<div>We are thrilled to announce the one year anniversary of ArleneAnn House, a transformative initiative dedicated to providing transitional housing for families and women in Oakland. This initiative, founded by Tracey Nails Bell, CEO of A Diamond In the Ruff and Tracey Williams, CEO of urban university, aims to address critical housing needs while providing a community of support.

<div><strong>Why ArleneAnn House Matters:</strong>
</div>

<div>In a city where lower-income households continue to struggle to find affordable housing, ArleneAnn House stands as a beacon of hope. According to the 2024 Alameda County Point-in-Time (PIT) reports, Oakland accounts for more than half, or roughly 58%, of Alameda County's homeless population, despite the city making up only about a quarter of the county's total residents. African-Americans represented 43% to 47% of Alameda County's homeless population in counts from 2022 and 2024, a significant overrepresentation compared to their roughly 11% share of the general county population. ArleneAnn House provides an opportunity for everyone to lend a hand to <span>an</span> end homelessness on the behalf of vulnerable women and families.

<div>ArleneAnn House offers below-market housing in two residential facilities, providing 14 beds and essential amenities in Oakland’s San Antonio neighborhood. This initiative provides an affordable and safe place to live and delivers a comprehensive support system to help single mothers and women transition from short-term housing to long-term stability.

<div>Two-Year Transitional Housing: Women and mothers  have the opportunity to live in our supportive environment for up to two years;

<div>Comprehensive Support: Services include workforce development, educational opportunities and wellness workshops tailored to the needs of low-income working single mothers and women; Community Engagement: peer support groups, and resource referrals will empower residents to build resilience as they increase their social and economic mobility.

<div>We, Team Orla, want to introduce you to someone very special - our dear friend, Orla Kristensen. Originally from Denmark, he’s known by his friends as “The Great Dane”. That moniker befits him not only because of his large stature, but also for his larger than life personality. Orla lights up a room with his smile.
</div>

<div>He’s an incredibly gifted stone mason that has crafted magnificent artistic creations for his clients throughout the Bay Area for decades. He cherishes and supports his family and friends and they all know that generosity is a prominent Orla trait and never seeks anything in return.  But now he needs our support due to his severe health issue. 
</div>

<div>Orla has recently faced an incredibly debilitating and challenging health crisis. He has had to undergo six surgeries over the last several weeks. This unexpected medical crisis has left Orla with an enormous emotional, physical and financial challenge that he never could have foreseen. His bills are mounting. His road to recovery will be long and uncertain. The doctors are talking about another 4-6 weeks of hospitalization and then he will be transferred to a rehab facility.  Needless to say, it is estimated that he won't be able to work for months and will have no source of income to cover his day to day expenses including rent, food, utilities, etc.

<div>That's where TEAM ORLA comes in. We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to help Orla get back on his feet. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will go a long way in relieving the financial stress Orla is currently facing. Your donations will mean so much to him and his family. Providing your assistance to lift Orla during this critical time is an opportunity for each one of us to return the kindness that Orla so freely gave to many of us.
