My dear friend Christy Duley is currently in the ICU at Mercy in Springfield after suffering a massive stroke. She underwent emergency surgery to remove part of her skull to relieve the blood and pressure from a brain bleed. Right now, Christy is able to move her right side better than her left, but she faces a long road ahead with extensive therapy and support needed for her recovery.
<br>
<br>
 Her husband Chad and their family are staying in Springfield for as long as it takes to be by her side. This journey is going to be challenging, both emotionally and financially. As friends and a caring community, we want to rally around Christy and her family to help ease some of the burdens they are facing. The funds raised will go directly toward Christy's medical expenses, therapy, and supporting her family during this difficult time.
<br>
<br>
 I'm reaching out to everyone who knows and loves Christy, as well as anyone moved by her story, to ask for your help. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference. Your prayers and support mean the world to us. If you have any questions or want updates, please reach out to me. We appreciate all of you and thank you so much in advance for your kindness and generosity.

<div>LGBTQ+ spaces like Alphabet Soup are disappearing across the country. But the need for them has not disappeared. Alphabet Soup is more than a place to go out. It is a place where people come to feel safe, seen, welcomed, and connected. It is where strangers become friends, friends become family, and people can walk in, exhale, and simply be themselves.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The name "Alphabet Soup" came from a simple idea—we didn't want anyone to feel left out or labeled. We wanted a place where everyone belongs.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>When the hurricane hit, we did what community spaces are supposed to do. We opened our doors. We ran generators. We set up phone charging stations. We served coffee. We waived membership fees so people had somewhere safe to go. We didn’t hesitate, because that is who we are.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Like many small businesses here, we were affected when the hurricane disrupted the local community and reduced foot traffic. Now people are coming back, and we’re starting to feel that energy again. We’ve already taken major steps forward. Alphabet Soup is now completely smoke-free indoors, and we’ve refreshed the space to make it more welcoming than ever. The response has been incredible. We’re seeing new faces, more energy, and real growth.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We’re not standing still. We’re building momentum with live entertainment, karaoke, themed nights, and special events designed to bring people together and grow our community. But transitions like this take time. Now we’re asking for help to bridge the gap between that momentum and long-term stability.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My name is Metria Jones, and I created Alphabet Soup because I know what it feels like to search for a place where you truly belong. Years ago, during my transition, there was a place in this community called the Oar House. It wasn’t just a bar. It was a safe space, a place where people could feel at home. When it closed, something important disappeared. I didn’t want to wait for that feeling to come back. So I built one. I’ve spent my life building systems—serving in the Air Force in satellite communications, helping launch satellites at RCA, working on advanced technology at Raytheon, and creating one of the early social networks before the internet through a system called Meganet. I was also proud to help write, fight for, and pass Gulfport's original Human Rights Ordinance. But what I’ve always really built is connection. Alphabet Soup is the next version of that. For the past three years, it has become a place where people can walk in, exhale, and be themselves. Where strangers become friends, and friends become family. Across the country, spaces like this have been quietly disappearing—not because they stopped mattering, but because it has become harder for small, independent community spaces to survive. At a time when many people feel uncertain about where they belong, spaces like Alphabet Soup matter more than ever.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What your support will help us do: We’re raising funds to help us navigate this transition and keep Alphabet Soup strong while we grow. Your support will help us cover essential operating expenses (rent, utilities, staff), support ongoing events and programming that bring people together, and keep our doors open during this critical growth period. This support gives us the runway to turn growing momentum into long-term stability.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This isn’t just about keeping a business open. It’s about protecting a place where people feel safe, accepted, and connected. It’s about making sure there is still somewhere people can go and feel like they belong.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If Alphabet Soup has ever meant something to you, we would be deeply grateful for your support. If you believe spaces like this matter, we would be honored if you stood with us. And if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign helps more than you know. Because places like Alphabet Soup don’t survive by accident. They survive because people decide they’re worth it.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With gratitude,
</div>

Help Keep This LGBTQ Space Standing

<div>This fundraiser is for plein air painter, Nancy Poucher &amp; her husband Lenny. With their home just a few blocks off the bay, Helene’s 8’ surge ravaged their home this October. Milton made that terrible mess even more challenging to clean up.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Nancy &amp; Lenny lost everything in their home, contents both functional &amp; personal. Nancy has no studio left, no art supplies. She lost hundreds of paintings. In her case it was home &amp; business lost. Their home was flooded with over 3’ of water, it is currently unlivable. This money will help take the edge off as they navigate this new way.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Nancy Poucher has been an artist in Gulfport’s Brenda McMahon Gallery for over three years. She is a dedicated member of our local arts community and the founder of Gulfport Plein Air Artists group. Nancy spearheaded this group where artists take their easels onto the streets of Gulfport and paint our beautiful town. We have all seen them and many of us know them well.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you have been to Gulfport, if you have purchased Nancy‘s art then you know how much she loves our town. Nancy’s pastel birds in flight, boats on the water &amp; renditions of local businesses are among some of the most favorite portrayals of Gulfport.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Nancy has given our community so much joy &amp; love, it is now our opportunity to give back to her. Nancy &amp; Lenny hope to stay &amp; rebuild, but are unsure if they can.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our hearts go out to ALL those in need. We thank you for any help you can provide. Together Gulfport is strong and we will help our friends and neighbors stay in our community and build back. Thank you!

<div>My name is Deven Billings and I am Noelle Hash's eldest daughter. My mother was an incredible mother. She was the most thoughtful and caring person I have ever known. Even through many difficulties and loss, her family always came first. She gave us everything we could ever need. And she always found a way to make us laugh through the toughest times in our life. Life hits us hard and hits us even faster. My family and I are asking for your help and support through this tough time. Anything and everything helps us. The service date is still being decided. It may be sooner or later. Please message myself, Marti Hash, or Linda Stalter if there's anything else you wish to know or help with. Thank you all so much for being here for us in this time of loss.

