Tonight we got a call about a dog dumped at Engine 59 in Harlem. Her name is Zoe. Tony is heading to the vet (VEG) now to get her evaluated and stabilized. What we know right now is enough to know this is serious. Zoe has injuries consistent with prolonged trauma and likely needs stitches. We won’t know the full extent until the vets clean her wounds and keep her overnight. Right now, she will be hospitalized for at least the next few days while we figure out what comes next. She needs immediate medical care. And we need to be ready for whatever that looks like. This is where your support changes everything. Help Save KaKashi: A Beloved Dog Fighting for His Life We recently received a call regarding a suspected animal neglect situation involving a dog named KaKashi in Bushwick. A concerned neighbor had seen him in his yard and was alarmed by how thin he appeared, prompting a report of possible neglect. Alongside the NYPD, we responded to investigate the situation. What we found was far more nuanced and heartbreaking than it first appeared. KaKashi's owner, who has been fully cooperative and willingly accepting our help, loves him deeply. She took KaKashi in after his previous owners separated and has done everything she could to care for him. Unfortunately, KaKashi became seriously ill, and the mounting veterinary expenses quickly became overwhelming—a situation all too familiar to many loving pet owners. Far too often, financial hardship becomes the reason animals are surrendered, abandoned, or left without the medical care they desperately need. KaKashi's owner never stopped trying. She simply ran out of resources. At this time, we suspect KaKashi may be suffering from severe internal medical issues, and we are holding onto hope that his diagnosis is not cancer. Tony is currently at the veterinary hospital with KaKashi as doctors work to determine the cause of his condition. Diagnostic testing, treatment, medications, and a possible hospital stay are expected to be costly. We are asking for your support to help give sweet KaKashi the chance he deserves. This morning, a dog was found tied to a park bench in Franz Siegel Park in the Bronx. She had a shock collar around her neck and an empty bowl beside her. She was left there overnight—first spotted around 6:30am—alone, scared, and abandoned. An amazing community of people rallied around her. They reached out, and Tony rushed to bring her to our trauma center.  We’re calling her Jeter for intake—found near Yankee Stadium—but her forever name will be chosen by the person who steps up to foster her. At first, we thought she might be pregnant. She’s not. Her belly is distended from severe malnourishment and neglect. She is in rough shape. Cuts and sores cover her body. Her ears are so poorly cropped that she’ll need sedation just to fully assess the damage and further treatments. She has a deep ligature wound on her front left ankle—from being tied with wire or cord for a long time—it has cut deep into her skin. She’s about 3 years old. 44 lbs. And she has clearly been used for breeding. She CAN be in another home with dogs, she has shown no signs of reactivity and she isn’t a very fast moving girl . This is a cycle we see far too often: used for profit, neglected, and dumped when no longer “useful.” It’s evil - cruelty in its purest form—and it must end. Animal Rescue Consortium — Emergency & Ongoing Care Fund We’re a small, volunteer-run rescue. No facility, no large operating budget—just a committed network of people who step in when a dog has nowhere else to go. That call can look different every time. A dog tied to a bench and left behind. One dropped out of a moving car in Staten Island. Another 3 dogs and 6 cats discovered alone in an apartment after being abandoned. In each case, saying yes means taking on everything that follows: medical care, food, supplies, and the support our fosters need to help each dog stabilize, heal, and begin again. This fund exists so we don’t have to hesitate in those moments. So we can act quickly, before a window closes. Most of rescue work happens quietly. There’s no spotlight on the late-night vet visits, the weeks of recovery, or the steady, behind-the-scenes care that gives a dog a real chance. But that’s exactly what this fund makes possible. We are saving 3 dogs and a number of cats from a horrendous hoarding situation. All will need veterinary attention. As always, we don’t turn our backs, no matter the dire situation. For this one, the photos and videos tell the story. Truly a house of horrors where animals were left to suffer. Tony has been on the ground, in a hazmat suit, to assess these dogs and plan their rescue.

This past weekend, as NYC temperatures crashed to -10 degrees with wind chill, three dogs were left to fight for their lives on the streets. They were hungry, terrified, and completely alone. If our founder Tony hadn’t gone out at all hours of the night to find them, these dogs would not be alive today. But rescue is only the beginning. Shadow is a black lab mix, not even a year old, who was surrendered to an NYPD precinct after surviving outside for who knows how long. He’s only about 30 pounds, still just a puppy, and he’s already being treated for worms and neglect. Shadow is safe in a temporary foster, but he needs ongoing medical care and—most importantly—an adopter who will show him that he will never be abandoned again. Tiger was found alone in a Chase ATM vestibule by police officers, curled up trying to escape the freezing wind. Thanks to immediate action from our team and supporters, Tiger has now been adopted and is finally safe and warm. His story is proof of what is possible when people step up—but his medical care and rescue costs still need to be covered. Kevin’s case is the most urgent. Kevin was found under a tarp in the middle of the night after his owner was taken to a shelter to escape the cold—and Kevin was left behind. During his rescue he was terrified, and in the effort to get him to safety he suffered wounds to his face and body. He is carrying deep emotional trauma and can come off standoffish because he has learned that the world isn’t safe. Kevin needs extensive medical treatment and, more than anything, an experienced foster with no other dogs—someone patient, strong, and able to read him so he can finally begin to heal. These dogs are not statistics. They are living, feeling souls who were failed by the people they trusted. The cold didn’t care if they lived or died—but we do. This sweet pittie was found by a compassionate Good Samaritan after we believe he was STABBED and left for dead. We are naming his Private Ryan as his personal battle has begun! We strongly suspect he was stabbed, suffering severe injuries that required immediate emergency veterinary care. Despite unimaginable pain and trauma, he remains gentle, loving, and trusting. His fight is far from over — he needs ongoing wound treatment, medications, and intensive medical monitoring to survive. He also has a large tumor on his tail that will need to be addressed. His vet bills have already reached $2,100, and costs continue to rise daily. We urgently need help to cover his medical expenses so we can continue his care and give him the chance to live.
