I am an elderly woman living in Tallahassee, Florida, and for over 40 years, my home has been the heart of my family. Recently, my house was severely damaged, making it unlivable. Now, I find myself homeless, moving from hotel to hotel, struggling to afford even the basics. On top of this, I am caring for my two young grandkids, one of whom is autistic, and facing the challenge of breast cancer at 76 years old. The stress and uncertainty have been overwhelming, but I am doing everything I can to keep my family safe and together. The city of Tallahassee has forced us to leave our home until repairs are completed, but as a retired and disabled grandparent, I simply do not have the funds to cover the restoration. The money raised will go directly toward repairing the roof and restoring our living quarters, so we can return to the place we love and call home. Taking care of my grandkids has taken its toll, and every day is a struggle to provide stability and comfort for them. I am reaching out for help from anyone who is in a position to support us.
