HELP US PLANT FRUIT TREES FOR LIFE Fruit for Life is a community-led environmental project created by Global Climate Vision, an NGO based in The Gambia, in partnership with Planet Caretakers Gambia and Planet Caretakers, an environmental nonprofit born in Portugal and growing internationally. The long-term vision is bold: To plant 1 million fruit trees in schools, hospitals, communities and public spaces. But this campaign is focused on the next practical step: helping the team in The Gambia buy, transport, plant and care for fruit trees now, while also building the local nursery capacity needed to grow this project sustainably over time. These trees are not only trees. They are future shade for children. They are fruit growing in school grounds. They are living classrooms. They are protection against heat, soil degradation and climate change. They are a gift planted today for communities that will need them tomorrow. WHY THIS MATTERS In many schools and communities, there is land, there is commitment, and there are young people ready to learn and care for the Earth. What is missing are the resources to scale the work properly. Fruit trees can create direct and lasting impact. They help improve food security, restore local ecosystems, support biodiversity, cool school and community spaces, and teach children that caring for nature also means caring for people. A fruit tree planted in a school is not just a tree. It can become shade during a hot day. It can become fruit for a child. It can become a lesson in climate action. It can become a reason for a community to gather, protect and grow. WHO IS BEHIND THE PROJECT Global Climate Vision is the lead NGO behind the Fruit for Life Project in The Gambia. Planet Caretakers Gambia is supporting local mobilisation, visibility and community engagement. Planet Caretakers, an environmental nonprofit founded in Portugal and a European Climate Pact Partner, is supporting international visibility, fundraising and partnership development. Planet Caretakers has already mobilised more than 3,200 volunteers, supported over 370 environmental initiatives, built 25 active teams, and helped remove more than 54 tonnes of waste from beaches, forests, rivers and communities. Together, we want to help this fruit tree movement grow. WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP At this stage, Global Climate Vision is buying small fruit trees that are already ready to plant, because the project still needs funding to fully develop and run its own nursery. Each young fruit tree currently costs around 150-350 Gambian Dalasi, depending on the type of tree, size, season and availability. This means donations can create direct, visible impact quickly - helping put fruit trees into school grounds, hospitals and communities now - while also supporting the longer-term goal of developing nursery capacity so the project can grow more trees locally and scale more sustainably. The dream is 1 million fruit trees. But the work begins with each tree that reaches a school, a hospital, a village or a community space. WHAT YOUR DONATION WILL HELP FUND Your donation will support the next phase of the Fruit for Life Project, including: Fruit trees ready to plant - buying young fruit trees currently costing around 150-350 Gambian dalasi each Transport and fuel - moving trees to schools, hospitals, villages and community spaces Nursery development - helping build the local capacity to grow more trees in the future Tools and planting materials - shovels, watering cans, buckets, gloves and basic field equipment Soil preparation and care - helping give each tree a better chance to survive and grow Community planting days - involving students, teachers, volunteers and local leaders Monitoring and follow-up - supporting visits, photos, location mapping and progress updates for donors This campaign does not claim that one fundraiser alone will plant 1 million trees. The 1 million fruit trees goal is the long-term vision. This first fundraising goal will help fund the next practical phase - growing, buying, transporting, planting and monitoring fruit trees in The Gambia, while strengthening the local nursery and logistics capacity needed to scale the project responsibly. HOW DONATIONS CAN HELP Every donation supports the full journey of a tree - from nursery or local supplier, to transport, to planting, to care and follow-up. A small donation can help support young fruit trees and planting materials A larger donation can help transport trees to schools and communities Company support can help sponsor a school, hospital or community planting phase Monthly donations can help with follow-up care, monitoring and future planting rounds And if you cannot donate, you can still help by sharing this campaign with friends, schools, companies, environmental groups and anyone who believes that a better future can be planted. We want this project to be more than a one-day planting event. We want each tree to have the best possible chance to survive, grow and serve the community for years to come. WHAT DIFFERENT DONATIONS CAN HELP MAKE POSSIBLE Every donation supports the full journey of a tree - from purchase or nursery development, to transport, planting, care and follow-up. €5 / $6 can help support one young fruit tree ready to plant, plus basic planting needs €15 / $17 can help support several young fruit trees for a school or community space €30 / $35 can help support a small cluster of fruit trees and basic planting materials €50 / $58 can help with fruit trees, transport and fuel for planting activities €100 / $116 can help support a larger school, hospital or community planting effort €250 / $291 can help strengthen nursery development, tools, logistics and future planting capacity Young fruit trees currently cost around 150-350 Gambian Dalasi each, depending on the type of tree, size, season and availability. Because the project still needs funding to fully develop its own nursery, the team is currently buying small fruit trees ready to plant while working toward a more sustainable local growing system. These values are examples of what donations can help make possible. Final costs may vary depending on local prices, tree availability, transport distances, exchange rates and planting conditions. TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY Because GoFundMe does not currently support The Gambia as a withdrawal country, this campaign is being hosted by Débora Sá, Founder and CEO of Planet Caretakers, to help raise funds internationally on behalf of the project partners. Funds raised will be transferred responsibly to support the Fruit for Life Project led by Global Climate Vision, with Planet Caretakers Gambia and Planet Caretakers as partners. We are committed to sharing updates, photos, planting progress, location mapping where possible, and receipts or cost information when available, so donors can see the real impact they helped create. This is not charity from a distance. It is partnership, trust and shared climate action. HELP US PLANT LIFE Your donation, no matter the size, helps this project move forward. One tree can feed. One tree can teach. One tree can cool the ground beneath a child’s feet. One tree can become a living promise to the next generation. Now imagine what thousands - and one day, 1 million - can do. Please donate, share this campaign, and help us plant fruit trees for life.
