I am a 38-year-old small business owner who was perfectly healthy until just two weeks ago. On Christmas, I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome—a rare and serious disease that can be life-threatening if not caught early. Thankfully, we caught it in time, but the diagnosis has turned my world upside down. Suddenly, I am unable to work, and the uncertainty of my recovery has left me worried about how I’ll keep up with my responsibilities at home and for my business.

As a business owner and homeowner, I have many people depending on me.
