds despite the challenges he had to overcome.
Mark couldn’t think about dying. He couldn’t bear to even discuss any final plans for his life because, to him, that was admitting defeat. As a result of his end-of-life decisions, Mark’s estate does not have any funds to return his body home. Because of this, I am reaching out to all whose lives he touched to ask for your help now so that we can collect enough money to make Mark’s dying wish happen for our dear friend.
Please help me make this happen for Mark. Please share this with any and every person or organization that Mark was affiliated with in any capacity. This is a big ask, and a lofty goal. But between SAS, Jamaica High School and UAlbany, Kutz, NFTY, LIFTY, Disney, and his personal connections, I am confident that, together, we can make this happen for Mark who touched so many of us in very special ways.
We must act quickly so that I can facilitate Mark’s body to be laid to rest with dignity. Thank you in advance for your generosity and donations. May Mark’s blessed memory live on in our hearts.
With sincere appreciation,
Erica Cantarella Miller
