My mother has retired and is now transitioning back to living full-time in our native Honduras. She is as much running to her conception of home as she is away from the harms that we in America have suffered of late. Being now 6 hours away instead of 2.5, I know I'll sleep better if I'm able to send her off with an emergency fund that we can both access in the event she finds herself urgently in need. Your support will serve to shore up a funding pool in case unexpected events—like health conditions, natural disasters, emergent home repairs, document management, or an urgent flight back to one of her children—prove costly. My mother gave 30 years of her life in service to her family and, having worked in a nursing home, in service to community members at their most vulnerable.
