<div>As most of you know I married the wonderful Paul Hope (Peter Bear) in July. Those of you who know Paul will know he had a stroke in 2021 which has left him with significant mobility and fatigue problems. When i met Paul he never expected he would be able to visit his beloved lake district and go to festivals again.
</div>
<div>we bought a campervan and spend lots of time away but especially love going to festivals together.
</div>
<div>It is especially uncomfortable, exhausting and painful for Paul negotiating various terrains on a small mobility scooter.
</div>
<div>We recently met someone at solfest who was using this amazing multi terrain power chair. Anyone who knows Paul will know of his love of the outdoors and nature. If Paul could have one of these power chairs it would further enable him to travel and enjoy a better quality of life.
</div>
<div>The chair itself is £1045 plus delivery costs
</div>
<div>and a second battery for £199 would give him so much more freedom.
</div>

<div>Hello! My name is Nicky and I'm a friend of the wonderful River Jordan.

<div>Many of you will recognise River who describes himself as "an anomaly wrapped up in a conundrum!" This Sunshine Daydreaming utterly devoted Deadhead and beautiful hippie soul loves to share his playful and gorgeous ways wherever he goes!
</div>

<div>It's been over 5 years since River lost his leg above the knee. Since then, he's been using an NHS prosthetic to stay mobile, and while he's trying to live life to the fullest, the NHS leg has some major drawbacks.
</div>
<div>It's incredibly heavy, weighing around 9lbs, which puts a lot of strain on his hips and back and makes it extremely painful and difficult to walk.
</div>

<div>But here's the fab news! There are modern, lightweight prosthetics that could truly change River's life. With a new prosthetic, he'll have more mobility, less pain, and greater ease in his daily life. He could dance even more wildly, explore freely and really live life to the max!
</div>

<div>Modern prosthetics can weigh as little as 3lbs, and with advancements like microprocessor-controlled knees, they offer comfort, flexibilty, and better functionality.
</div>

<div>After 5 years River is so ready for this upgrade, and after some research, we found the perfect solution : the Shree Vinayak Prosthetic &amp; Orthotics Clinic in Varanasi, India. This clinic specialises in Endolite prosthetics, one of the leading brands in high tech, lightweight prosthetics. The clinic is part of a global network, and while it is based in India, the components come from top manufacturers in the UK, US and Germany.

<div>Here's where we need your help: the cost of an advanced prosthetic like this in India is around £8,000. In the UK similar prosthetics can cost up to £30,000. This is an incredible opportunity for River to get the leg he needs at a fraction of the price.

<div>The clinic's consultation, design, customisation, fitting, and adjustments can take up to 3 weeks.
</div>
<div>Accommodation in India is affordable, and River would be able to take this time to not only get fitted with his dream new leg but also to reconnect with the deeply spiritual place of Varanasi ~ a place that has such a special meaning to him. He visited last year without his leg and "One Foot in the Ganges" (see pic below) would be an amazing chapter title for a book about this wild adventure!

A Funky New Leg for River!!

<div>My name is Cath Darling and I'm trying to raise £6,000 to support the planting and display of our ‘Tree of Hope’ Sycamore Gap sapling (provided by the National Trust) and enable continued delivery of my nature-based bereavement support provision in North Tyneside.

<div>As an Occupational Therapist I have over 20 years experience of working in NHS healthcare services. For the last 10 of those I have worked with loss, end of life, and bereavement support. I am additionally specifically trained to deliver bereavement support to children. I now provide a therapeutic service outdoors, directly in connection with nature, combining my passion for nature and herbalism with my knowledge and experience of clinically and therapeutically supporting others.
</div>

<div><strong>Sycamore Gap sapling - Tree of Hope</strong>
</div>
<div>In late 2024 my ‘Garden for Grief’ adult bereavement project was awarded one of the 49 ‘Trees of Hope’ saplings from the National Trust, propagated from the iconic Sycamore Gap tree after it was illegally felled in 2023.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A steering group, made up of ‘Garden for Grief’ project participants, has been working alongside North Tyneside Council to establish a fitting public site in the coastal area to plant the sapling once it is sufficiently mature, hopefully in late 2025. This site will serve as a symbol of life after loss.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Custodianship of this unique tree comes with financial implications, and whilst we are grateful for the donation of a wooden bench from North Tyneside Council, our steering group requires additional funds to facilitate the following:
</div>
<ul>
<li>An information board for the site of the sapling which will provide a background to the Sycamore Gap tree and an outline of the Trees of Hope campaign.
</li>
<li>Development of an oral history archive in collaboration with <a href="https://www.rememberingthepast.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Remembering the Past</a> which will capture the stories of those involved.
</li>
<li>A family celebration and planting event at the chosen site in autumn 2025.
</li>
</ul>

<div><strong>Sustaining a bereavement service </strong>
</div>
<div>Additional monies will be allocated to the provision of further nature-based bereavement support delivery for adults and children - enabling access to this service at no cost to participants.
</div>

<div>Over the past year I have engaged with around 25-30 adults and children, delivering over 200 hours of support to those experiencing loss after the death of a family member or loved one. Thanks to support from The National Lottery Community Fund and <a href="https://www.thewildsidenortheast.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Wildside</a> forest school, sessions have been free of charge to access.
</div>

<div>It is essential that some bereavement support can be provided at no cost to individuals. Access to healthcare support should not be limited to those who can afford to pay for it, and certainly statistically children living in lower socioeconomic communities are significantly more likely to experience the death of a sibling or parent - yet are also significantly less likely to be able to access specialist support. Financial status should not be a barrier to essential mental health and emotional support.

<div>Meeting the target of £6,000 will ensure a fitting acknowledgment of the Sycamore Gap legacy for North Tyneside. In addition it will enable the continuation of services to meet the bereavement needs of adults and children across the North East at little or no cost to individuals themselves, for the duration of 2026.

<div>Sky loved art and nature. Perhaps at some point you were touched by one of her poems or paintings. Perhaps you swam in the sea with her. Perhaps you took part in one of her workshops. Perhaps you marched for freedom with her. We'll all remember her as the unique and vibrant woman that she was.

<div>Hi we need a bit of help if possible . Ferank was an inpatient at a neuro rehab facilty in the north east after suffering two life changing strokes and although he is unable to stand unaided he loved using a motomed machine which made his legs strong and kept the circulation flowing . Fast forward a few years ... we have exhausted every avenue  available to get ferank use of a motomed machine via n.h.s ( you need to be an inpatient or suffer m.s ) and we were advised to use a gym .unfortunately ferank isnt well enough to use a gym but too well to use .n.h.s. facilites so heres where you guys can help . We are looking to either purchase a second hand moto med machine or rent one ..it is really important and this year ferank want  to start his walking journey after not recieving  any physio during lockdown so basically its me and him .
