My childhood was spent here in this neighborhood too and it's truly heartbreaking this place we called home, is just in our memories now.

<div>As Hurricane Helene left its wake of destruction in WNC, it has left many like Elizabeth with an unbelievable task of trying to identify next steps after complete destruction of their home. Liz is a single mom, labor and delivery nurse, and nurse mid-wife student (soon to be graduate). Thankfully Liz and her daughter Natalie were able to escape their home just hours before it was completely submerged with water. As a result, their house is in a complete state of destruction as are their belongings. As a long-time friend of Liz I would love to see some funds raised for her and Natalie as they navigate these difficult next several months.

I am currently facing a situation where my civil rights were violated and I was assaulted and illegally arrested by a Riverside County Sheriff officer. This has caused great emotional distress, but it has also caused a significant financial burden on me and my family as I seek justice.

<div>A little back story of the incident... On July 3rd, I was enjoying my backyard with my family, laughing and talking, which caused my Karen neighbor to call the cops as it interrupted his sleep. Not knowing there was a cop outside my home, a friend went to leave and when he opened the door, saw a cop about 20 feet from the door. He then closed the door to come and get me to deal with the visitor. (I wanted to clarify this as there are many people assuming I opened the door to this cop, I know better.) At that time, the cop decided he had every right to rush my door, open it, and enter without consent or a warrant. As I made my way to the front door, I saw the cop inside my home. Not very happy about this, I tried to get him to step outside to talk to me and figure out what his reason for being at my home was. He refused, exerted his power of a badge and a gun to try to intimidate me and power trip me. He had no regard for me in my home, the law, my civil rights, or my family. He claimed he "owned my home" now and was very unprofessional in every aspect. As I expressed my frustration, raising my hand, he decided that was his opportunity to gain the power he needed and assaulted me, throwing me up against the wall, forcibly pulling me out of my home, and arresting me. Absolutely no suspicion of a crime, or crime committed, ever. He was there on a noise complaint. I was arrested and am now facing resisting arrest/obstruction charge. This "officer" had 4 cameras, knowingly recording the whole entire interaction and still behaved this way. Can you imagine what these tyrants do when there's no cameras recording? This is absolutely unacceptable and deplorable. It is sad that we have to learn to never open the door for the people that are supposed to be out protecting us. Instead, they are the violators and criminals, dangerously, with badges and weapons.

<div>I am now left to navigate the legal system on my own.

The two incidents are both being investigated by law enforcement.

<div>Terry's parents were rescued from the upper floors, where there was high heat and no visibility due to smoke, fire officials said. They were treated and then taken to local hospitals.

Born in Puebla, Mexico, he got a tourist visa last year and traveled to the United States with them in February 2024. Support for Juan Luis's Family in Tragedy

<p>On May 14th, approximately 5:00pm , my brother Jason Rios asked my mother for permission to go dine at our Local Watts  Habit Burger Grille at Freedom Plaza for his 15th birthday. He sat down at the outside patio to enjoy his meal. While being so happy he could now go out on his own , he was attacked by 4 adults. They struck him in the head, instantly making him black out and fall out of his chair. They continued to beat and kick his lifeless body for no apparent reason while no one interviend. The suspects fled and left my brother for dead. He managed to call my mother, losing consciousness and the ability to speak. His brain began to swell and the blood flooded his brain. He is currently fighting for his life in a deep sleep and oxygen pumping into his lungs after his surgery . He is a straight A student, who enjoys building computers and gaming, who did not deserve this. I am here asking for justice. The funds will be used to get a lawyer to purse attempted murder and cover my brothers future therapy. As well as pursing legal action for the lack of security at The Watts Freedom Plaza and the Housing Authority of The City of Los Angeles New Harvest Projects. Where it is known for accidents like this to be swept under the rug and get no media coverage.

Escape Gaza war ! Help me and Family

<div>My name is Suzie Dudas.  I'm a private farmer in South Florida who in 2017 started a nonprofit on my farm called Nourishing Food for Thought.  My goal was to educate the community on food and farming and give people an opportunity to get outside to reconnect with animals, nature, and their bodies.  We impacted over 2000 individuals annually with hands-on tours, education groups, summer camps, and volunteer hours.  I ran the farm with my two beautiful children, aged 7 and 9.  However, in 2021 my children visited their father, my ex-husband, and he left them in a pool unsupervised with scuba equipment.  Somehow, there was helium in the children's oxygen tanks instead of oxygen, and they both passed. The community rallied to support the farm in the immediate aftermath, and in January of this year, I restarted my farming activities, purchasing chickens &amp; pigs. Shortly after I began offering educational tours, demonstrations and workshops. I have been running a summer camp for children ages 6-10, the same ages as Zale &amp; Saxon. It was hard, but also so rewarding. Unfortunately, my ex-husband is now pressing to use his share of the property to force me to sell.  I will lose the home I shared with my children as well as my nonprofit.  I am attempting to appear in court with an offer to buy him out, but he is accelerating the timetable.
