The fight is on to save our brumbies from being shot

<div>In April this year, National Parks commenced a large scale operation to cull brumbies from all areas of the Kosciuszko National Park. The culling has been undertaken by National Parks using aerial shooting, which involves shooting each of the brumbies on average between 7 and 15 times from helicopters. National Parks have advised that thousands of brumbies have been shot to date across KNP. National Parks have indicated they have no intention of ceasing the use of aerial shooting despite a range of issues being brought to their attention and despite the ongoing NSW Parliamentary Enquiry into the significant concerns about the use of aerial shooting.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>SMBUG has commenced legal action in the Supreme Court of NSW challenging the use of aerial shooting by National Parks. SMBUG is calling for urgent donations to assist SMBUG with the significant legal costs of the Supreme Court Challenge. The Supreme Court has listed the matter for a 3 day hearing commencing on the 1st July 2024. We would welcome any donations as soon as possible.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Many thanks in advance.

<div><strong>HELP SAVE AUSTRALIA’S WILD HORSES: BRUMBIES NEED YOUR VOICE </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Margaret Wood here,  I'm on a mission to give Australia's iconic Brumbies a voice in the media. I am raising funds for a powerful PR campaign.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This campaign will expose the truth about the inhumane slaughtering of Brumbies in Kosciuszko National Park.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The government, Parks NSW, and the Invasive Species Council (ISC) have launched a PR campaign portraying the slaughter of Brumbies as necessary and humane.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This has unfortunately swayed public opinion.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Brumby advocates lack the resources to compete.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We need a professional campaign that includes:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div> Targeted press releases: Reaching the right journalists with compelling stories.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div> Articulate spokespeople: Media-savvy representatives to effectively communicate our message.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Strategic media outreach: Engaging journalists and securing coverage across various platforms.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>THE POWER OF PUBLIC AWARENESS
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A well-run campaign can:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Generate public sympathy for Brumbies.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Challenge the narrative of a "humane" cull.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Showcase the disturbing reality of the slaughtering practices.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>WE NEED TO BE HEARD
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The media currently portrays Brumby advocacy groups as a “fragmented fringe group of extremist nutters”.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This undermines our credibility and the Brumbies' plight.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>A professional PR campaign will ensure those advocating for Brumbies are taken seriously</strong>.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It will:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Craft a clear and compelling message: We'll present our arguments in a way that resonates with the public.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div> Build trust with journalists: We'll develop strong relationships with media professionals, fostering accurate reporting.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div> Control the narrative: We'll proactively share our perspective, countering misinformation.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>INITIAL FUNDING GOAL: $15,000
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With your help, we can secure a 3-month professional PR campaign. This will allow us to effectively counter the misinformation campaign and ensure the Brumbies' story reaches a wider audience.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>WE HAVE A GREAT START
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We're close to finalizing the details of a contract with a highly qualified PR firm.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They understand our objectives and have a proven track record of securing local, national, and even international media coverage.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The good news is, that we can secure this contract and move forward with a powerful campaign as soon as we reach our initial fundraising goal!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This means your contribution is crucial.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Again, with your help, we can give the Brumbies a voice and challenge the misinformation campaign.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>SPREAD THE WORD AND DONATE TODAY!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every contribution brings us closer to giving the Brumbies a fighting chance.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please share this message with your network and donate what you can!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for your support!

HELP SAVE AUSTRALIA'S WILD BRUMBIES

<div>Our First Nations struggles to keep alive far too many of our First Nations people - children and older - living below the Bread Line, in crushing poverty shamefully continues.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>One in 16 First Nations deaths is a suicide. One in 50 Australian deaths is a suicide. The horrific disparity cannot continue as if entrenched.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The sins of a nation cannot continue to take the lives of our most vulnerable. Who are we if we do not stand up?
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Black Struggle to keep our children and parents alive continues. Sixty percent of our First Nations people live below the Poverty Line. Nearly all First Nations suicides are of children, youth, parents who lived below the Poverty Line.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Black Struggle to keep our people out of prisons continues. One in 6 of our First Nations people living have been to jail. An abomination born from the sins of a nation past and present.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Black Struggle to keep our children in the care of their parents continues. Families need to be supported and not destroyed. It is near evident that Australia's First Nations children are subjected to the world's highest child removal rates.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For the last three and a half years the now Kuditj partnered formerly all volunteer NATIONAL SUICIDE PREVENTION &amp; TRAUMA RECOVERY PROJECT has been fighting back to make a difference.

</div>
<div>Megan Krakouer leads the NSPTRP - working with the most affected, nost vulnerable - with those of our children, youth and parents most at risk.

<div>There is no greater legacy than to save a life and to shine light to hope and paths.

Bundjalung Community Flood Relief - by Koori Mail

<p><strong>About</strong><br /><br />CBE Christine which stands for Children's Basic Education (known as "Bush School" in Australia) is a small school in Siem Reap, Cambodia, only 300m from Angkor Watt. The school provides core education including Khmer, English, Maths and Science as well as vocational training and sports. The school provides education, food and medical assistance for children from poor families around the Angkor Watt area. CBEs education programs complement state schooling and provide education for children from low-income families who face financial difficulties in continuing their education. CBE provides a range of highly successful and popular programs that have helped children and young adults prosper in their working and community lives. CBE is run by a core of dedicated full-time and part-time Khmer teachers and managed through the Cambodian NGO Salvation Centre Cambodia (SCC).
</p>

<p><strong>COVID-19</strong>
</p>

<p>Over the last 18 months CBE has faced periodic closures due to the spread of COVID-19. Several donors who usually support CBE have also faced difficulties and as a result there has been less funding for the school. Further difficulties have arisen as several yearly fundraisers in Australia have been cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions. Yet the urgent need for funds has not diminished. CBE has not abandoned the staff or students who are facing significant financial stress. CBE has been providing full salary to all staff (staff would be in a very dire situation without this) and continues to provide emergency funds and support to families of students who are in most need.
</p>

<p>In response to these difficulties, CBE has commissioned a short film about livelihood struggles during COVID-19. The film features and was produced by staff and students of CBE. We hope this film gives you some insights into the difficulties that people across Siem Reap are facing. Although the film depicts the struggles of rural and urban people alike, CBE continues to have hope that the lives of students and staff will improve through communal education and mutual support.
</p>

<p><strong>Support</strong>
</p>

<p>If you are in a position to offer support, staff and students of CBE would be incredibly grateful. CBE faces the mammoth task of raising AUD$36,600 for the coming year. Whatever you are able to give will go far in contributing to the salaries for staff, funds for maintenance, and funds for food and other provision for poor families.
</p>

<p><strong>Partners</strong>
</p>

<p><a href="http://scc.org.kh/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Salvation Centre Cambodia</a>  (a registered NGO) has over a decade of experience administering various health and education programs in Cambodia. SCC has a transparent and efficient funding system to ensure funds get to CBE staff and students. SCC and donors have been working closely to support and strengthen CBE programs for over a decade. CBE has now been given incorporated status in Australia under the title "Cambodian Educational Support Inc." (CES), which works closely with SCC and has a staff member based in Siem Reap. To help in planning and fundraising, the Lions Club of Winmalee in Australia continues to support Bush School as a special project. For any further questions please contact [email redacted].
