<div>Stephen received radiation and initial chemo at Scottish Rite in Atlanta. He then continued chemo at Children's Hospital of Georgia in Augusta, but unfortunately, after 4 months, the cancer has continued to spread and is now in his spine. Due to the chemo, his platelets have dropped so low he had massive nose bleeds and was admitted to the Pediatric ICU multiple times. He also started having seizures. We are now looking at experimental clinical trials to enroll him in, possibly at St. Jude's or elsewhere.

<div>On April 4th, 2023, Stephen Jr.’s world was turned upside down. He was diagnosed with brain cancer after a few short weeks of experiencing headaches and vomiting. Doctors found a brain tumor called a medulloblastoma, almost the size of an orange, in his brain. It’s an aggressive type of tumor and requires aggressive treatment - on April 7th, 2023 Stephen Jr. underwent surgery to have it removed. Due to the tumor’s location, right against the brain stem, entire removal was not possible.

<div>When he was diagnosed, Stephen Jr’s main concern was for his father, saying things like “I’m worried about my dad”. He has a heart of gold, a beautiful sense of humor and possesses unwavering courage which gives our family the same courage to relentlessly fight this with him.

<div>Stephen Jr. survived the surgery but not without some complications. He was unable to move the right side of his body or get out of bed, he was unable to speak, and his eyesight was affected. All of these have required intensive rehabilitation and he has been admitted to the hospital all this time. Our rambunctious, funny, fun-loving Stephen Jr. went from a boy climbing trees and looking forward to finishing 3rd grade and a summer of fun, to being bed-bound and days filled with intensive rehab, radiation and chemo.

<div>Though unable to speak, he retains his ability to understand our voices, so he communicates via thumbs up/thumbs down and hand gestures (see video). As I mentioned previously, Stephen Jr. has a beautiful sense of humor and within a few days after surgery, he was able to laugh at a lot of the things we were saying to him, so we knew although he couldn’t speak, that he was understanding us and we were hopeful that he would find his voice again. With intensive rehab, he is slowly regaining the ability to move the right side of his body, walk and speak.

<div>We know he has a very long road ahead and there are a lot of unknowns - this is why we are asking for your help. The road ahead for Stephen Jr. consists of 6-8 weeks of radiation followed by 12 months of chemotherapy.

<div>He is at a hospital that is 3 hours away from home, so a lot of travel and lodging is required to ensure Stephen Jr. always has a family member there fighting with him. His dad had to return to work but still has to take time off to be there for him. We are asking for your support of our family so that we can cover expenses for travel and having someone be at his side while he is so far away from home. We dare not even think of what the medical bills for this will be like. We also anticipate in the next few months having to outfit his home with a wheelchair ramp and other accessories so that he can return home.

Can we help? I told her we would try our best. And we did help! His fellow employees donated, you, his Irvine neighbors donated, and he just sent word that since he paid his back rent, the eviction notice is lifted. Now, we are helping him get his car fixed so he can care for his children, rather than sitting on the bus for hours.

If she can get clients back again, she can be on her way to supporting herself, and being able to find a room she can afford. She loves Irvine, and wants to stay in her community.

We are devastated and heartbroken, my daughter's brand new as of July 1st, White Driven eBike and 13th birthday present was stolen while locked from a friend's gated home on 15th street in Newport Beach today. This bike was a belated 13th birthday present since she could not have party due to the lock down. My elderly parents and I went in together and got her the fat tires because I felt they were safer. She has endured so much last year with being the subject of mean girl drama type bullying/exclusion at school, crying and begging to leave the school .  Between that &amp; the lock down isolation that followed with no friends, she became so depressed. She and I are heartbroken her new present was stolen. My cousin, Tristyn, passed earlier today in a motorcycle accident. She was only 17 years old. She always had a smile on her face &amp; had a drive to make others laugh. Brett's Battle

