Coming Together for Nellie’s Healing Journey

<div>For nearly 4 years Leah has been experiencing painful and frightening symptoms, and has been misdiagnosed with IBS, and this unresolved illness has worsened. This pain continues to dramatically impact her quality of life today.

<div>After Leah's Facebook post on January 25th, a group of her friends urged her to find and secure the treatment that she deserves. NO ONE, especially not Leah, should have to settle for mediocre care after all that she's been through - not just battling cancer TWICE, but the last four years of excrutiating pain.

<div>Funds collected here will go directly to Leah in helping her pay (out-of-pocket) for a foremost surgeon and expert in endometriosis that Leah's insurance plan is denying coverage of. Only a handful of surgeons in the country have the specialization in the gold standard surgical removal endometriosis - wide excision surgery. This is the procedure Leah needs. Yet, insurance in-network policies typically only cover providers who perform an outdated procedure called ablation. Leah learned the hard way that insurance limitations are guiding women toward the wrong procedure, often resulting in several follow up surgeries and sometimes even worsened symptoms.<br /><br />

<div>She is moving forward with this surgery even though all the funds are not immediately available because the level of her pain is at an intolerable level to function in her daily life. Her practitioner will use the most advanced and effective methods to remove lesions throughout her body, possibly in her bowels. Her surgery date is 2/22/22 at Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine at the Jersey City Medical Center.

<div>Two surgeons will be performing together on Leah's procedure due to its complexity, but neither are "in network" with her insurance coverage.  The portion of the surgery that insurance will not cover is $15,000, and we're trying to support this in any way we can. After all that Leah has been through, including the fear and isolation of having to demand the medical treatment she deserves, we are trying to ease this burden for her.

<div>I need just a little prayer if you’ve got one to spare today. I have never known physical pain like this, and I’m finding women’s health issues are among the hardest to have adequately addressed. I learned my upcoming surgery (already postponed) is set to be using a technique that does not wield the best results. I’m desperately seeking another provider who follows the endometriosis research (perhaps sparing me a hysterectomy). Many practitioners are using outdated protocol and medical standards are a muddled mess. Women like me must wander through the maze to research on our own. I sometimes try to put on my best face for the world, but I am going to admit today I feel lost, scared and overwhelmed.
</div>

Help Leah Fight Endometriosis

After countless scans, tests and an extended stay ( July 9th- September 5th) at ECMC our father was diagnosed with Stage IV+ Pharyngeal ( throat) Cancer.  After undergoing a 10 hour life threatening surgery, he had a complete Laryngectomy. Our father spent over two months in the hospital and his fight is FAR from over. He was sent home and is now under the care of our mother.

<p>Our mother is one of the most amazing, courageous, generous ,  and caring  individuals anyone has ever met.  She has taken on the responsibility of being his full time nurse at home, all the while managing her own business during this pandemic.  She has remained the wonderful wife, mother and grandmother she has always been. Through all of this she has also remained strong! Our mother continues to be the rock our family needs. Not once has she complained, but we are all aware of the financial burden she is enduring from these continuing medical expenses. 
</p>

<p>Our fathers fight is still far from  over. He will need to undergo several rounds of chemo as well as radiation. Our family realizes this is a hard time for everyone and we feel as though this pandemic has brought our community closer, and proven how supportive people can be during this time of need. It is not easy reaching out to family, friends and even strangers, however our family has fallen on difficult times. This has forced us to swallow our pride, and reach out to those who are willing to help in ANY way possible.
</p>

David Stephens Stage IV Pharyngeal Cancer Fight

<p>We’re raising money for Shea Akers’ medical bills and living expenses for the next few months. <br /><br />We were on day one of a camping trip in the Adirondacks and she stepped on an uneven patch of ground and dislocated her ankle and broke her tibia, fibula, and other bones in her ankle with a total of four breaks. A very exciting rescue via canoe rangers and fire rescue folks in a fan boat but it’s going to be three months of recovery non-weight bearing plus PT afterward and upward of a year to full recovery. She’s currently without health insurance and won’t be able to work.<br /><br />She may be partial cyborg after this surgery thanks to all the new hardware in her leg but she needs our help. Please donate anything you can, if you know her you know she’ll drop anything to help anyone else and now is our time to help her. Let’s get her back on her feet and back to her favorite places, out in the woods.

