<div>Marmalade is my beloved tortie &amp; former hobo (who will still bring me French fries from the dumpster ). She's enjoyed being my companion, going on daily walks, and living the happy indoor life. Recently, she's been diagnosed with Feline Sarcoma. It's an aggressive cancer that spreads through the soft tissue.  We are partnering with a cancer research facility to find alternative means of recovery and prevent amputation.

<div>Working with a University means that she and I will be "paying it forward". As it turns out, people respond very similarly to treatments as cats do. So whatever the outcome was marmalade the results will help find a cure for cancer in humans.

<div>The oncologist is planning to do a radiation treatment with Amino injections. The course of action is a visit to the vet every two weeks. I'm going to ask if treatment once a month is an option as each round is more than I make in a paycheck.

<div>The facility is also working on finding grant money that hasn't been allocated already for the year. I spoke with the financial department and because they work with the University, they can't take care credit. I have still applied for one in the event of needing to purchase medication. So that's where we're at and why we're looking at 10k.

<div><strong><em>Kirsti's a 37-year-old with a heart of gold. She's kind, caring, and someone who touches your heart with just her smile. She would do anything for her family and friends if they were ever in need. Kirsti's greatest gift is her incredible devotion as a mother to her 4 children: Janessa, Jonah, Mia, and Jr (who is a very active 3-year-old who still relies on Kirsti for literally everything). She is also a loving wife to Jonathan, who has been fighting this battle along with her and continues to be her biggest supporter.</em></strong>

<div><strong><em>In June of 2023, everything changed for Kirsti &amp; her family. She was 8 weeks pregnant when she started to not feel well and was in a lot of pain. Her fear was that something was wrong with the baby. With the pain and symptoms she was having, she went to the ER. They did all the proper exams, labs, and testing. Nothing could prepare them for the news they would soon have to process.</em></strong>

<div><strong><em>Kirsti was diagnosed with an aggressive form of metastatic stage 4 colon and liver cancer. Kirsti and Jonathan would also learn that their baby would not be able to survive the chemo treatments that Kirsti needed to begin ASAP. They would be faced with tough decisions that are beyond devastating and the hardest thing any parents would ever have to go through.</em></strong>

<div><strong><em>Kirsti started treatment at Lovelace Cancer Center. She had a port surgically placed and started intravenous chemotherapy. She then transferred to New Mexico Cancer Center, which was a better fit for her. She went through intravenous chemotherapy every 2 weeks for 18 months and an embolism (chemo beads that are placed to cut the blood supply off) in this case the large liver tumor, which was a successful treatment.</em></strong>

<div><strong><em>The latest visit with her oncologist was a setback. The oncologist stated that the intravenous chemotherapy is no longer effectively working and switched her to oral chemotherapy medication. Also, she referred Kirsti to MD Anderson in Houston for more advanced treatment that is not offered here in New Mexico. With this referral comes the expense of travel, gas/flights, lodging, food, and anything else that may come up with the treatments, etc.</em></strong>

After months of homelessness, Toba had finally found stability, renting a room at 2951 N Fair Oaks Ave, Altadena, CA - a home that tragically burned down in the recent wildfire. Now, he’s left with no home, no belongings, and no financial support to rebuild.

Help Toba Rebuild After Losing Everything in the Eaton Fire

She developed an infection through her urinary tract because she has to sit in the bed for everything including relieving herself. It was luckily caught by her daughter but it took a serious impact on her health.

<div>My name is Beverley and I'm fundraising to help get a new wheelchair and medical equipment such as a ceiling lift and bathroom commode chair. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2006 and my mobility has gotten progressively worse ever since. I now no longer have the ability to stand or walk on my own, as well as the inability to use my hands/arms to feed myself, write etc. I have been completely dependant on my wheelchair to get around for over 15 years now and my current chair has been broken down and not functional at all for almost 3 years now.

<div>Also I have been using my current ceiling lift for over 14 years and it is constantly breaking down and stopping while I'm using it--including while I'm in the air, which is dangerous.

<div>Without my chair I am bed ridden, which has caused me to develop bed sores, hospital visits due to poor circulation and blood clotting, and has taken the last bit of independence I had away from me, because my wheelchair acted as my legs, it's was truly an extension of me.

<div>My wheelchair was custom fitted to my body and unique needs because of my disability, and pain levels. It allowed me to drive the chair with the head array control because my hands are unable to operate the joystick. With this control I could also raise and lower the leg rests and adjust the way I sat on the chair to keep my circulation moving and to avoid sores from sitting in one way for too long. Unfortunately none of these functions are working and the wheelchair will no longer turn on. I had a technician come for possibly repair the chair, but it needs too many parts and because it's old it needs to be completely replaced.

I am 69 years old and because I'm over 65 I'm also ineligible for Disability funding as their cut off is 65 years of age.

