The devastating Eaton Fires took a significant toll on the entire Altadena community, including this beloved hardware store. Altadena Hardware has been serving the Altadena community and beyond for <strong>nearly 100 years</strong> and since 2010 has been lovingly run by the Orlandini's, continuing a five decades long family tradition in the hardware business.

<div>Jimmy and Rob both grew up on Mendocino Lane, establishing their own families in the neighborhood and dedicating their lives to serving this community. Their parents, Jim and Paula have also been active members of the Altadena community for over 40 years and still live on Mendocino Lane (thankfully their home still stands). Jimmy and his wife Alison, along with their three kids—James (9), Emily (6), and Zoey (4)—and Rob and Kelli, also with their three kids—Dylan (2), Sofia (6), and Camden (8)—call Altadena their home. While their houses somehow survived, most of their friends' and neighbors' homes, along with neighboring businesses, are all gone.

<div>Altadena Hardware has provided more than just hardware supplies; they’ve offered a place where the Altadena community can transform their houses into homes and neighbors become friends. If you know Jimmy and Rob, you know that they greet their customers by name and have been a family resource for over 15 years in this neighborhood. As the Altadena community seeks to rebuild, my Orlandini family hopes to rebuild the store so they can support the city in recovering from this unfathomable loss.

<div>15-year-old sister (Lizbeth) were involved in a terrible head-on collision caused by a suicidal wrong-way driver. Both of them have suffered severe injuries and face a long road to recovery.

Support for my family after tragic accident on 134 freeway

<div>Our good friend John Horan is dealing with a medical emergency and needs your help. To give you some background:

<div>After consistent headaches and not feeling well, John’s friends took him to the ER late the night of December 10th. After being admitted and getting a CT scan, John was transferred to the neurological ICU.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On the CT scan they found that he had a cyst pressing on the 3rd ventricle of the right frontal lobe in his brain, causing the excess fluid to build up. On December 12th, they successfully performed the mini craniotomy and removed the cyst.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>John is now awake and each day he has been improving. But there is a still a long road to recovery ahead of him. John fortunately has insurance, but we don’t know yet what will be covered from his extended stay at the hospital. He will likely be out of work for a good amount of time. His family has been (and will be) traveling back and forth across the country and staying for an extended period of time to be with him and support him. He will need physical therapy to get back to full strength.

Monterey Park Lunar New Year Victims Fund

<div>Jamal Patterson, a beloved husband and young father, was shot and killed in Northwest Pasadena on October 25, 2021. Jamal was the provider for his family, and now his wife Kyra is struggling to make ends meet for herself and their two young children with Autism. She and the children are not only devastated by the loss of Jamal, but Kyra is also worried about how to pay their bills. No grieving family should also be worried about whether they can pay for food and rent. Let's show Kyra and the children that their neighbors care for them and want to help them get through this difficult time.

It is a space formed to empower and uplift the youth. <br /><br />Northwest Pasadena lacks the programs, tools and resources for youth and young adults to prosper and have a fighting chance in life. The youth deserve a better foundation for success. They deserve to know who they are and where they come from.<br /><br />Summertime is here, and the youth of Northwest Pasadena will be out of school, thus meaning they will be at the park with no summer programs. This leaves them as targets for the Pasadena police department to harass. The school to prison pipeline is a booming business in AMERIKKKA, predominantly affecting Black youth . WE BLACK LIVES MATTER PASADENA  would like to center summer 2021 on the #BLMDenaYouth in Northwest Pasadena. <br /><br />We want to create an environment which the youth can experience what it is like to actually have some SUMMERTIME FUN, and also build an environment where they can learn to give back to their community and take control of their own futures. We are asking the community to come together and give the youth in Northwest Pasadena the chance to have a fun, interactive summer.  We want to take away the financial burden from families by providing resources and field trips for the youth free of charge. <br /><br />The youth have asked Freedom School to return this summer. This fundraiser is run by Black Lives Matter Pasadena and all funds will go to making Freedom School possible this summer 2021.  The funding will support seven weeks of youth programming, Monday-Saturday and will include weekly field trips chosen by the youth to a group of 25 kids. Black Lives Matter Pasadena Freedom School 2021

All the money raised will be directly raised for the purpose of Andres Guardados Funeral Expenses and Family. <br />Andres was murdered by a Sheriff Deputy June 18th approximately at 6pm or earlier. He was shot approximately 3 in the back and was apparently shot 2-4 more times while down. This kid was a hard working individual. He was respectful, has two jobs, went to school and was working to pay his car off and help his family move out the neighborhood. I hate asking for help, but <strong>my sweet Henry is very sick -and I need help</strong>.  Last week he stopped eating or drinking and after bloodwork and ultrasounds it was revealed that he has hepatic lipidosis, which is where a cat's liver develops fatty deposits/starts to shut down because they stop eating. Here is where it gets complicated: <strong>his hepatic lipidosis is being caused by pancreatitis AND intestinal disease (which may or may not be lymphoma).</strong><br /><br />I have opted out of doing a biopsy to find out if it is lymphoma because the treatment is the same regardless.<br /><br />They have put in a feeding tube and they want me to keep him in the hospital for a few days, which is way too much money for me to afford. When I do take him home I will need to continue feeding him/treating him with antibiotics and steroids through his feeding tube. I will also need to take him to the vet every few days to have his bloodwork/follow up ultrasounds done. This could go on indefinitely or it could eventually resolve itself.<br /><br />There is no way to know if this will work, it depends on if we can stabalize his liver. <strong>But theoretically once we get him stable he could continue to live a happy (albeit complicated) life. </strong><br /><br />So, <strong>I am fundraising to see if I can cover a) an extra day in the hospital and b) to help us through potentially months of follow up visits.</strong> I don't want to give up on this sweet baby who brings me and so many other people joy.  Anything that you can spare would go a long way in helping us through this dire situation.<br /><br />Thank you, we love you, and are so grateful for your support.

I'm Sadie Leigh, an artist and yoga teacher born and raised in the DC/Metropolitan Area. Over the past three years, I've had the immense joy of diving deeper into the study of yoga. Since completing a 200 hour training program at Flow Yoga Center, I've continued to learn and grow by way of attending classes with my wonderful teachers, reading and discussing yogic texts, learning so much from my students, and perhaps most importantly, by trying to live my life with as much love and compassion as possible.<br /><br />And now, I feel called to deepen my learning even more. The Dharma Yoga 500 hour Life of a Yogi training "is an opportunity for certified teachers to take an in-depth look at the entire sacred science of yoga through the lens of Yogi Sri Dharma Mittra’s experience with his Guru and his almost half century of practice and teaching." I hope to learn from Sri Dharma, and the other incredible teachers at the Dharma Yoga Center, and be able to return to DC (and who knows where else!) with that much more knowledge, understanding, and compassion, in order to offer yoga classes to better serve my students, my friends, my wonderful community.<br /><br />I'm raising funds to supplement the cost of the application fee, tuition, required books &amp; supplies, and travel costs for the portion of the training that takes place in New York.<br /><br />Anything you're willing and able to give will be immensely appreciated.
