Hello Friends, Family, and Many Others!

Thank you for following my 2,650 mile journey on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) from Canada to Mexico. It’s been an amazing experience filled with beautiful sunsets, demanding climbs, sprained ankles, and refreshing bodies of water. Every day offers new and unexpected challenges and delights while teaching me things about myself and the world around me. I’ve been on the trail 3.5 months and I’m roughly 3 weeks (and approximately 500 miles) from completing this endeavor.

Many PCT hikers attempt a “24-hour hiking challenge” and I’ve decided to have a go at this challenge too. Essentially, the idea is to see how many miles I can hike in 24-hours. I will attempt this challenge while fundraising to support the work of Blood Cancer United. Blood Cancer United’s mission is to cure blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma while improving the lives of patients and their families. This cause is particularly personal because my childhood friend, Olivia, was recent diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Hi! Frank Carter here! I am onto the next adventure on the Missouri River and am hoping to raise funds and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. For those that do not know, I was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma (a rare type of aggressive blood cancer) in November of 2021. During my journey to remission, The Leukemia and Lymphoma society made such a difference for myself and my family. From educational opportunities, resources for research information, and financial support, this amazing organization helped to lessen the burden of what was, to say the least, a daunting journey. Thankfully, this month I am officially 3 years into remission! I am now off to canoe the Missouri River with my dog Amos and would love the opportunity to bring awareness and raise funds for this fantastic organization! Every dollar counts. My name is Kendra Fuentes, and this year, for my birthday, I’m choosing to raise money for a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart.

In 2023, my mom was diagnosed with Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare form of blood cancer. Her diagnosis turned our world upside down, and the journey since then has been one of courage, strength, and hope. She has undergone chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and while WM is a lifelong battle, my mom continues to face it with resilience and unwavering determination.

Watching her fight has inspired me to do more—to raise awareness and help others who may be walking the same difficult path. That’s why I’ve decided to dedicate my birthday to supporting Blood Cancer United.
