My family and I have suffered greatly due to the ongoing war on Gaza for almost a year, during which we were forced to be displaced about ten times, and live in tents with a severe shortage of life necessities. We have lost our house, which we built with great difficulty. We have witnessed many horrors due to the violent and indiscriminate bombing, which completely destroyed our city and destroyed our homes, our roads, and our services such as electricity, water, and communications.

<div>Since the beginning of the war, I have lost my job, and we have no source of income, knowing that the economic situation here has deteriorated dramatically and prices have risen dozens of times due to the siege imposed on us. <div>More than once I’ve sat in front of a Google doc trying to do the hardest writing jobs I can think of: in urgency, I wrote to you many times before asking to support through a small donation toward mutual aid funds, community bails, and other critical support for individuals in communities across the globe. Sometimes it is for people I knew and loved personally, others, complete strangers and their families, having one of the worst days of their lives as undocumented people. To sum up a human being, a member of community down to their material needs broke me every time, yet we collectively got our people back every time, penny by penny.

<div>The trauma I experienced in my own personal life, compacted with, well… everything else, is something that I have been recovering from intentionally for some time now.

<div>The past three years have been a gift, and DC has become my home.

For myself and my children. <strong>We know what is up ahead, and assessing my capacity, mentally, physically, and even spiritually, I have come to the decision of re-matriating back to Uruguay, my first home.</strong> Today I ask for material support to make that happen. Moving my studio and work equipment, our household, and travel expenses are very costly. Getting my footing in a place I’ve not been in two decades requires a safety net too. <div>I am writing to you with an urgent humanitarian appeal on behalf of my freind Ahmed and his family, who are currently enduring extremely harsh and challenging circumstances. Ahmed's home in Gaza was completely destroyed during the recent conflict. Miraculously, he and his family, including his wife and two young daughters, survived the relentless shelling and the invasion of Rafah. They have since relocated to Deir al-Balah in search of safety and stability.

<div>Ahmed, who previously worked in agriculture, is now unemployed due to the war. The conflict not only obliterated his home but also destroyed his means of livelihood. <div>Currently, Ahmed and his family are without a home or a source of income to meet their basic needs. They are living under extremely difficult conditions, with no support or aid. Though my work has been fruitful, expansive, and extremely well-received, it has not been enough to support my current medical issues and the new issues I am developing.