HELP FIX SHEA

<p>My name is Jennifer Hahner and my sister’s name is Amy Square. We lost our father to cancer on Sept 14,2020 at 0148 am after a long battle with cancer.  Amy’s husband , Adam Lukachko was on his way from Elyria to Madison, Ohio to be with my sister after our dad died. On his way here, he had chest pains and shortness of breath and other symptoms that lead me to believe that he needed to go to the emergency room, which he did. He was admitted to the hospital for a severe kidney infection and was discharged later the same day on oral antibiotics. 
</p>

<p>Adam was awake and alert this morning- having eaten breakfast and took a bath. Amy saw Adam at approximately 10:30 am and when she went to tell him that we were leaving to go do funeral arrangements for our father- he was unresponsive. 
</p>

<p>EMS was called but Adam was pronounced dead upon arrival. 
</p>

<p>Adam has no life insurance and my sister has no immediate funds for his funeral. He was only 40 years old and had no funeral or burial plans in place. 
</p>

<p>This is beyond comprehension to my family as to why something like this would happen. To say that we are devastated is such an understatement. 
</p>

<p>I would never- under any circumstances- ask people for money. However my sisteris beyond devastated- in a place that no living human being should be- losing her dad and then her husband within 24 hoursof one another. 
</p>

<p>Whatever you’re able to contribute to his funeral would be so appreciated- our family appreciates this more than you will ever know.

While some people were able to get their money back from PayPal or their banks, some fellow collectors have been left with no recourse because they were manipulated into paying via "Friends and Family" which offers no buyer protections, even for items not received.<br /><br />To my knowledge, there are still 5 people in the LF community that are still out about $1,500 total, and their banks and PayPal have told them it's their loss. I think it would be a nice gesture if we came together as a community to try to get them some of that money back. Even just $5 or $10 can make a dent in their losses, especially as we approach the holiday season where buying gifts for children and family members can be financially stressful. <br /><br />Please consider donating so that we can show that while scammers may get the best of us at times, we won't let them get us down or break us up! Lisa Frank Scam Victims Fund

Our brother Roy died Wednesday, May 29, 2019. He was a kind, fun loving brother who wanted to make the world a better and happier place. He loved to laugh and had a good sense of humor, even though he was disowned and treated bad by his father, Warren Jeffs. Roy was courageous in being our first sibling to leave the FLDS cult and tried to make a living from nothing, being rejected by most his family and friends. He tried hard to find his mother and make contact with her but was unable to do so. In remembrance of Roy we would like to give him an honorable funeral. Look at Nate’s stupid face. Believe it or not, he just blew it. As many of you know, we are bound for Europe in a couple of days, and in an attempt to gain exposure overseas, Nate was tasked with launching a Facebook ad. Recent developments as to the ethical inner workings of Facebook’s ad team aside, Nate managed to botch the entire process. As a result, our European tour is in jeopardy. <br /><br />Our financials here at the Yawpers are tight, at best, and due to Nate adding an additional zero to our budgeting field, we are now 2,750 dollars in the hole. In the course of our careers, we have never appealed directly to our fans for money, but desperate times call for desperate measures. <br /><br />We have waited years to go to Europe, and it’s a major step in our careers. Y’all have been so good to us over the years, and we hope you can help us now. We are in an incredibly tight spot, and Europe<br />hangs in the balance. Nate Blew It

I've been trying to avoid going this route for a couple years now, as I would prefer to be able to give something back to those helping me out, but I've finally run out of options. Every time I tried to set up a new project to help raise money, a new complication would arise or my Crohn's disease would start to get steadily worse to the point where it was no longer possible to move forward with my new plans.<br /><br />As it currently stands, I have to go to the hospital everyday for IV antibiotics because of infections caused by 3 fistulas and an open incision in my stomach. Even with the daily visits, they're still unable to keep the infections under control long enough to give me my next dose of Remicade,  since that in itself lowers my immune system activity. I am no longer allowed to eat or drink anything but water (most likely for the rest of my life now) and receive all my nutrients through a PICC line to my heart. The four doctors I see have all exhausted their resources and are now just basically keeping me alive until I can get myself into a place like Mayo Clinic where I can receive more advanced treatment.<br /><br />The problem is, I'm currently on a charity program to receive my healthcare since I'm unable to work, and getting into places like Mayo Clinic isn't exactly that easy when you're broke and uninsured (especially when you live in a state like Florida that has even less options for healthcare than most others). <br /><br />This is the reason I've finally given in and created a GoFundMe, so that I can start getting caught up on my medical bills and get myself the proper treatment I need. That way maybe I can do more with my life than lay in the fetal position in bed. :P<br /><br />Any little amount will help, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for even taking the time to read this. I've had epilepsy since I was 14 and for years it was fairly well controlled by medication on its own.<br /><br />I was seizure free with medication for 8 years but in February 2017 I started having seizures and it was decided medication by itself would no longer suffice as treatment.<br /><br />After going back into the hospital for testing and monitoring the doctors and I decided I would move onto more invasive monitoring and the path toward possible brain surgery.<br /><br />I am doing this fundraiser to raise awareness for Epilepsy and the funds will be <strong>donated to the Epilepsy Association of Western New Yor</strong>k, NOT to myself.<br /><br />I have to <strong>shave my head</strong> for this and will be doing that on <strong>March 19</strong> in Buffalo, NY.  I am looking for monetary donations as well as <strong>PEOPLE TO SHAVE WITH ME</strong>!
