I am a 38-year-old small business owner who was perfectly healthy until just two weeks ago. On Christmas, I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome—a rare and serious disease that can be life-threatening if not caught early. Thankfully, we caught it in time, but the diagnosis has turned my world upside down. Suddenly, I am unable to work, and the uncertainty of my recovery has left me worried about how I’ll keep up with my responsibilities at home and for my business.

 As a business owner and homeowner, I have many people depending on me. The funds raised here will go directly toward covering my business expenses, including rent, electricity, gas, and paying my employees, so they can continue to support their families too. I’ll also use some of the funds to help with my own household bills—mortgage, utilities, trash, and groceries—while I focus on recovery over the next couple of months.
