<div>This year has really tested us. It began with the devastating loss of one of our twin girls early in my pregnancy. Soon after, I spent months battling hyperemesis, and at our anatomy scan, we learned our surviving daughter has a Type II vasa previa. This diagnosis placed me on strict pelvic rest and added even more uncertainty to this pregnancy.

<div> Last month, Max was unexpectedly laid off from his job. Since then, we’ve both been searching for work with no luck, doing everything we can to keep our family afloat while preparing to welcome our baby girl. As if all of that wasn’t enough, yesterday I was in a car accident at six months pregnant in our brand new family car. We were hit by an uninsured teenage driver going 40-50mph. I was admitted to labor and delivery for monitoring to make sure baby and I were okay. Thankfully, no major injuries to me or the kids, but I’m very sore and unable to work. To make matters even more difficult, the driver who hit us was uninsured, leaving us to navigate the financial impact.

<div>Earlier this month, Mitch went to the hospital for severe chest pain and after initial scans, he was admitted to the hospital under the assumption that he had double pneumonia. Eventually admitted to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, his doctor reported that the results of his mediastinal lymph node biopsy show small cell cancer in three out of four of the lymph nodes sampled. There is also evidence of extensive necrosis in one of the nodes.

<div>Currently, we know the nature of this aggressive form of cancer but not the extent to which it has spread, his longer-term prognosis, or his treatment plan. Mitch is awaiting another round of scans scheduled for early to mid-June to clarify the stage of his cancer and potential treatments.

<div>As some of you know, after living in Mexico City for nearly 12 years, Mitch recently relocated to Jacksonville, Florida to be close to his twin sister and her family and is still very much in transition. Their father has been fighting cancer for the past several years, keeping the family in crisis mode for some time. As you can imagine, Mitch’s diagnosis adds another layer of stress for them.

Sarah's Rockstar Beat Cancer Tour

My brother, Eric Newsome, was killed in a motorcycle accident on Saturday afternoon. He was hit by a car on Highway 17 in front of Ivy Hall. Eric was only 19 years old, and had so much more living left to do. He had one of the kindest hearts and always brought a smile onto everyone’s faces. Our mother does not have the finances to pay for funeral services. We are working on trying to sell some of his belongings, but it is totally gut wrenching to do. All of the proceeds would go towards his funeral. We appreciate everyone’s kind words during this extremely difficult time. I thank everyone who has kept us in their thoughts. I am so grateful for those on the scene to be with my little brother in his last moments, and to all of his friends whom he considered family who have shown non stop love and support for us. Thank you all for your time reading this, I think we should all take life one day at a time and celebrate everyday. That’s what Eric would want us to be doing.

<p>Last week, we found out Sarah has breast cancer and it is also in her lymph nodes. This week, she will have a barrage of tests. She will likely start chemo late next week.

<p>This will be a long process. Currently, we are looking at 5 months of chemo followed by surgery. A month after surgery, she will undergo 7 weeks of radiation.

Help Sarah pay her cancer bills

Anyone who knew Nidia immediately fell in love with her, even when we were little kids. Her smile was intoxicating and she never met a stranger. She always lived life to the fullest and was loved by so many people from all walks of life. She was taken from us suddenly this past Monday. We are still not sure what happened to her as she was so healthy. She passed away in Florida and we are making arrangements to bring Nidia home. Her family is very small with only an elderly mother and brother remaining  so I am asking for any kind of monetary help to allow us to give her a small burial and celebrate her life. The old “gang” from Wellington Hills are rallying around her brother as this unbearable event has been placed solely on his shoulders. She was one of the most genuine, caring and loving friends you could ever wish you had the pleasure of knowing. Please help us if you find it in your heart. The ChamBurn Farm took in 600 livestock and two Farmers from three nearby farms during the Oregon Wildfires in early September.  We are providing and purchasing supplies and feed for some of the animals in our care.  Our goal is to provide a safe and clean environment for the animals. We currently have a barn full of hay that is paid for. This feed was intended for our own animals and we are using it to feed the guests as well.   It would be helpful to offset the cost at $15 per bale for Alfalfa and $8/bale for Hay.<br /><br />All donations received in excess of the cost of supplies and feed will be donated to the following Non-Profits...<br /><br />50% of excess donations will be passed on to the Food Animal Concerns Trust.  The ChamBurn Farm is currently participating in a year-long Humane Farming Mentorship Program and received an Emergency Mini-Grant last Spring to help fund the creation of our website and online store and purchase an additional freezer for meat storage.<br /><br />50% of excess donations will be passed on to the Friends of Family Farmers and Oregon Pasture Network.  FoFF and the OPN have been instrumental in working with the Oregon Legislature to ease restrictions on community access to meat during the current pandemic. Support ChamBurn Farm Livestock Refugees