Support Bill More’s Recovery

For the past seven+ years, Aaron and Mischa have been trying to get pregnant. After failed fertility attempts and some heartbreak, they heard God say 'pray until the miracle comes'.<br /><br />Unsure how things would work out, they remained faithful.<br /><br />It was in December of 2017 that Aaron and Mischa decided they would begin the adoption journey. A week later, a family member came into contact with a mother looking for adoptive parents for her child. After several emails and a FaceTime meeting with this amazing mother, Aaron and Mischa were chosen to be that child's parents!<br /><br />Here's the kicker, the baby is due on JANUARY 17th!!!<br /><br />This means things have to move quickly and funds will need to be raised! Aaron and Mischa are planning to fly out to the birth state as soon as possible to be there for the birth. They will have to stay there until everything can be sorted out with the agency (potentially 45 days).<br /><br />Below is a list of costs that they'll have to cover in the next few months:<br /><br />· Adoption fees<br />· Legal fees<br />· Travel expenses (Plane tickets, transportation and stay for up to 45 days in birth state)<br />· Living costs (Seattle rent)<br /><br />Right now, they are estimating that this out-of-state adoption will cost around $40,000. <br /><br />For the last year, they’ve been believing Ephesians 3:20 over their life. "God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!"<br /><br />And boy, isn’t this just above and beyond anyone’s wildest dreams? A Divine Adoption - Aaron + Mischa

<p>My sister Liz is the best. She is one of the kindest, most outgoing, and generous people you will ever meet. But, because the world is stupid and unfair, she was diagnosed earlier this year with Mucosa Melanoma, which has progressed to Stage 4. </p>
<p>This campaign has two purposes: The first is to help Liz meet her deductible for the year, and take some pressure off as she receives treatment over the coming months. </p>
<p>Unfortunately, there's no telling how effective the treatment will be, and the doctors are encouraging Liz to do the things she's always wanted to do, which brings us to the second purpose for this fundraiser: Liz has always wanted to see New York, and would like to travel there in January of 2018, while she is still healthy enough to do so.</p>

