I'm reaching out to you on behalf of my forever friend <strong>Ron Everett Jr.</strong> As many of you are aware, he has been going through health issues for many years. They first started when he was in his twenties, with cancer. He is currently in the hospital and has had two heart operations this past week. Because of his diagnosis of Ankylosing Spondylitis, they were not able to do the required heart bypass surgery. He is still in need of that surgery, but his heart has to get stronger before they can do a procedure like that.

<div>Currently, Ron has no stable income as he awaits his social security claim. He's having trouble breathing because of the spondylitis. His diaphragm is failing, breathing is difficult. This keeps his oxygen level very low. It's difficult for him to walk around and he cannot do anything physically. He has lost consciousness and forgets where he's at or how he got there. He is very much in need of assistance, and we all cherish his wisdom and his knowledge.

<div><strong>I believe he has a lot more to do and I'm asking if you can, please find it in your hearts to support him with any amount that you are comfortable with.</strong> It will go toward his ongoing medical needs, utility bills he has fallen behind on, food, and daily necessities while he is in need. He will likely need to find someone to care for him a couple of days a week when he returns home. <strong>I pray that you can find it in your heart to help him in his time of need.</strong>

<div>It is I, DORA….the household’s most magnificent and usual agile feline, who addresses you today. I come not for catnip (though that’s also a necessity), but with a grave and urgent matter concerning my structural integrity.

<div>You see in the pursuit athletic excellence (specifically, an ill-advised leap to catch a dust bunny that looked suspiciously like a large moth). I have sustained a critical injury. My veterinarian, a very serious man who uses words like “cranial, cruciate ligament rupture”and”orthopedic  consultation,” informs me that I have not one but two torn ACLS in both my back legs. Although this is very rare in cats well you gotta know me,I go BIG or GO home.

<div>My owners have already scheduled me to have my right ACL surgery first because it was the most severe one. My owners were able to cover the cost of that one on their own. Now I have to wait four weeks for my next surgery on my left ACL.

<div>This is not a mere,furball situation,dear friends. This is a crisis of mobility! My “Zoomies” have been reduced to a pathetic “limp-around-the-kitchen,” and I cannot properly knead biscuits, which is frankly a tragedy for everyone involved.

<div>The solution, I am told, is a sophisticated surgical procedure. The cost for this high-level, bionic–cat upgrade is, regrettably, a some far beyond my current allowance of kibble and couch privileges. We are looking at a figure somewhere in the neighborhood of $3000 possibly a little more with physical therapy.

<div>Without the surgery, the Vet (Dr. Serious-Pants) says I will develop severe arthritis and chronic pain and potentially have to be euthanized. I assure you a life without the ability to jump onto the highest shelf to judge you is no life at all.

<div>“For those who don’t already know: On Thursday afternoon 12/9, my oldest son found Sequoia on the floor, incoherent and unresponsive. Sequoia was rushed to the ER and put into ICU.  After a battery of tests, it was determined that he had had a stroke. Not a TIA... a full blown, large scale event. His injuries are not life threatening at this time. The next few weeks will give us a little better indication of how life altering the stroke will be. At this time he is still in ICU, being as ornery and demanding as ever.  I feel blessed to have him still with me, because on Thursday, I thought he wouldn’t make it.  I am also blessed that I am allowed to be with him all day, every day.  And if you know me at all, you know full well I’m not leaving his side.

<div>I’m imaging if you know (and love) him, you’re as in shock as I was with the news. He’s only 44 and as strong as an ox. Doctors say he formed blood clots after fighting covid and they went to his brain and caused a blockage that led to the stroke. So here we are. A few days have passed and he is making baby steps of progress each day. I am seeing sightings of the Warrior I know and love all the time.  I am already so proud of the fight he has in him and his determination to recover.

<div>What we need most is prayers. Prayers for strength, recovery, and healing. A lot about our future is uncertain at this time but one thing I do know without a doubt is that God has blessed us with the most amazing, loving and supportive family, church, friends and co-workers anyone could ever dream of having.

<div>God is good, ALL the time. Even in the deepest valleys, I will praise Him.  He is my rock and my fortress. I couldn’t face these challenges without Him and the blessings He has and continues to bestow on us.
