Frank Ozuna, our co-worker, has experienced a tragedy that no family should ever have to endure. Within just two weeks, Frank lost both of his brothers—one to an industrial accident and the other to medical complications. The shock and grief have left Frank and his family struggling to cope with the emotional and practical challenges that come with such sudden loss.

<div>On Saturday, August 7th @ 0545 hours, retired LASD Narcotics Detective Richard Maier and his wife Nancy were involved in a motorcycle accident on I15, just north of Las Vegas. Richie and Nancy were transferred to University Medical Center in Las Vegas and were admitted into the ICU.

<div>Richie had a brain bleed, which has since stopped. His other injuries include a broken jaw, which he had surgery for on Wednesday 8/10. In addition, he has a fractured back which will not require surgery at this time. He also has two broken hands and multiple broken fingers, requiring surgery. Richie's intubation tube has been removed. He is breathing on his own and is alert and responsive.

<div>She also had bleeding on the brain when she was admitted, which has since stopped. Nancy was moved from the ICU to a regular room on Wednesday after having hip surgery. Nancy has already had surgery one leg and ankle. She is alert and in good spirits.

<div>Richie and Nancy have an extremely long road ahead for recovery and rehabilitation. However, the news has been positive, which is a blessing.
</div>

<div>Their children, Richie Jr., (a deputy sheriff at IRC), Chris, Jessica and Joey, are by their side, along with additional family, friends and former partners.
</div>

<div>Richie was in LASD Academy Class 252 and graduated in May of 1989. Lynwood Station, Century Station and Narcotics Bureau were among his department assignments.

Chris miraculously qualified for a unique surgery called the “whipple” in which they were able to successfully remove the tumor located in his pancreas. This surgery is one of the most difficult surgeries to perform and recover from. The surgery went very well and they removed the tumor and Chris is progressively recovering. Chris now is scheduled for 6 months of rigorous chemotherapy to attack and remove all cancerous cells from his body. Chris is unable to work through this incredibly rigorous fight for his life. Chris is a personal business owner and relies on his income to provide for his family and support his medical needs. <div>Hana Aljoulani lost her husband suddenly on 1/26/22. Her 5 year old daughter and husband contracted COVID and appeared to have both recovered well at home. He was taken to the hospital and died in the days that followed from what appears to be a blood clot that necessitated open heart surgery. His organs started to fail and he passed away without his wife or daughter being able to visit him.

Joseph Awaida succumbed to the injuries sustained following being hit by a 20 year old driver driving under the influence. 3-year-old son Omar and beautiful wife Raihan Dakhil suffered severe life threatening injuries and remain hospitalized. Please keep them in your prayers..."<br /><br />Joseph and his family are Muslim, and according to custom, burials are usually conducted within 24 hours of passing. If you feel compelled, please consider donating to this campaign. For Joseph, Raihan, and their baby boy Omar

This is Sydney and she has been struggling to make a good life for herself and two daughters, two cats and her big dog.   While away at the regional gymnastics meet this past weekend her apartment caught fire and she came home to literally nothing.  No clothes, no toys, no books - all gone!     I'd like to raise the money for her to be able to rebuild and start over for her sweet family.

Single mother of two loses everything in fire

Seven children are dead following a devastating fire early Tuesday morning that swept through the home of a family living in Spryfield, the deadliest house fire in recent Nova Scotia history.<br />Mother is thankfully  safe but the husband is facing life threatening injuries. They have lost all their children. <br /><br />We need to support them in facing their calamity and help them finding a new shelter and pay for expected expenses.<br />It's hard to estimate how much they'll need to restart their lives, but we urge haligonians and the people of Nova Scotia to do their best. <a href="https://atlantic.ctvnews.ca/our-entire-municipality-is-heartbroken-seven-children-die-in-halifax-house-fire-1.4302809">Halifax House Fire</a><br /><br />This campaign is organized and monitored by family friends including Imam Council of Halifax and in cooperation with the Hants East Assisting Refugees Team (HEART), the organization sponsored the family to come to Canada.<br /><br />Please be advised that these funds have nothing to do with burial or any other costs.
