<div>Friends, if you didn't know, I'm an autistic adult who also lives with a severe anxiety disorder and PTSD. It is impossible to tell just by speaking with me online. In fact, being online makes it easier for me to communicate with people. Using the screen as my shield, I'm able to work through my social anxieties and interact with the public in ways I never could before. It has truly been incredible. Online, I have time to organize my thoughts and present them in a more articulate way.

<div>In-person communication has always been my deepest struggle, with my disabilities even leading to bouts of "selective mutism," where I am unable to speak verbally at all.  I honestly say that it's not very selective. As I've gotten older, things have gotten so much harder.  I stay inside and hardly ever leave my home because of my anxiety. I have been suffering from severe depression and thoughts of self-harm for a few years now. I've had my meds changed often to no avail. When I do leave my house, it is always with my husband as he is my biggest support. He helps speak for me when I can't. He manages to handle all my needs, and he is amazing. But it is a hard job, and I want to alleviate this for him in any way I can. Being able to live more independently would be priceless to me.

<div>Under the advice of my doctor, therapist, and other members of my care team, this sweet miniature schnauzer puppy was selected to be trained as my personal psychiatric service dog. The trainer we are hoping to work with has drawn up a plan for her education, and will see to it that she learns to complete tasks and therapeutic maneuvers that can help me function more easily on my own and lead a more independent life.

<div>As self-harm is an issue I have struggled with in the past, one key component of her training will be teaching her to recognize dissociative states and intervene to prevent any self-harming behaviors. I do get very over stimulated, and unfortunately, the risk of self-harm is still an issue for me. I feel like this puppy could potentially save my life one day. Having the extra peace of mind that there is someone else looking out for me could also help alleviate some of the pressure that I know my husband must be feeling.

<div>Other tasks that she will learn to assist with are medication reminders, interrupting anxiety-based behaviors such as repetitive scratching/picking, and providing a vital source of emotional support during public outings. There is honestly even so much more that this dog could help me with it.  I'm tired of feeling like I'm trapped, and this would be a huge blessing for me.

<div>She will require a rigorous 3 to 6 month training program in order to learn the things she needs to know to be a full service dog. Our trainer has generously offered to also include my dachshund, Icky, and provide him with some basic training to help him as the new pup integrates into our family as part of our plan. Already having such anxiety, it is terrifying to have to ask for help — but if there is anyone out there who may be willing to contribute to make this happen, our family would be most appreciative. The training is unfortunately not covered by insurance.

Support for Heather's Service Dog Training

<div>My name is Jennifer. Our little buddy isn't doing so well. He has a bladder full of stones and is blocked. He has to be on IV fluids and a catheter to let the stones out without blocking him again. He is on his 3rd day at the vet and we will be incurring about $500 in additional costs that i will post tomorrow when I get them. Our little buddy is my husband's best friend that has saved his life on several occasions. We don't want to lose our boy and all help is appreciated! I have included pics of his urine and the couple stones they pulled out so far. ALL donations will go to his vet bills and recovery.

<div>UPDATE: They let us bring our little buddy home! After a rough night of him pulling his IV out and losing a good amount of blood, all his levels are now normal and he is able to urinate on his own! Now on a prescription food, glucosamine supplements and lots of water, so this does not reoccur.

<div>Yesterday April 3, 2023 my sweet, loving and incredibly smart nephew Jacob unexpectedly passed away. He was only 6 years old. The devastation this is causing his dad and mom  (My brother Joey and his wife Stephanie) and all of Jacob's loved ones is unfathomable. We ask if you can find it in your heart to donate to them, our family would be forever grateful. If you can't afford to donate, I know they would be more than thankful for a prayer as they try to navigate their way through life without their precious, amazing baby boy.

<div> In May of 2022, we moved to Helena, Montana for a wonderful work opportunity for my husband Tim, as well as myself and our beloved pets. Prior to accepting the job in Helena, I had been battling with getting my disability claims approved to which I finally won and that provided us the financial means to make the move to Helena. We packed up our lives that we had worked so hard to build in Idaho and moved hours away from our comfort zone and families but we were so excited to experience Helena and the opportunity surrounding us.

<div>Within a few weeks of arriving to Helena, Winky began to experience medical issues and we were faced with locating a veterinarian that was both experienced with special needs cats and was accepting new patients. We hit so many roadblocks which was beyond stressful. Our stress surrounding this issue became even more alarming when I woke up from a nap and noticed that Winky’s eye had protruded from the socket. This had happened once before while we were living in Idaho but it was not nearly as severe as this time around. We were frantic and called multiple vet offices in our area and none were able to see Winky — and for anyone who is familiar, eye conditions require immediate intervention in order to save the eye/eye sight. Thankfully we went inside a random vet clinic here and when they saw her comdition they didn't turn us away. With this, our senior cat had a seizure and winky got some eye infections and we had no choice but to drive an hour away from Helena to a veterinary emergency clinic for treatment because no vet here would see them at the time.

