Donah Blalock has spent over 20 years working as an in-home aide, dedicating her life to caring for others. For the past decade, she provided loving care for her mother, Peggy Blalock, ensuring Peggy could remain at home rather than in a nursing facility. Donah’s commitment allowed Peggy to live her final years with dignity and comfort, surrounded by family. Last August, Peggy passed away, leaving behind unresolved financial issues and no life insurance. Since then, Donah’s own health has declined, making it impossible for her to return to work. She is now facing urgent challenges to maintain her housing, keep the power on, and cover basic necessities. Despite her years of service to others, Donah has never asked for help, and my offer to start this fundraiser is truly a last resort. Funds raised will go directly toward house payments, power bills, insurance, and phone service while the situation with Peggy’s house is settled. It is difficult to accept help from others when you have been independent your whole life, but there are moments when we all need community support. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference for Donah as she navigates this difficult time.

On the morning of April 21, 2026, a tragic car accident took the life of Almeta Sizemore—a woman whose quiet kindness and gentle spirit touched so many. Almeta spent years serving her community through Stokes County Schools, including Southeastern Middle School, and even in retirement continued working part-time at Belk. She found her greatest joy in life’s simple treasures—watching hummingbirds from her porch, tending her hydrangeas, peonies, and irises, and spending peaceful moments surrounded by the nature she loved so deeply. Almeta was the kind of person who would give anything she had to help someone else, even if it meant going without herself. Now, her family is facing the unexpected burden of final expenses without the support of life insurance. We are asking for your help to ease this weight during a time of unimaginable grief. Any donation, no matter the amount, is a way to honor Almeta’s life—a life rooted in kindness, humility, and love—and to help her family through this heartbreaking loss.
