<div>Hello, my name is Angela and I am a zookeeper in NYC. I am here to raise funds to support my coworker, <strong>Myra</strong>. <strong>Myra and her 2 children lost all of their belongings in a building fire yesterday</strong>, which started in a laundromat below her apartment in Brooklyn, then spread to the 3 stories above it. Thankfully, Myra and her family are safe, but their apartment is uninhabitable and they can use all possible help at this time.

Together for Myra, After the Fire

<div>If you live in South Slope, chances are your day has been brightened by an interaction with Madeline, whether through the window at Southside Coffee where she is an integral part of the team, while walking a dog she is dog-sitting, or on her way to Nitehawk to catch a movie. If you’ve met Madeline, been greeted with her signature “hey friend!” and been the recipient of one of her hugs, you cannot possibly forget her.

<div>This month, Madeline was diagnosed with advanced stage Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, which has spread to her liver and spleen. While the prognosis is good and treatment is already underway, this is a life-altering diagnosis with a long pathway to healing. Madeline is staring down 6-8 months of chemo: countless trips to the infusion centers, unexpected hospitalizations, and a whole host of side effects, from unpleasant to debilitating.

<div>While Madeline is hoping to maintain some semblance of her normal routine, her chemo and treatment mean she will not be able to work consistently, and she will need help with medical expenses as well as basic living costs. <div>Recently, <strong>I was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer, known as mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma papillary RCC</strong>. This diagnosis led to a surgery to remove the tumor and part of my right kidney. While I am now at home recovering, I still require hospital visits for further testing and ongoing treatments.