<div>Since our GoFundMe drive one year ago, you have collectively donated over a hundred thousand dollars to a cause that holds immense significance for us: the compassionate and resilient people of Cape Verde Island, where I spent my formative years until the age of thirteen. Following Cape Verde's independence in 1975, progress has been slow, and many inhabitants struggle to survive on less than $2 per day. The healthcare system is virtually non-existent, leading to many preventable deaths.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With the unwavering support of my son Anthony and his extensive social media network, I have made the heartfelt decision to dedicate my life to aiding these remarkable individuals who played an instrumental role in shaping the person and father I am today.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I extend a sincere invitation to anyone willing to contribute, not only financially but also with their expertise in various fields, to join us in this noble endeavor. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of the wonderful people of Cape Verde Island.

<font color="#333333">Kendra Allen lost her daughter Lexi 12/18 in the early hours of the morning to vasculitis, surrounded by her family. Let's shower her with resources to help not only pay medical expenses but also for any funeral costs. Kendra and her family have had some really tough times over the last few years and do not have the resources currently to provide Lexi with celebration of life she deserves.  Kendra is a friend to many in the China adoption world, having helped us adopt our children.  I know she would be forever grateful for any support at this time.  Please also pray for her and her family, Including Lexi's sister Livi who she was very close to. <br /><br />Special needs adoption is truly a leap of faith for those of us in this world of medical care, emotional care and disability management.  Kendra and her family built a beautiful story for Lexi and gave her a life full of love and hope that was amazing to watch. <div>Hey everyone, if you don’t already know me, my name is Adryan. My family is not one to ask for help, but here I am coming to you all for help. Some of you may know the struggles my sister (Kristeena) has been through with her health. On Tuesday she drove to the E.R with excruciating pains in her feet and legs, and a spreading rash. Luckily she has a few sick days and vacation days, but it looks like she will be in the hospital several more days. She will hopefully be approved for short-term leave, however, but she will only receive 75% of her pay. On top of that, insurance won’t cover some of the tests they are running on her and This hospital stay is really going to set her back.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am setting this Go-Fund Me up (without her knowing) in hopes we can all come together to help relieve her of the financial burden that lies ahead of her. She is a hard working, single mom of two incredible boys. I would love to be able to take that stress away from her and allow her to focus on recovering and being there for her boys.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Here’s the story.
</div>
<div>On Wednesday, August 10th, she had a follow up doctors appointment to go over results from her tests and scan she had taken the week before to determine why she was having bad pain in her feet and legs. Scans showed that the stent they put in two years ago to help with Blood flow had collapsed. She was told she would more than likely have surgery the following week.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On Thursday, August 11th, my sister left work mid day and headed to the hospital with excruciating pain throughout her legs and feet (specifically her right pinky toe). She was admitted right away and was told they may have to remove her pinky toe and would have to cut her stomach open and go in and do a Coronary artery bypass , but first they wanted to run more tests before making their final decision.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Since Friday, she has seen multiple doctors (Nephrologist, Rheumatologist, Hematologist, Dermatologist, Cardiologist, and a Respiratory doctor) and has done multiple scans/tests (PET Scan, CT Scan, X-Ray, Ultrasound, Renal Scan), and is being teated for Kidney issues, lung issues, tested for lupus , Vasculitis, and much more. Right now they are monitoring her high blood pressure, and trying to keep her as comfortable as she can. She’s on several different medications, including a steroid they started her on yesterday. This morning she went in for her Renal Ultrasound to check her kidneys.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I will keep everyone updated as we find out more along the way. Prayers are always appreciated.
</div>
<div>If anyone would like to reach out to Kristeena, she does have Facebook, or reach out to me and I’ll give you her number.
</div>
<div>Thank you all!

Please help my sister.

<div>As some of you already know my brother Troy has been struggling with chronic kidney disease for over 2 years now. Between covid and the current unemployment fiasco he has been stuck in a no win situation waiting for transplant surgery. His medical bills are piling up and housing is now an issue. He has temporary housing until May 1st but with no income he is in a bind. Our family is helping on a month to month basis but it's getting really tough. We're praying to get him back on his feet and to get him through surgery this year sometime. The medical expenses are only going to get worse unfortunately . Anything to help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi everyone, my name is Wendy aka @gay_girl_inc and as many of you may know I have been undocumented  most of my life. I came to the US from South America when I was 4 years old.  I gained permanent residency status two years ago. If you or anyone you know has ever had to go through the process of applying for any type of immigration process or status change you know it’s an extremely costly process, one which I’ve already gone into debt for and am currently still paying off. Given the recent pandemic my partner lost her job and 3 people in my household have lost their income which has made me one of the main financial contributors. I have a 90 day window to apply to remove the restrictions from my permanent residency status and I don’t have enough money to pay the filing and application fees. If I don’t submit my application by the deadline I’d have to reapply and pay to start my green card process all over again which is something I can’t afford to do. If you have means or privilege to help please donate or share this post, no contribution is too small. I appreciate any and all support from the community and am thankful to have you❤️

We are devastated to share that Lee passed away Friday, August 30th 2019. He was an amazing husband and father, and was loved by many. Lee struggled with diabetes and kidney disease for the last few years of his life, however his death was still sudden and unexpected. Lee is now on his next adventure and will be greatly missed, but his condition left his family with a significant financial burden.<br />Please consider helping out his loved ones through this difficult time as they move forward without him. Donations will go directly to his wife Jan Van Ameyde to help with end of life costs and future expenses.<br /><br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/41756240_1567527494191630_r.jpeg" alt="41756240_1567527494191630_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />
