Hello,
We are Planet Caretakers (NGO from Portugal) and We Clean We Green is an NGO from Malawi, with who we are honored to walk side by side as partners, helping nature and communities. So once again we hold hands in this final push to fund the Waste Management Facility they dream with.
In the heart of Lilongwe, Malawi, youth are ready to clean rivers, streets, and hearts. The land is secured. The walls are rising. But only 10% stands between them and a permanent waste-to-hope waste management facility.
We launched Planet Caretakers Malawi with youth-led partner We Clean We Green.
LOCAL HANDS, GLOBAL HEARTBEAT
In Lilongwe, youth clubs, schools, and entire neighbourhood are ready - to clean, protect, and care. But before action, we need foundation. This small Waste Management Facility will turn waste into worth, chaos into system.
Because when youth rise, communities rise — and the planet breathes easier.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
The build was fully funded by UMI FUND in 2024 — a huge step forward. But Malawi’s currency drastically devalued, inflating the cost of basic materials and creating a modest shortfall.
Your €1.300,79/$1,600 USD will help build the Waste Management Facility. How?
- Cement – €822,44/$954
- Timber – €732,78/$850 ️
- Local Labor – €228/$265
- Transport – €146/$170
- (Stretch goal: PPE, signage & safety gear for 30 days — €2.155/$2,500)
WHY THIS MATTERS
- Waste Without a Waste Management Facility Is Displacement - A cleanup without a destination just moves pollution around. The Material Recovery Facility (MRF) brings responsibility first.
- Empowers Youth Action - Volunteers, schools, and civic clubs are ready. This gives them a real system to plug into.
- Data-Driven Change - With sorting and weighing on-site, we’ll track and report how much plastic, metal, compost, or residuals move each month.
- Trustworthy & Transparent - We post receipts, photos, maps, and quarterly “Responsibility Reports” to show exactly how your contribution made impact.
THE IMPACT IN NUMBERS
- 25 youth leaders trained
- 5,000kg waste to be sorted monthly
- 3 community schools involved

HOW YOUR DONATION WILL BE HANDLED
Direct, accountable, and fully transparent
As the CEO and Founder of Planet Caretakers, I Débora Sá will personally oversee the secure collection and transfer of all campaign donations.
Because GoFundMe does not yet support direct withdrawals in Malawi, funds will be received through my verified personal account in Portugal. Once the goal is met, I will transfer 100% of the funds (minus GoFundMe fees) to our local NGO partner in Malawi via a trusted international service such as Wise or Western Union .
We prioritize transparency - donors will receive:
- Itemized receipts
- Photo and video proof of purchases and progress
- Updates showing exactly how each dollar helped complete the Waste Management Facility
TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY
You’ll always know where your donation went:
- Open budget and receipts
- Weekly photo/video updates
- Monthly “Responsibility Reports” (volunteer stats, waste metrics, destinations)
- Quarterly Impact PDFs