Sen.  Marlon Kimpson and Rep. Marvin Pendarvis created the Charleston Together initiative, whose funds will be available to nonprofit organizations to enhance community and race relations by providing resources to programs and organizations that work with African American and other underserved communities. Another goal of the fund is to support programs that have the capacity to help small businesses that have limited or no available insurance coverage to fully recover from damages due to recent events. Charleston Together is proud to partner with the Coastal Community Foundation-a 501(c)(3)-to create the fund and to expand the community outreach component of this initiative.

On June the 5 2017 Emanuel Chrisopoulos “EMAN” was in a single car accident.  In an instant the world changed and he was fighting for his life.  His injuries were severe and he underwent triage at Gwinnett medical. There he had emergency surgery for a c7 spinal cord injury on June 5 &amp; 6.  He had rods put in his back neck &amp; plate in the front to stabilize the spinal cord.  No feeling from waist down.  At Gwinnett he got pneumonia, his kidney failed, had more than 3 liters of fluid accumulated around his lungs.  He almost died the first nights, as they would call code blue because his oxygen &amp; heart rate dropped &amp; had to do CPR.  He would have code blue called many more times in this journey.<br /><br />After a few weeks he was admitted to Piedmont only by the grace of God on July 3.  When they got to Piedmont his incision opened down to the hardware &amp; 3 inches.  He had surgery again after they were there for a week.  It was touch and go but he was making good progress and he was taken off of dialysis after 2 weeks! They were weaning him off the trache, and he stayed off vent for more than 48 hrs.  at a time. The Dr's to that point never had much hope but thank God he had a Great Physician &amp; took hold of the situation!  At piedmont they found another hidden problem with a bed wound he had developed while at Gwinnett. I will not go into specifics but it was gruesome. The poor guy could not catch a break.<br /><br />He made enough progress to move out of Piedmont to long term care. Misty, his 21 year old daughter Madison , and family fought hard to get him into the Shepherd Center for Spinal rehab. However, Shepherd’s would not take him until he could breathe on his own, and the bed wound healed. So he went to Landmark in Athens. He would make good progress and then have setbacks. He then got sent back to piedmont for more surgery. He would code blue more times, but each time he fights back stronger.  We have to get him to the shepherd center as soon as possible for any chance of a quality of life for EMAN. So the family fights daily to keep him of strong mind.  To date the wound is still healing and he battles day to day with the breathing. He has had some great weeks and we are amazed by him daily.<br /><br />This family to date has asked for no money. They have only asked for prayers. They never wanted their emergency to be yours. They used every penny and every resource they acquired in their lifetime to fight this battle. However, now 7 months into the journey they need our help. Misty lost her job, they are running out of money, and their insurance providers Blue Cross BlueShield has moved out of Georgia, and will drop them January the 1st. The other providers out there are expensive, and with his now preexisting condition it limits the options.  Additionally, Medicare does not kick in until you have been disabled for 2 years. These families the Kilpatrick’s, Woods, and Chrisopoulos are the strongest I have ever seen.  So please if you can find it in your heart donate to this cause. My goal is to get enough money raised so EMAN has a fighting chance, Misty can continue to fight alongside, and by the grace of god we can get him to the Shepherd Center for Spinal rehab in 2018.<br /><br />If you cannot donate, please pray for my Friend and brother from another mother.
