<div>Just days before Christmas, Derrick Hausen and his wife Jessa French were walking in their neighborhood when a drunk driver ran a red light and struck Derrick at a high rate of speed. As Derrick lay critically injured and unconscious in the road, the driver fled the scene.

<div>Derrick was hit with such extreme force that he was left with multiple life-threatening injuries including traumatic brain injury, severe internal bleeding and fractures of the hip and pelvis. For weeks his life hung in the balance in the ICU. It is truly a miracle that Derrick survived.

<div>For anyone who doesn’t personally know them, all I can say is that to be their friend is a blessing. They are both selfless, creative, and hard-working people who cherish each other while caring for their friends, their family, and their community. Together, they write stories that move us, especially while making us laugh. For more than 20 years they have worked to make life better for those around them. There are countless stories of their generous acts... from donating their time to help fellow artists succeed, to Derrick’s 12 years of service in the sober community.

He needs continued rehabilitation and medical care, possibly for years. When he can go home, he will require 24-hour supervised care and Jessa will be by his side.

This has been a devastating time. It has been impossible to sit back and helplessly watch as our communities were being looted and destroyed. Literally up in flames and burnt to the ground. Grocery stores, malls, farms, food/supply distribution centers - gone. Warehouses emptied and burned to the ground.  Communities all across Kwa-Zulu Natal have united together first to protect and fight for their communities. The people of our rainbow nation (people of all backgrounds, race, and religions) have come together,  and are standing together, shoulder to shoulder. They need our support. And we want to support. Why? Because the government continues to fail its people. They did not step in and allowed the rampage to escalate to unimaginable proportions. The damage has been done and the communities are cleaning up + rebuilding TOGETHER. They need our support.

<p><strong>All funds raised will be donated accordingly to Litter4Tokens and SA Harvest to assist with all logistics including but not limited to purchasing, air + ground transportation, warehousing, security and distribution. Currently, we are working with food distribution centers in Cape Town + Johannesburg, assisting with air transportation to Durban. Also working with food supplies in Durban to help support their businesses. My 40th's  HIV meds  fundraiser 

On October 13th 2016, our hearts were extremely broken, as an amazing man, husband, father, son, uncle, cousin, dentist and friend, Bao Vinh, lost his battle with cancer. A journey that he had bravely endured for over a year and a half. Three weeks ago at Keck Hospital of USC, Bao went into surgery to remove his second brain tumor that aggressively grew again. Unfortunately during surgery, he suffered from a brain aneurysm. Although doctors were able to repair the aneurysm and remove his brain tumor, the battle was far from over. Still in the hospital and heavily sedated for weeks, Bao suffered a stroke and that was when we knew his prognosis was very poor. He passed shortly thereafter. His courage, determination and perseverance to beat this sickness was beyond admirable. He was a true Trojan!<br /><br />For those who knew Bao, knew that he had an ability to touch our hearts in so many comforting ways. He was compassionate, generous, selfless and a huge jokester. A protector and role model, truly one of a kind. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. He will remain forever in our hearts and his legacy will live on through his 2 beautiful daughters, Stella and Ruby, and wife Sarena.<br /><br />Bao cherished academics a great deal and knew the importance of a quality education. He was extremely intelligent, graduating from USC Dental School. We would like to set up this fund in honor of Bao, in hopes of providing a college fund for his two young daughters. We want him to rest assure in heaven, knowing that they will be able to attend any university they desire in the future.    <br /><br /> Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Stella and Ruby Vinh's college fund

Starting in early September our funny, smart, sweet cat Fife started experiencing issues with urinating. He has suffered many vet visits, poking and prodding, tests, and we exhausted all natural and holistic options to treat his condition of feline lower urinary tract disease. His diet was changed, we gave fluids, ETC. but still Fife has been blocked three times now. It's a life threatening scenario, and each visit has broken our hearts and emptied our wallets. Being that we don't have children yet, and are such animal lovers, Fife is truly our baby and the three of us are very close. At the advice of a few different vets and trusted friends with experience with this, we have decided to get a surgery for Fife to widen his urethra and prevent further blockages, (which can result in a ruptured bladder.) This has not been an easy time or decision for us, but we feel confident we are doing the right thing to save Fife's life and maintain quality going forward. He is less than 2 years old, and we could not possibly justify putting Fife to sleep at such a young age and because it would devastate us. We've also considered that this surgery is rather "routine" in males, and while still quite serious to undergo, he has a very bright future and is expected to make a full recovery. The risks are minimal. Considering the costs Chelsea has incurred this year for Lyme disease (which insurance covers none of), and the money Randall has spent on travel and time off work for the death of two close family members, our savings accounts are pretty wiped out and we are just overwhelmed by this huge financial hit for Fife's life, and humbled to admit we could really use some help. A lot of this is going on credit cards, and we have faith everything will work out, but we know sometimes we all need 'a little help from our friends'. If all you can offer right now is prayers, love, and encouraging words, that is quite enough, and we have been uplifted and inspired by all our loved ones, and even people we don't know very well offering sentiments of support. If you do have anything to spare and contribute to Fife's medical bills, and feel called to do so, we would be eternally grateful. One day we will be in a position to be helping others again, and hopefully saving animals of all kinds too, as those are endeavors we are passionate about, and we are both philanthropic at heart. Both of us have struggled significantly at times in our lives, but have always figured out a way to make it work. We are survivors, and so is Fife, and we will certainly pay your generosity forward in due time. We know not everyone is in a position to donate, so please let us reiterate that we know all our friends and family care so much regardless of contribution to this, and every little bit of love- whether in the form of positive energy, or a small donation of funds, will be met with the utmost gratitude, and will help in the healing of our tired, wounded souls right now, too.
