Marmalade is my beloved tortie & former hobo (who will still bring me French fries from the dumpster ). She's enjoyed being my companion, going on daily walks, and living the happy indoor life. Recently, she's been diagnosed with Feline Sarcoma. It's an aggressive cancer that spreads through the soft tissue. We are partnering with a cancer research facility to find alternative means of recovery and prevent amputation.

Working with a University means that she and I will be "paying it forward". As it turns out, people respond very similarly to treatments as cats do. So whatever the outcome was marmalade the results will help find a cure for cancer in humans.

Update:

The oncologist is planning to do a radiation treatment with Amino injections. The course of action is a visit to the vet every two weeks. I'm going to ask if treatment once a month is an option as each round is more than I make in a paycheck.

The facility is also working on finding grant money that hasn't been allocated already for the year. I spoke with the financial department and because they work with the University, they can't take care credit. I have still applied for one in the event of needing to purchase medication. So that's where we're at and why we're looking at 10k.
