I lost my home and business in one day, and I'm running out of funds. Despite applying for hundreds of jobs, I keep hearing I'm 'overqualified' or don't speak a second language. The struggle is real, and I'm basically a week away from going belly up, destroying my credit, and not being able to pay any bills. This could also mean losing all my belongings in storage. I don't know where to turn, so I'm asking for any help or donations from whoever may want to help.

 The funds will cover storage fees, bills, temporary housing, and food until I can get back on my feet. Your support will give me the breathing room I need to keep my belongings safe and stay afloat while I continue searching for work. If I ruin my credit, it would become very difficult to rent a new place, if not impossible at my age. Help Me Recover After Losing Home & Business

<div>My name is Christy and I am writing this on behalf of my sister Alice. Together, we have weathered many storms. We didn’t grow up in safety. We were raised in an abusive home, surrounded by violence and instability, and the harsh realities of poverty long before we were old enough to understand them. We spent years in foster care being moved from home to home, never knowing where we belonged or who would take care of us. As teenagers and young adults we experienced homelessness, addiction, and trauma that could’ve easily destroyed us. Instead, we fought side-by-side to get clean, to rebuild and to reclaim our lives . Through it all we have always just had each other. And now my sister is facing one of the hardest moments of her life and its going to require more support than I can give her.

<div>After weeks of testing and imaging, her doctors have recommended the removal of one – and most likely – both of her breasts. This is not just a surgery, this is a profound and physical and emotional loss. It will take her out of work for a long time and rebuilding her career afterward may take years.

<div>She lives in LA with a high deductible insurance plan and has already been required to pay upfront for all of the testing and special visits so far. Every donation contributed will help with medical bills that are not covered by her insurance and keep her rent paid while she is laid up in recovery and unable to work after the surgery. The financial pressure is immediate and heavy.

<div>Alice has spent her whole life contributing to art, music and culture. She has appeared in numerous music videos, small films, creative projects and photography. Her image has been used to advertise products and to help other people’s creative careers take off, but despite all of this visibility, she was often doing the work without compensation, out of the kindness of her heart, for the love of creativity,  a little exposure, and getting to be a part of something bigger than herself. She has given her time, her creativity, her image, her body and her talent to countless projects that brought attention and in some cases profit to other people. And now I am calling on that community who sees her as an inspiration and as their muse to let her know how much she means to you and to let her know that she is held by this community and that she is cared for and that we have her back. Over the years, my sister and I have buried more friends than we can count. We stood at funerals where people poured out love, memories, and kindness. All after the person was gone. And it always made me realize how important it is to show up for people while they’re still here, while they still need support, while the kindness can actually reach them. Your support will go toward helping her stay grounded, housed, and safe during this life altering time.

<div>Emotionally, this has been one of the hardest experiences I have ever gone through. Ginger has been sick for about two months, and there have been moments where I truly thought I was going to lose her. I have cried more than I can explain — the kind of cries that come from deep in your soul. Ginger is my best friend, the yin to my yang, and I would do anything for her.

<div>During this time, I had to rush Ginger to Oradell Emergency Hospital twice because she was struggling to breathe. I also had to rush her to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital because she was again having trouble breathing. All three times, I was not sure she would even survive the car ride. Each time, she needed oxygen right away. Watching her fight to breathe and feeling helpless while trying to get her help has been absolutely terrifying.

<div>For weeks, we were treating her as if she had a respiratory infection, but she was not improving the way we hoped. Ginger was not responding well to the medication, and she almost didn’t make it multiple times. I refused to give up on her. I kept bringing her back for emergency care, follow-ups, testing, medication, and anything the doctors recommended because I needed to give her every possible chance.

<div>Recently, someone on Facebook mentioned the possibility of mold exposure. At first, I did not know if that could be the issue, but I started putting the pieces together. The paint on the wall looked shriveled, as if there was water damage underneath. I also realized that I had been struggling to breathe despite using my asthma inhaler, and my other three birds seemed low energy and very weak. That is when I became extremely concerned that something in the apartment was making all of us sick.

<div>I asked maintenance to open the wall and check for mold. When they opened it, mold was found. As soon as I saw it, I called the hospital right away. Ginger’s treatment plan was changed to include antifungal medication, and after that change, she finally started showing signs of improvement. She was hospitalized at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital for 5 days, and although she is doing better, she is still recovering and will need continued medical care, medications, and follow-up appointments.

<div>This entire process has become extremely expensive. There have been multiple emergency visits to Oradell, visits to her primary vet, hospitalization at Red Bank, medications, oxygen, testing, and ongoing follow-up care. I have been trying to handle everything on my own, but financially it has become very difficult.

<div>Ginger is a special needs black-capped conure. She was born with foot deformities and but she has the biggest personality. She dances, cuddles, plays, and has brought joy to thousands of people online through her videos. So many people love her and have been praying for her. I have been begging God to keep her with me.

<div>I am raising funds to help cover Ginger’s emergency veterinary bills, hospitalization, medications, oxygen treatment, diagnostics, and follow-up appointments as she continues to recover. I have refused to give up on Ginger, and I will continue doing everything I can to help her recover. Any donation means more than I can put into words.