Help Liz Fight Cancer and See NY

I am 1 in 10 women worldwide that suffers from endometriosis.  What is endometriosis?  Endometriosis occurs when the endometrial cells, or uterine lining cells, exist outside of the uterus.  Each month the endometrial cells act as they should by swelling and thickening, then bleeding.  However, since they are outside of the uterus, this leads to endometrial lesions, which worsen over time and can cause severe pain.  So that is the definition , doesn't really mean much, does it?  <br /><br /> So what is  endometriosis to me?  It's a disease that has changed me and has caused me more pain than I knew was possible.  I decided to get off the pill a few years ago in hopes of trying for a family.  Within a few months I started having pain.  In fact, I remember the first night it became very noticeable.  Mike and I were going to bed and I said to him, "huh, I'm getting really bad cramps".  I thought it was just one of those things that randomly happens,  I never knew that was the beginning of my suffering. <br />  <br />  For the next year I wasn't really sure what was happening to me.  All I knew was that something wasn't right and I was in pain!  I would have pain all the time, some days were worse than others, some days I could manage and other days I would be laid up in bed crying.  I would have pain before, during and after my period.  I would have pain sitting, laying, standing, it didn't matter.  It was becoming part of my life and part of Mike's.  It started to interfere with my personal and work life.  What in the world was happening to me??  During this time I went to countless doctors, had countless ultrasounds, had countless blood work, went on different medicines, anything and everything tying to get better.  No doctor seemed to know what to say to me.  They just didn't know!  I started to do my own research and narrowed down that I may have endometriosis.  July 2012, I went to a gynecologist that listened to me and agreed that may be what I was suffering from and she said the only way to know for sure was to have a laparoscopic surgery.  Endometriosis does not show on ultrasounds or blood work, only with going in and seeing.  I wish I had known that before I spent all that time and money!<br /><br /> I had my first surgery for endometriosis August 2012.  The doctor confirmed that I did have endometriosis.  I now have a diagnosis!  I'm not crazy!  So the doctor must have helped me, right?  No, wrong!   She diagnosed me and that was it!  She opened me up, took some pictures,  and said yup that's what you got and sent me home!  She told Mike that the endometriosis was in an area she was not comfortable doing surgery on so she wasn't going to do anything.  She didn't even prescribe me any pain killers for the recovery as she thought I would become addicted.  So there I was again in pain with no solution and no end in sight.<br /><br /> At that point I did not know what pain was, it got so much worse!  It was as if the surgery angered the beast and now she was going to really show me what pain was.  The pain was no longer random it was with me every day, every minute.  I would wake up with pain, I would go to bed with pain, I would dream of pain!  It was no longer just a part of my life, it was my life.  My every thought was about the pain and how I needed to get rid of it.  I would go to work, the days I could go to work, and by the time I got home I was crawling in the door and praying/screaming for it to stop.  People asked me how I could manage to work all day and seem to be okay.  I found a way to make my mind forget about the pain and focus on work and nothing else.  As soon as my mind and body relaxed there it was.  It was as if I had a two personalities.  One without pain and one with.  It was a way for me to cope.  I started to change.  I was no longer me.  I was now a different person. The pain was the master and there was no room for anything else.  I am now a person with chronic pain.  I would never wish this on my worst enemy.  This is not a life. <br /><br /> The pain not only changed me it changed those around me.  My family was changed.  They saw me in this daily pain and couldn't do anything to stop it.  They were as helpless as I was.  Endometriosis destroys everything in it's path.  I have read many stories how relationships have ended due to this disease.  I was one of the lucky ones and my relationship not only lasted but got stronger.  I knew that I had a good man in my life.  Now I know I have an unbelievable man in my life, My Love Mike.  He has stood by my side, held my hand, heard my screams for help and never backed down.  He was the reason I was able to make it from day to day.  Without him I don't know if I would have made it.  He knows my pain and suffering more than anyone else on this world.  He has seen the true pain.  He has been changed and that is not right. The one person I tried to protect from all of this, received the worst part of it.  <br /><br /> August 2013, I had my second surgery for endometriosis.  Surgery could have not happened soon enough.  I was losing my mind, I was losing my heart and I was losing me.  I was at the edge of wanting to end everything as that seemed like a better option.  At that time I did not want to have a hysterectomy as I still wanted my options for a family.  The doctor went in removed cysts, removed endometriosis from my uterus, ovaries, pelvic wall and bladder.  He also burned everything that could be endometriosis.  The doctor never warned me that recovery was going to bring me pain  worse than anything I had known so far.  I knew pain and this kicked my ass! For three weeks I was a zombie of pain and no sleep, but I made it.  I was now going to start my new life!<br /><br /> As I started to live my new life without pain I was scared as the doctor told us that I would have 1 to 2 years before symptoms could return.  That couldn't happen as I had already gone to hell and back.  I did  my time.  I paid my dues to endometriosis.  Plus I couldn't endure pain like that  again.  I'm strong, but I'm not that strong.  I don't have another round in me.  So it wasn't going to happen, I would be the rare case that everything stays good.  It was good for a 11 months and then those familiar sensations of pain returned.  It's July 2014 and once again my life was going to be held captive by pain.  <br /><br />The difference this time is that I knew what was wrong and that I had options.  I had also vowed to myself that I would never go through that hell again and if need be I would have a hysterectomy.  A hysterectomy would be my last option as I still wanted to have children.  I always wanted kids.  When I was little around 5 I told my mom that I wanted no less than 10 kids.  I was meant to be a mom in my life.  I knew it.  However, that was not meant to be.  From the onset of pain many years ago I was put on high doses of hormones.  The hormones stopped my periods and were also suppose to stop the symptoms and the pain.  It never really stopped the symptoms and pain.  I knew as long as I was on the hormones that I would not be able to get pregnant, so I would try to get off of them , however that never lasted long as the pain would be too much to bare and there I was again.  My dreams of having kids slowly started fading away.  A part of me died!<br /><br />From July 2014 to today I have gone from bad to worse.  The pain is once again constant, it is daily, it is my partner from morning to night.  My coping skills don't work as well as they used to.  I used to be able to separate from the pain, now it draws me back with ease.  I try to explain my pain to Mike and to others for them to have a sense of what I go through.  It feels like I'm in labor all the time (I know I don't really know what labor feels like), my uterus is always contracting,  I have sharp pains that stab at my uterus and ovaries.  I feel like everything is going to fall out.  I feel like I am filling up with hot water.  My back hurts, my hips hurts, my legs hurt, I get headaches, hell my vagina hurts!  I'm tired all the time.  I'm always at a pain level of 7 or higher.  And so much more that I can't put into words.  This is my hell and I'm done.  I have now come to my last option, hysterectomy.  Nothing else is working.  The doctors agree that it is time.  I know it's time.  <br /><br />I tell my story for two reasons, 1. I think I needed to put it in writing to see myself that I have gone through a lot and I'm not crazy, I'm not making it up, this is real and 2. for those that read my story to have a better understanding of what I deal with day to day.  This is the reason I don't go out, why I cancel plans, why I miss work,  why I complain, why I talk about endometriosis so much.  No one should go through this kind of pain. <br /><br />I have scheduled my surgery for May 4th!  I am happy, nervous, overwhelmed, anxious and every other emotion you can think of.  Recovery is going to be 6 weeks.  Surgery is expensive and we will not have my income coming in during all of my recovery.  We will still have bills and everyday expenses.  Those don't stop.  I am not one to ask for help as I have always been one to stand on my own two feet, but now I am asking for help.  We can't afford for me to have surgery, but I can't afford not to.  My physical, mental and emotional state need to have surgery.  I'm not only having surgery for me, but also for Mike.  He deserves so much more than this.  If you can help I would truly appreciate it.  It would mean more to me than I could express.  If you can't help financially, I ask for you to please pass this on to your friends and family. <br /><br />Here's to new beginnings!  Much love to all of you!
