What they care about

I care about community and I care about GAP and I care about CrossingBorders and I care about you. Happy art making.

GLOBAL ART PROJECT founding members Carl Heyward and Akiko Suzuki submitted a GAP application to participate in the 2028 Setouchi Japan Triennale on one of the art islands . They created what we think is a strong submission drawing from the CrossingBorders: We Are All Immigrants exhibits at Westbeth NYC, Nine Eighteen Nine Studio Gallery Charlotte, NC and Grace Cathedral SF from 2024-2026. The impetus of the Setouchi callout is to bring attention to the aging of these islands and their potential revitalization through art and culture focusing on the inherent value of the people and resources -- immigration /. migration is at least a two way exchange of coming and going of gain and loss. Additionally I hope to have updates on the Borders: dia de los muertos Mexico City project soon.
From NJ, having spent a couple of nights in PA, and tomorrow back to Charlotte. I wanted to send an update and a hopefully newsworthy update. Today is the third day of October. My sister would have turned 66 yesterday. We had a good time celebrating her birthday. As for GAP, I wanted to tell you that Carl and Akiko have been going in on the Mexico City CrossingBorders Ex. I believe they are traveling there now and just might make some headway. Thank you to all who donated after my previous update. It will really make a difference. What would we do without Global Art Project and the FRAG Exchange Experience. Life would be so uncertain. And the CrossingBorders Exhibit. Please donate what you can. I know I’ve asked many times before, but this is different. No it’s not, not really. But seriously folks, a guy walks into a bar ….. nevermind….. It helps me think. I will have more good news next time. Stay tuned.
Hello Everyone, I have been out of pocket lately due to a loss in the Frank family. But, I wanted to update you on what’s happening with CrossingBorders and ask for your continued support. Carl Heyward is activating the Mexican Artist contingency to try and pull together a GAP CrossingBorders exhibition there. It looks good and is hopefully getting some traction and gaining speed. The show will be about the final border we all cross without being too morbid. More to come on this as things develop. As always we thank you for your donations and support. We know that as summer ends you are all getting very busy. Hopefully, those of you who are artists are creating many things. Shipping costs to Mexico City will be interesting. Any help you can give us would be most appreciated. Thank you! Mikel
