<div>Our sweetest boy Doobie means everything to us. He is not “just a dog,” he is our family, our comfort, our little soul companion, our everything. He is the one who curls up on us when we’re sad, wags his tail the second we wake up, and fills our home with softness, laughter, and love and kisses.

<div>On Tuesday, October 28th, Doobie suddenly lost the ability to use his back legs. We rushed him to the emergency hospital, terrified, and learned he is suffering from a serious spinal injury (IVDD). Without treatment, there’s a possibility of him never being able to walk again. Hearing those words shattered us.

<div>Doobie is the heartbeat in the home. He is our emotional support, our cuddle buddy, our therapy dog (he’s sat in nearly 5,000 hours of therapy with his mom), our best friend in the truest sense. He has been there for us through grief, illness, anxiety, and every moment life has thrown our way. Now he needs us and we will do everything in our power to help him.

<div>The recommended treatment and surgery to give him the best chance at walking again is extremely expensive (estimated $13,000+), and while we never imagined creating a fundraiser, we also can’t imagine not trying absolutely everything for him. The 5k is for the remainder of the bill that his insurance won’t cover and his PT for rehabilitation.

Help Bring Queer Romeo and Juliet to Life

<div>Yesterday, our King, was diagnosed with an aggressive tumor called Canine
</div>
<div>Hemangiosarcoma. It’s located near his spleen and we have opted to undergo a potentially life saving, yet expensive, surgery. They will remove his spleen and send in a biopsy to figure out the level of aggression of the tumor. We are hoping he makes it through this surgery and is able to live the last few years in his happy place in Colorado, chasing wild hare and digging holes.

<div>The outcome is variable, he may not make it through the night or he may make it 3-6 months or years beyond. All the money donated will be used to pay for the surgery and make him as comfortable as possible.

Gender dysphoria is a complex and emotional journey where one's sense of self conflicts with their assigned gender at birth. It can be an overwhelming struggle, causing immense stress and anxiety. For those undergoing gender affirmation surgery, it's a courageous step towards becoming their true selves. The transformation is not just physical but also profoundly psychological, leading to greater self-acceptance and happiness.

<div>For as long as I can remember, I’ve struggled with connecting to my body in support of my gender identity. Until more recently, I chose to take on this internal discomfort privately; grappling with feeling self-conscious due to my larger chest size. As a teen, playing sports presented physical challenges that later crept up into my adulthood.  In an effort to live authentically as my true self, making the decision to get gender affirming surgery has generated a great amount of relief and validation. Finally seeing it come to fruition has made me experience a mix of emotions including excitement, nervousness, but mostly - fulfillment and joy. Ultimately, this surgery will provide alignment to my physical presentation with my gender identity.  It has been difficult for me to share something so personal and private, and I appreciate you all for taking the time to read more about my journey.  Any financial support you’re able to offer will provide a great sense of security while moving into this next stage of becoming my authentic self.

Support Ric's Gender Affirmation Surgery

Hello friends!<br /><br />Keila was riding her scooter when she was hit by a car who ran a stop sign. <strong>Her ankle was pinned between the car and her scooter and fractured in three places which is why she had to have surgery.</strong> The driver was uninsured and has not offered any sort of assistance. She's been unable to walk for over a month and at this point in her recovery she's still not sure when she'll be able to.<br /><br />Her job requires full mobility as she's a server and she has lost all ability to create income for herself.