<span style="font-size:1.0625rem;">All,</span><br /><br /> <br /><br />As many of you have read by now, a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020 in Calabasas, CA has claimed the lives of nine people. John, Keri and Alyssa Altobelli were among the nine victims. Most devastating to our Red Sox family, John, Keri, and Alyssa were the father, stepmother and younger sister of one of our scouts, J.J. Altobelli.<br /><br /> <br /><br />As J.J. and his sister Lexi cope with the immense sadness stemming from this accident, we want to rally to raise money for them. Ensuring that J.J. and Lexi don’t have to worry about financial insecurity moving forward is the least we can do.<br /><br /> <br /><br />While the Red Sox and its Foundation will be providing financial and emotional support, we understand that opening this up to the public can provide the Altobelli Family with the most security moving forward. The Madison West Family has come together in response to the unjust firing of Marlon Anderson by the most senior administrators of the Madison Metropolitan School District. Led by the student leaders of the Black Student Union (BSU), students and staff are rallying behind Marlon and his family. <br /><br />Marlon has dedicated over 11 years of service to MMSD, and is the bedrock and heart of the Mad West community. Not only does he speak truth to our students, staff, and families, but he backs up that truth with his actions. In a school of over 2,300 students and 200 staff, Marlon has the desire and uncanny ability to remember every single person’s name. He can read what each person needs with a simple look, and generously fills that need with love: a kind word, a silly song, a loving-but-firm warning. Whatever is needed, Marlon provides it or finds someone who can. He is an exemplar of Black Excellence and is a role model for students and staff alike. <br /><br />Marlon and his family--a wife and three sons--need their Madison community to love and support them in the same way that he has dedicated his life loving and supporting our children and staff. Hi everyone, Britany here. Our dad, Scot Matteson has been diagnosed with stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer. As many of you know, our dad has fought through most of his life to make sure we had an amazing one. He always has put our feelings and needs before his, and with everything he has done, it has made him an extraordinary dad. He raised us kids on his own for over 15 years and doesn't like asking for help, but truly we need it. Scot will be starting chemo therapy next week, every week for three months to potentially shrink the cancer. After the chemo therapy he will be doing a surgery to remove the cancer from his pancreas. This support page is dedicated to one of our own, our dearest<br />Cherelle Reeves-Berrard from her best friend Kristine.   <br /><br />After waking from a routine colonoscopy a few weeks ago  she received some devastating news….”we found a tumor and it’s cancer”.  <br /><br />Since that day her life has been turned upside down with phone calls, research and doctor visits. Her 2nd and more in-depth colonoscopy and CT scan by a specialist revealed that it is Stage 3 rectal cancer which has infiltrated the surrounding lymph nodes. This comes on the heels of losing her husband David age 42 to Stage 4 pancreatic cancer 13 years ago.<br /><br />Cherelle will have to make many financial sacrifices and difficult<br />decisions in the coming months. She is so very strong for those she<br />loves and now needs to know she has an army loving and supporting her.<br /><br />Her heart knows no bounds.  A kind, compassionate and loyal friend<br />who’s done so much for so many and is always there with a shoulder to<br />cry on and helpful advice. Porsha Owens, 28, was killed June 11, 2018, near her St. Louis County home. Owens leaves three children RJ, 8, Hailee, 4, and Haiyden, 3.  She was a treasured member of the Riverview Gardens School District security team. Her family is hoping to raise 500,000 to help support her three children.  <br /><br />I, Yvette King, her mother, will be responsible for the funds. Help needed - Tim Donnelly medical

<p>As some of you may know, my mom (Julie Flynn) has been diagnosed with Stage 4 (terminal)  Glioblastoma Brain Cancer.<br /><br />This has come as a shock to all of us, in fact it's still hard to really comprehend the reality of it all. The prognosis for terminal brain cancer is about a 3% chance of survival, with a life span of about 12 months. It is one of the most aggressive and deadliest types of cancer. However, I do believe that miracles happen and my mom can get through this.<br /> We are trying to remain as positive and hopeful as we can, but of course its hard. The tumors have been very aggressive and relentless. She has had two surgeries and will most likely have more to come. My mom just turned 48 years old, this type of cancer usually occurs in people 65 or older, so you can see why were still in shock. She has changed so much, its hard to look at her and think she is the same person; but her spirit and sense of humor are still there, and thats what gives me hope at the end of the day.</p>
<p>After her second surgery, she received a chemotherapy treatment called Avastin, which caused her to not only have internal bleeding, but blood clots in her legs and her lungs. Surgery at this point would be extremely dangerous, so the doctors decided a blood transfusion would be the safest option. The procedure went well, however, the blood clots will take months to dissolve on their own, if they ever do. The scariest part about the blood clots, is that they could move to her heart at any point in time.</p>
<p>Her physical appearance and ability to do simple things has changed drastically in the last few months to the point where she cannot walk, let alone stand up on her own. Her speech has been drastically impacted, and her ability to write or even read is about the same level as a 4 year old. My family and I decided it would be best if she was admitted to a care facility so they could provide the proper care for her. She has been there for a few weeks now, and its not certain when or if she will ever be able to go home.</p>
<p>Since the chemotherapy caused such terrible side effects and nearly killed her with blood clots, she will not continue with the treatment. That was her last option as far as traditional treatment goes; however, there is still hope. Duke University in North Carolina has had a recent breakthrough with their cancer research. After seven years of research, they have invented a type of treatment where they inject Polio (yes, polio) into the brain tumor, which not only paralyzes it from growing, but could even cause the brain tumor to completely disappear. The thought of my mom being able to overcome this deadly disease and actually live a few more years, possibly be cured, is the greatest thing that could happen for my family.</p>
<p>Clinical trials are not free, and insurance does not always cover the the expense, which could be thousands of dollars, sometimes $50,000-200,000. We are going to do everything we can in our power to get her there.</p>

Julie's Battle with Brain Cancer

Please help the legendary Mike Bast, 7 time US National Speedway Champion, with his expensive hospital bill and rehabilitation efforts.  Mike suffered an ischemic stroke caused by interruption of  blood supply to the cerebral artery in the brain, which interfers with speech and motor skills. As a result, Mike will have to undergo extensive physical therapy and rehabilitation to learn to regain balance and learn how to walk again.  <br /><br />Those of you that know Mike and Dee Ann know that they have been married for 41 years and through that time Mike has financially supported his wife and family via real estate. However, when the housing bubble burst what would have been Mike and Dee's retirement was quickly lost to the worst economic downturn since The Great Depression. To make ends meet Mike had been selling and installing awnings. In fact, it was when he was with one of his sons just after an awning installation that he first suffered the stroke. And now we have been told that he will never be able to work again.<br /><br />He has had to undergo many expensive tests, scans, and a lengthy hospital stay only to be told that the hardest part of recovery lay ahead in the form of intense physical therapy. The expense incurred by this stroke and the impending cost of physical therapy is more than the family can handle. So with that we humbly ask for your support in the form of a donation so that we might see this speedway legend get a chance to throw a leg over a bike again someday.  Thank you all for anything you can spare to give as we move forward with our lives and adjust to a new sense of normalcy.