<div>Because of Winky’s ongoing medical concerns and the need for us to be closer to specialty veterinarians, that we didn’t realize Helena didn’t have, we have been faced with an unfortunate need to relocate. Tim was able to secure another position within his current company in Salt Lake City, Utah. This area offers optimal services for Winky to be provided with not only primary veterinary care but specialty care from Internal Medicine for her megacolon to multiple Ophthalmologists to treat and monitor her ongoing eye issues as a result of the protrusion.

<div>This has not been an easy decision for us to make, financially or emotionally, but for the sake of Winky’s health (and my husband's) — it was imperative and important. And because of this decision and due to our recent move only six months ago, we have been faced with the financial constraints that comes with moving. Tim will, unfortunately, be off of work for 2 weeks prior to our move and we’ve been given a date of December 12th, 2022 to arrive in Salt Lake City in order for Tim to start his new position. All of this has happened so quickly (within the past week) and now we’re faced with the stress of pulling together enough funds to make this move happen.

<div>The total amount being fundraised is to help with breaking our current lease, assisting with the deposit/ first &amp; last months rent for a new apartment + a pet deposit for our animals, paying movers as I am currently unable to help pack due to ongoing spinal pain that my doctor is treating me for every other day, new tires on our vehicle to drive safely in the snow through the mountains, and for any emergencies that may arise during the moving process. We know and understand that this may be a lot to ask for but we’re hoping that our community will come together to help us make this move happen, for the health and safety of Winky and all of us. We had so many plans in Helena and had hoped that this would be our new home but we’ve realized the reality of our situation and would appreciate any assistance that each of you can provide. <div>In the coming months, his family will have to travel from Eastern North Carolina to Chapel Hill, where he will receive his treatments. Fuel costs, being what they are, and hotel stays are going to add up quickly for his parents. Please help me help Kaiden by easing the financial burden on his family.

<div>On May 15th, 2022 Christian broke his neck in a freak accident while playing with his kids at the beach. He broke the C5 vertebrae and has had two successful surgeries to fuse C4 to T1 with a metal plate to reinforce his spine.

<div>He currently only has limited range of motion in his upper body but does have feeling in his lower extremities.

<div>Doctors are advising to expect a 1 to 2 year rehabilitation process after several weeks in the ICU. His wife is currently not working in order to be with him at the hospital.

<div>We are praying for Christian to be admitted to a full time physical rehabilitation facility after he recovers from surgery, which we don’t expect insurance to cover but offers the best chance for regaining mobility.

Christian LeBreton broken neck

On Thursday, August 22nd, baby Atlas spiked a fever and was taken to the emergency room in Fairbanks where they discovered an infection, which doctors are thinking could be Meningitis. Atlas and his Mama, Jeri, were flown to a larger hospital in Anchorage on Friday (8/23) evening where they have been ever since. Atlas has since been having multiple seizures and really needs our prayers to stabilize. Jeff and Jeri are amazing parents and could use our support to ease their financial burdens so they  can completely focus on their sweet little guy. Monies donated will go toward medical bills, and travel expenses as Jeff will likely have to go back and forth between Anchorage and Fairbanks.

I am posting this for a dear friend that is in dire need of help. Debi Schmitt has been a long time pet sitter and bird/cat rescuer on the Central Coast and is now in need of help from the community. Debi needs to raise roughly $3500 in order to pay back housing costs and keep the home where she, her birds and cats live. Debi has been rescuing birds and educating the public on proper bird care and management for roughly 20 years. She has donated countless hours to local children camps and schools allowing the children to learn about birds and actually hold a large bird. She has held booths at other events as well such as Art in the Park, the Mission Plaza Craft Fair, Morro Bay Street Fair, Halcyon Craft Fair,  Earth Day at Rancho El Chorro, Baywood Elementary Science Fair, Too SLO Turtle Club Expo,  and Goldens in the Park. Debi never gets paid to do these events, she even rarely gets reimbursed for gas, but she does this because she loves teaching people about birds and sharing her love of them with others. Debi also does African Grey and Cockatiel rescue. She has taken in countless birds, many of which have medical and behavioral issues and used her own money to rehab them and find them new forever homes. Debi puts her blood (bird owners will get that part), sweat and tears into the birds in her care. This eviction could put Debi on the streets and her birds in shelters. Please do whatever you can to help this woman who has done so much for the bird community.
