<div>In the coastal area of Nayarit, Mexico, some students previously spent two hours each day commuting to access bilingual secondary education. Today, through the support of Roots Foundation, 12 local students have access to a safe, supportive, globally minded learning environment much closer to home.

Through scholarships and community support, Roots is helping motivated young people and their families access an educational experience that empowers them to thrive, contribute to their communities, and pursue opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach.

<div>During the 2025–2026 school year, Roots proudly supported 12 scholarship students attending a bilingual, globally minded middle and high school on the Nayarit coast.

<div>As we prepare for the 2026–2027 academic year, we have already received 11 additional scholarship applications — reflecting both the growing need and strong community interest in expanded educational opportunities.

<div>Full tuition is approximately $5,000 USD per academic year. Scholarship support may cover 95%, 75%, 50%, or 25% of tuition costs depending on each family’s financial circumstances and level of need.

<div>Scholarships are awarded through a thoughtful review process that considers financial need, academic merit, personal essays, and teacher recommendations, with final selections made by a dedicated scholarship committee.

<div>Our goal is to continue funding the current 12 students while expanding scholarship support for as many of the 11 new applicants as possible. While a full scholarship is approximately $5,000 USD per year, donations of any size directly help expand access to education.

To date, we have successfully spayed/neutered over 520 animals, reducing unwanted litters and improving public health across Lo de Marcos and surrounding towns. Our goal is to reach 1000 animals by the end of 2025.

Notre ami Marc Fortin a été diagnostiqué avec la maladie Neuropathie optique héréditaire de Leber. La neuropathie optique de Leber (ou atrophie optique de Leber) est une maladie héréditaire qui se manifeste par une baisse brutale de la vision. Elle entraîne un mauvais fonctionnement du nerf optique qui transmet les informations de l’œil au cerveau. Ce qui veux dire que très bientôt Marc va devenir aveugle. Malheureusement il n’a pas de traitement pour cette maladie. Il a été obliger de quitter sa job et se retrouvera bientôt sans salaire et pour le moment sans pension d’invalidité<br />Nous avons besoin de vos dons pour aider Marc afin qu’il puissent payer son loyer et sa nourriture et tous les besoins donc il aura besoin. Marc est notre frère, notre ami, il a toujours été là quand nous l’avions de besoin et maintenant c’est lui qui a besoin de nous.<br /><br />Our friend Marc has been diagnosed with Leber hereditary optic neuropathy. (LHON) is a genetic eye disease which leads to sudden loss of central vision. That means that very soon Marc will become blind.<br />Unfortunately there is no treatment known for LHON. Marc recently<br />had to quit his job and will soon find himself without income or pension for the time being. We need your generosity to help Marc pay his rent, his groceries and all of everyday needs. Marc is our brother, our friend, he has always been there for us when we needed him and this time it is him who needs our help.
