Every year up to 20 film school students visit Leweton Village in Vanuatu and become a part of the families, whose stories they celebrate and share. On the 7th of April, the village was devastated by Cyclone Harold and its 200km an hour winds. This destruction comes on the back of an already challenging 2019, with borders locked down and tourism decimated by COVID 19. As Griffith Film School students who visit Leweton every year and want to support our brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers in the village in whatever way we can. This money will allow the village to buy materials, put a roof back over each families' head and to ensure everyone is safe, healthy and fed while they rebuild their lives. Sandy Sur, as the head of Leweton Custom Village, will oversee the disbursement of funds. Please help by sharing what you can. No amount is too big or too small.

Leweton Village Cyclone Harold Rebuilding Fund

Thanks to the global impacts of COVID-19, the eXXpedition has been sadly cancelled. All donors have been contacted regarding refunds effective January 2021. Thank you to those who chose to support this amazing opportunity. Lets see where the coming years take us in terms of new global plastics projects. In the meantime, I will be planning the storyline of my children's book on the journey of plastic packaging as a simplified version of my PhD research findings. Keep up to date on www.useplasticbetter.org. Thank you again for your support! I am so very grateful. With kindest regards, Nicole T Garofano, PhD

The legislation to stop Aboriginal women being imprisoned for non payment of fines has been passed. Thank you for all your support. This is historical - we have all been waiting for these draconian laws to end for decades. You have all been part of this historic win. #FreeHer has supported 396 women to date and we have so many more Aboriginal women and children that need our financial support. #FreeHer campaign will continue. We know that none of us are free until all of us are free. We must continue the #freeher campaign as we know that the majority of women who are impoverished are criminalised & imprisoned and their babies removed by the State into so called ‘care’. We know Aboriginal mothers & babies are targeted within the racial capitalist State. We must end poverty We must end the removal of babies We must #FreeHer Thank you all for your ongoing support We will change women and their baby’s lives This campaign has been set up by Debbie Kilroy, CEO of Sisters Inside Inc. The funds raised will be used to end the criminalisation and imprisonment of women and children.

A memorial fund created, to support Geoff's wife and young children, by his old school friends.

Geoff was living and working in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Unfortunately, he suffered a stroke on Friday 9th November. Geoff was medivaced to Brisbane, Australia, the following morning. Sadly, his life support had to be turned off on 12th November 2018. Geoff had a big, bold personality only surpassed by his generous heart. He is dearly missed. He leaves a wife and two young girls who now face a raft of emotional challenges and financial hurdles.

Please help us to help them by donating today. Thank you.

One of the Communication for Social Change's Masters students, Mary Warus from Papua New Guinea, is in desperate need of surgery this month. She needs to raise $5500 to cover her medical fees, which aren't covered by her international student private health cover. Mary is a real inspiration to us all, and is a librarian in Papua New Guinea whose job is to bring literacy to PNG's most remote schools. She is passionate about knowledge and information being the key to development for PNG, and making a difference in her country. She is in Australia studying on an Australian Leadership Award scholarship, and will be returning to PNG on graduating this semester. Mary needs a rare form of surgery, which is quite expensive. There is a pheochromocytoma on her adrenal glad, and doctors seem confident that if they can remove it in Australia, her recovery will be quick. Here is Mary's message: I have been sick last year and towards the end of semester 2 I went for a
number of CT scans. It was when the doctor found out I had a growth of 4.8cm
(5cm) on my left adrenal gland to my left kidney. The growth is called
PHEOCHROMOCYTOMA and needs to be removed.

I
will be admitted to St Andrews war memorial hospital on the 21st of this month
(June) and surgery will take place on 26. My family are trying their best
to help me with funding for this surgery. I would very much need your
assistance in fund raising to help support my family and I too in paying my
medical bills. My health cover will take care of my in hospital but not the
surgeon, his assistant, anaesthetist and other related costs (scans and
medications etc).

It
is my prayer that God will bless you and those who support me to go through
this. Please help us to support Mary in her time of need.
