<div>Kaye O’Neal is a dedicated birth worker, doula, and student midwife in Alabama who is passionate about providing compassionate, knowledgeable care to families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. As a young Black mother herself, Kaye understands firsthand how important safe, supportive care is during one of the most vulnerable and life-changing seasons in a person’s life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Her journey into birth work is deeply personal. After experiencing birth trauma and witnessing the disparities that continue to impact Black mothers and babies across the South, she felt called to help change outcomes in her community. Over the years, she has supported families through pregnancy and birth, provided postpartum support, and even donated breast milk to mothers across multiple states.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, Kaye is working to complete the clinical placement required for her certification as a midwife. In order to do this, she has to travel to another state to attend births under the supervision of a trained midwife and fulfill the hands-on clinical requirements necessary for certification. Alabama is in desperate need of more midwives, especially Black midwives, as maternal mortality rates and provider shortages continue to impact families across the state.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Becoming a midwife is an extremely demanding process, and most student midwives must fund years of training largely on their own while balancing work, parenting, and clinical hours. As a mother of four who continues serving families in her community while pursuing this training, Kaye is seeking support to help make this next step possible.

<div><br />
</div>
<div>Funds raised will help cover:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Travel expenses
</div>
<div>Gas and transportation costs
</div>
<div>Food and basic living expenses
</div>
<div>Clinical and training-related costs
</div>
<div>Your support will help Kaye focus fully on completing her placement and continuing the work of serving mothers and families who deserve compassionate, culturally aware care. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement helps bring her one step closer to becoming a certified midwife and expanding access to maternal health support in Alabama and throughout the Deep South.

<div>Thank you for supporting Kaye’s journey.

It is with a heavy heart that I share Jordan and Sebastián lost everything, including their beloved kitten, Bird, in a house fire last night. Thankfully, all seven of the tenants who lived in the building are safe, as they were not home. Please consider donating to this GoFundMe to support Jordan and  Sebastián as they continue to process this difficult news and rebuild a sense of familiarity and comfort.

<div>Please support the cats and kittens of Little Lion's Cat Rescue in Birmingham, Alabama! We are a recently founded non-profit looking to expand our services for community cats in the underserved, historically Black community of Woodlawn.
</div>
<div><strong>We organized when a neighbor delivered a 2-week-old kitten to our front door, who we named Lion and bottle-fed, burped, warmed, and loved to health and happiness.</strong> The following week, we found three other abandoned kittens and brought them home to join Lion at our unexpected micro shelter. We also feed and provide shelter for the kittens' outdoor family: pregnant mom Holly Blue, nursing mom JJ, kittens Leyya, Socks, and Tabby, 1-year-old Rumi, Sir, and King, and their father, Big Papa.
</div>
<div><strong>We are raising money to provide:</strong>
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong>Cat food</strong>
</li>
<li><strong>Flea and tick medication</strong>
</li>
<li><strong>Topical antibiotics and supplements for our kittens born with feline herpes</strong>
</li>
<li><strong>Vaccinations</strong>

<li><strong>Spay/neuter services</strong>

<li><strong>Neonatal kitten feeding supplies, including bottles and formula</strong>