Hello, We are Planet Caretakers (NGO from Portugal) and We Clean We Green is an NGO from Malawi, with who we are honored to walk side by side as partners, helping nature and communities. So once again we hold hands in this final push to fund the Waste Management Facility they dream with. In the heart of Lilongwe, Malawi, youth are ready to clean rivers, streets, and hearts. The land is secured. The walls are rising. But only 10% stands between them and a permanent waste-to-hope waste management facility. We launched Planet Caretakers Malawi with youth-led partner We Clean We Green. LOCAL HANDS, GLOBAL HEARTBEAT In Lilongwe, youth clubs, schools, and entire neighbourhood are ready - to clean, protect, and care. But before action, we need foundation. This small Waste Management Facility will turn waste into worth, chaos into system. Because when youth rise, communities rise — and the planet breathes easier. WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP The build was fully funded by UMI FUND in 2024 — a huge step forward. But Malawi’s currency drastically devalued, inflating the cost of basic materials and creating a modest shortfall. Your €1.300,79/$1,600 USD will help build the Waste Management Facility. How? Cement – €822,44/$954 Timber – €732,78/$850 ️ Local Labor – €228/$265 Transport – €146/$170 (Stretch goal: PPE, signage & safety gear for 30 days — €2.155/$2,500) WHY THIS MATTERS Waste Without a Waste Management Facility Is Displacement - A cleanup without a destination just moves pollution around. The Material Recovery Facility (MRF) brings responsibility first. Empowers Youth Action - Volunteers, schools, and civic clubs are ready. This gives them a real system to plug into. Data-Driven Change - With sorting and weighing on-site, we’ll track and report how much plastic, metal, compost, or residuals move each month. Trustworthy & Transparent - We post receipts, photos, maps, and quarterly “Responsibility Reports” to show exactly how your contribution made impact. THE IMPACT IN NUMBERS 25 youth leaders trained 5,000kg waste to be sorted monthly 3 community schools involved HOW YOU CAN HELP Donate - Every dollar builds the future hub. Corporate Match - Fund a section or sponsor materials. In-Kind - Supplies like PPE kits, signage, and safety tools welcome. Share - Post this campaign with your network to spread the word. There will be no contest, prize, or promotion offered in exchange for donations made to the GoFundMe. HOW YOUR DONATION WILL BE HANDLED Direct, accountable, and fully transparent As the CEO and Founder of Planet Caretakers, I Débora Sá will personally oversee the secure collection and transfer of all campaign donations. Because GoFundMe does not yet support direct withdrawals in Malawi, funds will be received through my verified personal account in Portugal. Once the goal is met, I will transfer 100% of the funds (minus GoFundMe fees) to our local NGO partner in Malawi via a trusted international service such as Wise or Western Union . We prioritize transparency - donors will receive: Itemized receipts Photo and video proof of purchases and progress Updates showing exactly how each dollar helped complete the Waste Management Facility TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY You’ll always know where your donation went: Open budget and receipts Weekly photo/video updates Monthly “Responsibility Reports” (volunteer stats, waste metrics, destinations) Quarterly Impact PDFs FAQs Do you have city permission for the site? Yes. Site is confirmed with Lilongwe City Council. Documentation is available privately to major donors. Why not start cleanups now? Because waste without a final destination is displacement. The Waste Management Facility ensures every cleanup has measurable impact. Can I support in other ways? Absolutely! We welcome: In-kind donations (PPE, tools, signage, scales) NGO, foundation, or CSR partnerships Shares across social networks or in local media “On behalf of Malawi’s youth — thank you for believing that small foundations can build huge futures.” – Débora Sá, Founder & CEO, Planet Caretakers
